This weekend Auburndale Speedway will host the 2013 Florida United Promoters Series 2-Day Finale for the Super Late Models, Regal Automotive Group Pro Trucks, and the Racecar Engineering Sportsman. In the SLM division the best drivers in the state will be on hand to see who can beat Brooksville’s Daniel Webster who holds a 43 point lead over Sarasota’s Jessie Dutilly who will be making a charge to gain the top spot and collect the $5,000.00 points fund prize at the banquet in January. Also expected to be on hand are the “Naples Gang” led by Billy Bigley Jr., his son Dylan Bigley, and Troy McNabb, rookie of the year candidates Randy Anderson and Anthony Cataldi. Coming in from Lake Panasoffkee will be Todd Brown who will be joined by Michael Waltrip Racing’s driver development driver Patrick Starpoli from Ft. Lauderdale. Also expected are Kevin Macy, Jonathan Guy, David Green, Steve Dorer, Jeff Scofield, Brooke Storer, Daniel Keene Jr., Jessica Murphy, Nick Neri, Travis Roland, Joe Winchell and others. FUPS would like to extend an invitation to the following SLM drivers, 2011 FUPS Champion Tim Rusell, Joe Boyd, David Wilson, Mike Bresanhan, Jake Perkins 2011 rookie of the year, Herb Neumann Jr., Eddie King, David King, Scott Grosenbacher, Anthony Sergi, Chris Fontain, Mike Smith, Daryl Shelnut, Kurt Jett and anyone else to come take the challenge of the tight 1/4 mile Auburndale Speedway this weekend.
In other action for the weekend, the Regal Automotive Group Pro Trucks will have Naples Steve Darvalics trying to hold onto his slim 9 point lead over Concord North Carolina’s Jessie Green driving the Coulter Motorsports Chevy Silverado. Chasing them will be young duo from Lakeland of Dylan Martin and Becca Monopoli, also in the hunt expected are Mica Williams, Jessica Murphy, Dustin Dunn, Cole Partelo, Tommy Caveney, and Naples Sam Scott. Joining the FUPS SLM & Trucks will be the Racecar Engineering Sportsman running their final race for 2013. Leading the points is Bartow’s Brandon Morris who has 5 wins this season, he’ll be challenged by James Wright III who has 2 wins, Bobby Mobley who captured the inaugural race back in March. Cody McDuffie in the always sleek looking red #25, Jay Curry, Joe Dowdy and a host of others will join in the fray.
Joining the FUPS travelers this week will be the Legends, Bando’s, V-8 Bombers, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, Mod Mini’s, Scramblers, and Figure 8’s. There will be an open practice on Friday night from 5-10:00pm. with free cookout to kick the weekend’s activities off for all the teams and their families.
