Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100 Comes to Life in 24 Hours
Annual Mega Event Scheduled for September 22nd -24th at Magnolia Motor Speedway
Columbus, Mississippi (09/21/16) – In just 24 hours the annual Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100 will kick off at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi. The huge event will be held on Thursday-Saturday, September 22nd-24th, 2016.
The 2016 Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100 Presented by Cooper’s Country Meat Packers will be headlined by a $20,000-to-win/$1,200-to-start, 100 lap finale for the Super Late Models as competitors look to tame the 3/8-mile oval in hopes of claiming their share of the total purse that . approaches $70,000.
Entries for this weekend already represent a stellar field of national, regional, and local competitors. More entrants are expected on race day.

Southern All Stars Return to Thunderhill Raceway For First Time Since 2001
FAYETTEVILLE, TN–The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series has raced at 86 racetracks across the southeast in the 33 year history of the series, and Saturday night May 7th the series visit one of those tracks it has been gone from for a long time and that is the Thunderhill Raceway on Summertown, TN. The event will be 40 lap $4,000 to win and mark the first time the series has been back to Thunderhill Raceway since 2001 when Byron Michael of Florence, AL., scored the win and the first every visit to the high banked ¼ mile oval was in 1992 when Johnny Williams of Lexington, TN..
Track promoter Ricky Spurgeon was looking for something different to bring the race fans of west Tennessee to the track and since the super late model series had not been to the track since 2001 he thought it would be a good idea to bring the series back. The Southern All Stars will be holding their third series event at the track and look to crown a third different winner in three races there and also look to have a great show for the west Tennessee fans. Hayden Campbell Picks Up First Win In Sprint Car At East Bay Raceway Park
GIBSONTON — At East Bay Raceway it was Austin Sanders picking up the win in the Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds. Nick Hebrank won in the Outlaw Fours, Hayden Campbell won in the East Bay Sprints, Doug Horton won in the Late Models, Dan Darnell won in the Florida Old Time Modifieds and Dustin Cates won in the Mini Sprints.
In the Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds it was Austin Sanders holding off the Varnadore brothers. Mavrick came in second with Travis in third. (more…)
Beckner crowned Sportsman King of the Blacktop
Heading into Saturday night’s Sportsman King of the Blacktop 100 at Desoto
Speedway, Earl Beckner had a simple strategy: ride in the top 15 and then
get to the top 10 to get to the final 20-lap shootout.
Beckner did just that, finishing in the top 10 in the first segment and
landing in the perfect spot for the inversion of the final segment of the
elimination-style race. That gameplan – coupled with a little help from
Lady Luck – saw Beckner take the main event and earn the crown of King of
the Blacktop for the Sportsman for 2016. (more…)
