You get ½ off!! Read on, more on this later. With an extra week off, area Racer’s are chomping at the bit to get back up to speed, and that is exactly what they’ll do this Friday Night when action returns to the high banks of 5 Flags Speedway for our Annual Super Stock Showdown. The Sportsman Division and the Bombers will also be on the program, along with the return of the popular Pro Challenge cars.
Super Stocks from around the southeast will converge this week for the only 50 Lap event of the season, excepting the Snowball Derby. The extra distance event is viewed by many competitors as a good tune-up for the Derby. Previous 2011 Super Stock winners Bubba Winslow and Paul Jean will headline a large field of Super Stocks that will include 2010 Derby winner Jessie Reid, 2010 Champion Randy Thompson, former Champ Shannon Jackson, the return of Greg Young, Mike Moore, Panama City driver Jr. Skipper, Crestview’s John Shuffler, and Mississippi’s Darin Mathews, just to name a few. Mathews will once again see double duty as he will field his sharp looking Pro Challenge car as well.
Speaking of challenges, the entire Sportsman field will be trying to eclipse the winning streak of Steve Buttrick. Current points leaders Jim Pokrant, Marty White, and Tina Davidson will lead the charge. April 22nd runner-up Stevie Mercer will also be one to watch. If Buttrick can pull off yet another win Friday Night, the Speedway will post a bounty on him the next time he competes.
Speaking of bounties, one more win in the Butler U Pull-it Bombers by Curtis Faircloth, and he too will be bountified. Curtis is 3 for 3 in the Bomber races so far this year. Leonard Craig Jr. is currently second in the standings, enjoying a really good start to the 2011 season.
So, what’s up with ½ off you ask? Grandstand admission is ½ off this Friday Night. A bargain entertainment value you sure don’t want to miss. And please, tell your co-workers, tell your neighbors, and most importantly, tell all your Family. And by the way, you just never know what famous person might show up next. Hope to see you Friday Night at “America’s Favorite Home Track.”
