Must See Racing Sprints Must See Sprints Added to MegaMeltdown at Hickory

Charlotte, NC – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry is pleased to announce that the 12th Annual Mason-Dixon MegaMeltdown 300 weekend at Hickory Motor Speedway will expand to include the Must See Racing Sprint Cars. The MegaMeltdown will be the final PASS National Championship Series race of the year and will feature the best Super Late Model racers from across North America as they compete for over $15,000 to win. And, for the first time ever, the MAV TV cameras will be rolling as the MegaMeltdown will be televised, flag-to-flag for a nationwide audience. For the Must See Racing Sprints, the event is shaping up to be a showdown, pitting the best winged Sprint Car racers from the Midwest against some of the South’s top asphalt racers.

“The MegaMeltdown is already getting a great response from racers and fans across the country and looks like it will be one of the biggest races of the year,” said PASS President Tom Mayberry. “The addition of the Must See Racing Sprint Cars only adds to this great event. It will give our stock car fans the chance to not only see Winged Sprint Cars race on asphalt, but it will also give them a glimpse of some of the fastest cars to race on short tracks period. These guys have been setting track records everywhere they go and I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see them do the same at Hickory again.”

In 2015, Must See Racing joined PASS for their first-ever event at the legendary Hickory Motor Speedway. This year’s MegaMeltdown weekend will close out the 2017 season for the Midwest’s best asphalt Winged Sprint Car drivers as they get set to compete against some of the South’s best “Winged Warriors.” The MegaMeltdown will pit the top Southern and Northern winged pavement sprint car drivers head-to-head for the final time this year. This event could prove to be one of the biggest pavement sprint car events ever held in the South. In addition, the event is expected to draw the top pavement sprint cars drivers from across the nation.

“We are delighted to be back at Hickory Motor Speedway again and excited to be able to work with Tom Mayberry and the staff with PASS to bring ‘The Fastest Short Track Cars In The World’ to one of the biggest weekends of short track racing in the southeast,” said Must See Racing founder and president Jim Hanks. “Hickory has always been a favorite venue of our drivers and teams and we look forward to a fantastic show as we close out our season and crown our two division champions for the year in one action-packed weekend of racing.”

Entry forms and the complete weekend schedule for upcoming events at Oxford Plains Speedway, Orange County Speedway, and Hickory Motor Speedway are now posted at ProAllStarsSeries.com.

Tyler Bare of Rockridge Baths, VA leads the Triple Crown point standings.

Here’s the complete payout for the Saturday night Little General Stores 40 at Princeton Speedway: 1. $2,000; 2. $1,000; 3. $700; 4. $600; 5. $500; 6. $450; 7. $400; 8. $375; 9. $350; 10. $325; 11. $315; 12. $300; 13. $275; 14. $265; 15. $250; 16. $250; 17. $250; 18. $250; 19. $250; 20. $250; 21. $250; 22. $250; 23. $250; 24. $250.

The final Jewel of the 12th Annual FASTRAK Triple Crown will feature three tight point battles that include the Triple Crown points, the FASTRAK South East Region points, and the FASTRAK Mid-Ohio Valley Region points. Just 11 points separate the top five in the Triple Crown points, and only 18 points separate the top five drivers in the FASTRAK SE points chase.

Bare leads both the Triple Crown and the FASTRAK MOV point standings. Bare has 67 Triple Crown points and is fresh off a victory in the second Jewel of the Triple Crown last Saturday night at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, VA. The second-generation driver holds a three-point advantage over former FASTRAK Champion Ron Parker of Belwood, NC, who has 64 points.

Benji Hicks of Mt. Airy, NC and Brent Hilton of Rural Retreat, VA are tied for the third spot in the Triple Crown standings with 60 points apiece. The current FASTRAK SE point leader Matthew Nance of Ronda, NC is fifth in the Triple Crown standings with 56 points.

Nance is the first driver during the 2017 season to hold the FASTRAK SE point lead after two straight races. Nance, who has 241 points, has used three top four finishes in his last three starts to sit on top of the points list with a win, a second-place effort, and a fourth-place showing.

Parker is currently second in the FASTRAK SE points chase in his quest for a second championship. Parker has 235 points, just six points behind Nance. While Parker is only driver in the top five of the point standings to have not yet held the top spot, he has been consistent with a pair of third-place finishes in his last three races.

Hicks is third in the FASTRAK SE standings with 231 points. Hicks is the only driver with two FASTRAK wins this season and has been in the Championship hunt since winning the season opener on April 1 at Toccoa Raceway in Toccoa, GA.

Jensen Ford of Piney Flats, TN is fourth in the FASTRAK SE standings with 225 points and one win this season on June 17 at Toccoa Raceway. Ford is trying to recover from a couple of hard luck races where he was involved in accidents not of his own making.

The defending FASTRAK SE Champion Cla Knight of North Augusta, SC is fifth in the standings with 223 points and one win this season on July 22 at Screven Motorsports Complex in Sylvania, GA. Knight didn’t really hit his stride until Labor Day Weekend of last season, so he is still a legitimate title contender.

Bare leads the FASTRAK MOV standings with 133 points. The battle for second is tight with just three points separating four drivers. Parker is second with 115 points and Hicks is tied with Nance for the third spot with 114 points apiece. Ford is fifth with 112 points.

Also expected for the FASTRAK Little General Stores 40 this Saturday night at Princeton Speedway will be the defending FASTRAK Triple Crown Champion Ross Bailes of Clover, SC and the FASTRAK SE Futures Cup point leader 18-year-old Corey Almond of Appomattox, VA. The FASTRAK Futures Cup is a point fund for FASTRAK drivers under the age of 20 at the start of the season.

At the conclusion of the Little General Stores 40, the 2017 FASTRAK Triple Crown Champion will be honored in Victory Lane in a special ceremony where he will be Crowned, Draped with a Robe, and handed a Scepter.

The winner of the Little General Stores 40 will be a Guaranteed Starter in the FASTRAK Pro Late Model Series 40-lap $3,000-to-win, $229-to-start Lewis Automotive/Little General Stores 7th Annual UBB 29 Miners Memorial Race at Princeton Speedway on August 12.

On Saturday at Princeton Speedway, gates open at 4:30 p.m., with FASTRAK Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection from 4:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. The Drivers Meeting is set for 6:45 p.m. with Hot Laps and Racing to follow.

Hicks has four top five finishes and five top six finishes in six races. Ford has two top five finishes and six top eight finishes in six races.

The two FASTRAK SE wins on Hicks’ scorecard so far this season came on April 1 in the season opener at Toccoa Raceway in Toccoa, GA and on June 3 at Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, VA in the USA 100. Ford’s FASTRAK SE win so far this season came on June 17 at Toccoa Raceway.

Not only are Hicks and Ford close on the points sheet, but they are also close in what they do away from the track and what they both bring to their respective racing teams. During the week, Hicks works building race cars at Longhorn Chassis in Trinity, NC. On the FASTRAK SE Tour, Hicks drives the T&K Enterprises Longhorn.

Ford builds race cars at a shop he grew up at, TNT Race Cars in Piney Flats, TN. TNT Race Cars is owned by Ford’s parents, Tony and Teresa Ford, who were inducted into the FASTRAK Hall of Fame at the Annual Awards Banquet in January. Jensen Ford drives the Tim Byrd Motorsports TNT.

Another stat that makes the FASTRAK SE a hotly contested Championship battle is just 21 points separate the top five divers in the points chase. Matthew Nance of Ronda, NC is eight points back in the third spot with 175 points. Nance picked up his first career FASTRAK Touring win on July 3 at Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, GA in the Charlie Mize Memorial Race.

A pair of former FASTRAK Champions are sitting in the next two spots of the FASTRAK SE point standings, and are still in the 2017 title hunt. Ron Parker of Belwood, NC is fourth in the standings with 172 points, and the defending FASTRAK SE Champion Cla Knight of North Augusta, SC is fifth with 162 points.

Phillip Thompson is sixth overall in the FASTRAK SE point standings and he also leads the 2017 Rookie of the Year standings with 140 points. He has a seven point advantage in both the overall standings and the Rookie of the Year standings over Dylan Lewis of Oakland, MD, who has 133 points.

Frankie Beard of Hartwell, GA is eighth in the standings with 111 points, and Tyler Bare of Rockridge Baths, VA is ninth with 98 points. Four-time FASTRAK Champion David Smith of Inman, SC rounds out the top ten of the FASTRAK SE standings with 96 points.

CONCORD, N.C. (June 22, 2017) – After a hard crash and premature ending at Michigan, rookie driver Zane Smith is anxious to hit the reset button when the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards resumes Friday night for the Montgomery Ward 200 at Madison International Speedway.

Smith, a rookie contender from Newport Beach, Calif., enters the weekend eighth in series championship point standings. Notching two top-5 and five top-10s in six series starts, Smith is focused on getting back on-track behind the wheel of his No. 55 LaPaz – Icon Vehicle Dynamics Toyota.Zane Smith Car Shot MIS 2017

“We had a really good car at Michigan, but terrible luck and results to show,” said Smith. “I’m focused on putting that behind us and going out this weekend and having a strong race. Up until last week we had some decent momentum building. It’s time to move forward and pick up where we left off. If Elko is any indication of what we’ll have for Madison, we’ll be in really good shape.”

After missing out on competing at Daytona and Talladega, Smith is slated to drive the 55 for the remainder of the year.

“We’ve got a lot more racing ahead of us this summer… no more breaks in my schedule. Billy (Venturini) and the guys in the shop have done a great job preparing fast Toyotas. I’m looking forward to getting back in the car and putting our bad luck behind us,” Smith added.

The Montgomery Ward 200 is Friday, June 23 and kicks off with practice from 1:30 – 3 p.m., followed by General Tire Pole Qualifying at 5 p.m. The 200-lap Montgomery Ward 200 is set for an 8 p.m. start and will air live on MAVTV. All times are local (Central). Look for Live Timing, Scoring and Chat at arcaracing.com.
