Fittipaldi gets first ever NASCAR Late Model Win at Fall Brawl

10-01-2012 – Lee Faulk Racing and it’s youngest driver, Pietro Fittipaldi have been inching closer and closer to that elusive first victory of the season. With one race left on the schedule, everything came together and the team pulled off what may be the biggest win the the history of Lee Faulk Racing.

The Fall Brawl is an annual 200 lap event held at the end of the regular season that sees many big name drivers come to try and capture the trophy. Rain would cancel most of practice on Friday and Saturday of the event this past weekend, forcing teams to go straight to qualifying mode. Fittipaldi would qualify 5th in the 22 car field with a time of 15.407.

This was a decent effort and it would not take long for Pietro to make his move to the front.

“The first 100 laps we were just trying to work our way into position and save our left side tires the best we could knowing we would get two new right sides at the halfway break.” Michael Faulk said of the game plan this past Saturday.

At halfway, Fittipaldi had moved from 5th into the 3rd position. David Garbo Jr. and Austin McDaniel traded the lead back and fourth in the first one hundred laps as well as the first 30 laps of the second segment. (more…)

Tim McCreadie Fends off Brett Hearn for 358-Modified Series Victory

Steve Gray Wins Sportsman Modified Series Race at Cayuga County Fair Speedway

WEEDSPORT, N. Y. – October 3, 2012 – A year away from his small block did no harm to Tim McCreadie’s performance during Wednesday night’s NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week Kickoff presented by FX Caprara. McCreadie qualified well for Wednesday’s 75-lap DIRTcar 358-Modified Series race, starting six, and charged through several early-race cautions to take the lead in lap 5.

“We were fast early. We died a little mid-race, but we picked up at the end,” said McCreadie, a World of Outlaws Late Model Series regular. “Lapped traffic didn’t really seem to help.”

Leaders McCreadie and Brett Hearn reached lapped cars in lap 33, racing two- and three-wide, neck-and-neck, until Hearn slid past McCreadie for the lead in lap 43.

Hearn built a sizable lead over McCreadie, but “T-Mac” overtook him with just a few laps to go.

“We swapped the lead back and forth several times,” said Hearn, who took second at the checkered flag. “I knew where we needed to be at the end of the race, but I just couldn’t get to where we needed to be.” (more…)

Friesen Exudes Confidence Despite Cancelation Of Wednesday’s ‘Happy Hour’ Practice At NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLI

Canadian Star Will Bid For Record-Tying Third Consecutive Victory In VP Small Engine Fuels 200

SYRACUSE, NY – Oct. 3, 2012 – By Kevin Kovac/DIRTcar Racing P.R. – Stewart Friesen is ready to chase history during NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLI at the one-mile New York State Fairgrounds.

The cancelation of Wednesday afternoon’s ‘Happy Hour’ practice session due to wet conditions didn’t dampen the positive outlook of the 29-year-old star from Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., who will bid to become just the second driver to win three consecutive editions of the prestigious DIRTcar big-block Modified VP Small Engine Fuels 200.

“It would’ve been nice to get some laps today, but we’ve been good here the last two years and we’ve got the same team, all the same stuff and all the right pieces,” said Friesen, who now resides in Sprakers, N.Y. “We have a good setup and we have a good gameplan for this place. That takes a lot of ‘what-ifs’ out of it.

“It’s nice to have the confidence that we’re not gonna be searching for speed when we do get on the track.” (more…)

$5K-TO-WIN GREENVILLE SPEEDWAY GUMBO NATIONALS UP NEXT FOR THE NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The red hot 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division $20,000 Championship battle returns to Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS this Friday night and Saturday night for the $5,000-to-win 60-lap 6th Annual Gumbo Nationals.  Just 18 points separate the top two drivers in the point standings with two races left in the season.

Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series standings with 1,688 points based on one win, eight top five finishes, 15 top ten finishes and one fast time award in 20 starts driving the Hedman Husler Special.  Turner has three NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS career wins, and two of those have come at Greenville Speedway.

Turner is looking for his first NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series title after being the only driver to have competed in every series event held since its inception in 2005.  Turner has had a runner-up, and two thirds in the point standings, and would like to celebrate in his hometown at the head table of the NeSmith Chevrolet Awards Banquet in January at the Thunder Road Museum and Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville, GA. Campbell, Hemric, Bice and Atkinson Win at the CRA Fall Brawl

Clermont, IN (September 30, 2012) – On a bright sunny fall afternoon at CRA’s MEP Fall Brawl 2012 presented by Ultra Cool Brake Fans one driver lead 85 of 100 laps and did not win, in another race a driver lead 56 of 100 laps, and did not win, while two drivers lead over 90% of the laps in their races on their way to win.  The day also had two of the CRA divisions Season Championships decided, one lead grew slightly and one lead changed hands in a very tight battle.

In the Jack Links Beef Jerky 100 presented by Assembly Products and Great Deals ARCA/CRA Super Series, John Hunter Nemechek jumped out to the lead on the fifth lap and held it until a caution on lap 90.  On the restart Brian Campbell took the lead while Nemechek and Johnny VanDoorn came together with Nemechek spinning while VanDoorn continued.  Series point leader VanDoorn had started on the tail of the race after finishing second in the Glass City 200 at Toledo Speedway on Saturday night and missing ARCA/CRA Super Series practice and qualifying.  (more…)

Give It All You’ve Got

Jim Rouse, BRP Media (10-1-12) Ocala, FL – As October starts we start the final run with our Scorpion Racing Products Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, Barfield Law Group Mini Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators. Points mean everything but there’s plenty of glory to go around with them.

Points have been hard to come by in the Scorpion Racing Products Modifieds as Kyle Bronson does not lose. With 11 wins in the 16 races so far in 2012 he has a massive lead over Dalton Lanich and Jeff Mathews. Mathews took a win earlier but Lanich is still chasing that big win at the oldest track in Florida. Other competitors such as 71-year old Buzzie Reutimann, Wayne Hammond, NASCAR driver David Reutimann, and Mark Whitener have also won in 2012. As the season continues on we’ve seen that Hammond Motorsports and Kyle Bronson have found the set-up and they ran with it. Garret Stewart continues to chase a win and, of course, Kent Corbin continues to regain his old ways and how amazing would it be for him to win at the track his father built! Never count anyone out in the Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Open-Wheel Modifieds.

Friend’s Racing and Sheffield Motorsports picked 2 heavyweights to go all out for the Hobby Stock title and the fans have been rewarded with quite a fight. Gamble and Wright continue to go back and forth as Gamble takes the quicker Friend’s Racing #12 to the front (4 points-paying times exactly) but Wright keeps the Sheffield #99 in the top 5 every week and has reeled off 6 wins so far. Mike Stalnaker, Hunter Gustafson, and Mark Maresca have a nice fight going on for 3rd-5th as Stalnaker keeps his under-powered #9 up front. Gustafson continues to improve and has become a well-rounded driver while Maresca finds new speed and new life every week. However, none of those drivers have won as the likes of Tim Powers, Josh Byrd, Tim Gay, Josh Bedenbaugh, and Kevin Durden spoil the party and show why they are some of the best Hobby Stock racers in the Southeast. In fact, every driver has shown that they can compete in the most competitive Hobby Stock division around! (more…)
