Ocala Speedway Banquet Is January 30th

OCALA, FL- Sunday, January 30th, will be the date of the Ocala Speedway Championship Banquet as racers, speedway staff, and race fans, come together to celebrate another great year of competition and to hand out award trophies to many deserving racers.

The banquet celebrating the 2010 racing season will be a daytime event, running from 3 PM until 7 PM at the speedway. Tickets will be $15 per person and can be purchased at the door.

The form is located under the Winternationals tab along with the other 2011 Driver Registration Forms.

East Bay 35th Annual Winternationals Closing In

The 35th Annual Winternationals is just a few weeks away. February 2nd is a practice day for the Open Wheel Modifieds and Mod Lites. Then, February 3rd kicks it all off with the first night of racing. February 3-5 will be the Open Wheel Modifieds along with the Mod Lites. Then February 6th is practice night for the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Models as they get set to run a full 6 nights of action starting on February 7th until February 12th. February 16th will be a practice night for the 360 Sprints along with the Mini Sprints as they will run from February 17-19. Then finally will be the NeSmith Crate Late Models and the 1st Annual World Street Stock Nationals. Their practice night will be February 23rd and racing begins on the 24th thru the 26th. So get your tickets and get ready to join us here at The Clay By The Bay for our 35th Annual Winternationals.

Putnam County to Host 100 lap Thunder Stock Race

The regular season does not open until Saturday, Feb. 12, but dirt-track enthusiasts get their first look at the Satsuma oval in more than a year January 22, when it hosts a 100-lap Thunder Stock race along with a 35-lap Open Modified Event.

The speedway is re-opening under the management of a Palm Coast couple, Bob and Ingrid McClellan, who each bring experience to their roles.

A business contractor and onetime Late Model driver, Bob has spent six weeks with veteran track worker Jimmy Pugh of Satsuma on a variety of projects – applying new clay to the racing surface and remodeling both the concession stands and the scoring tower. (more…)

O’Reilly All Stars To Open Winternationals At Ocala

For the third year running, Florida’s oldest speedway, the historic Ocala Speedway located just off I-75 in Marion County, is hosting the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions 410 Sprint Cars to open the 2011 Winternationals events.  And as sprint car enthusiasts have come to know, the events at Ocala Speedway will once again be the most affordable way for fans to see these alcohol fueled machines in action, with adult gate admission a mere $20 and $25 for each of the two scheduled nights of racing.

Action will begin on Thursday, February 3rd, as racers will take advantage of a 6PM practice session to test their prowess on Ocala’s tricky 3/8ths mile layout.  (more…)

DRIVERS MEETING SLATED FOR AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY ON JANUARY 20TH

Auburndale Speedway will be holding a meeting for all classes next Thursday, January 20th.   At the meeting, drivers will be able to register their cars in order to to make the check in lines go faster at the beginning of the year and
they can also purchase their banquet tickets.

All drivers are reminded that the speedway would like all of them to attend the banquet so that ALL drivers can be recognized and appreciated as well as the class champions.

Once again, the meeting will be held on Thursday, January 20th, 7 PM, at
Auburndale Speedway in the main grandstands.

Checkered Flag Sprint Series Crowns Champion

Checkered Flag Sprint Series crowned the 2010 series champions Saturday night, January 8th at the annual awards banquet ceremony held at the Red Rose Inn & Suites in Plant City, Fl. The evening started with cocktails and a buffet style dinner for the seventy some guests that attended the event.

Mark Gimmler of Palm Beach Gardens, Fl. was crowned the Driver Champion, his first sprint car title. Driving the Norm Gimmler # 51, his first championship also, the team had 6 top ten finishes, 5 top five finishes, 1 feature win and a Barfield Clean Sweep win.

Jimmy Alvis Jr., in his first full year with the CFSS finished second and was awarded the Performance Analysis Rookie of the Year, with 7 top ten finishes, 3 top five finishes, 1 feature win and 1 Barfield Clean Sweep. Gary Gimmler was third with 5 top five finishes and 1 feature win. Fourth went to Keith Butler with 5 top ten finishes, 4 top five finishes 1 feature win and 1 Barfield Clean Sweep. Amanda Ferguson finished fifth for the second year in a row with 6 top ten finishes and 4 top five finishes.

Checkered Flag Sprint Series Announces Banquet Details

Our champion’s banquet will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Red Rose Inn and Suites in Plant City, FL. Tickets are still available at $35.00 per person, with a cutoff date of Monday, January 3rd for ticket sales. Trophies and cash awards will be presented to the top 15 in points attending the banquet. Top Gun Sprint Series Announces Seasons Opener

The Top Gun Sprint Series will open they 2011 season at the Hendry County Motorsports Park on Saturday, February 26, 2011 for the first annual “Swamp Cabbage Shoot Out”

This will be the first time the series has visited the 1/3 mile, semi-banked dirt oval.

Tim George and Ryan Partin battled all season, with Tim winning the 2010 championship by only 18 points, both are expected to return in 2011.

The series had 58 different teams earn point in the 2010 season.

Along with the Top Gun Sprints, the Open Wheel Modified Southern National Shoot Out and the Pure Stocks, Street Stocks and Mini Stock will be kicking off their 2011 season.

Join us Saturday, February 26th, 2011 for a weekend of racing and family fun in Labelle, Florida, starting with the 45th annual Swamp Cabbage Festival, Parade, Rodeo, Food, Arts & Crafts, Miss Swamp Cabbage, Armadillo Races and fun for all ages. The Parade Starts February 26th at 10:00AM.
