The storm of racing at Bubba Raceway Park continues after a break for rain and the Top Gun Sprint Cars are back! Joining them and gunning for $1000 are the Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunderstocks, Barfield Law Group Mini Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators. And Bubba’s Pit Stop opens at 1 PM on Saturday so arrive early for a Happy Hour for the thirsty!

At the center of the Sprint Car storm are points leaders Danny Martin, Jr. (1-time winner) and Mark Ruel, Jr. Martin has looked strong in his Crawford Tire #82 while Ruel has been the same but hasn’t put his Xpress Graphixx #83 in Coors Light Winner’s Circle yet. Just 2 points behind is the 2-time winner Matt Kurtz. Those 3 are within 2 points while 5th is only 34 out. “Flyin” Ryan Partin and Andrew Griffin round out a very strong top 5. (more…)

Results from Auburndale Speedway on June 9, 2012

Saturday Night at Auburndale Speedway, the only feature race that got to run was the Bandoleros. The Legends cars came out to start their feature but the rain came and the balance of the races had to be canceled. The armbands from the pits will be honored this week, with the exception of the Bandoleros class. The winners in the Bandoleros are as follows:

This week June 16 races will feature the 50 Lap Open Wheel Modified, with $1,000. to the winner. Also scheduled to race are the Legends, Bandoleros, Modified Mini, Outlaw Modified, Scramblers, V-8 bombers and Kids Club. Races start at 7 PM.

Friday Night, June 15, the Go-Karts will have their first race of the season. Gates open at 4:30 PM. Practice starts at 6 PM, Drivers meeting at 8 PM, Racing starts at 8:30 PM.

Wayne “Rocketman” Jefferson tops Modifieds at Citrus County Speedway

Mother Nature smiled on the state of Florida this week, bringing some much needed rainfall to many parts of the state. Race fans, drivers, and crews were facing an ominous forecast for Saturday, with the chance of rain above 70% for Saturday night. The rains came and continued until 4pm, that’s when the speedway staff went to work, drying the track for a night of short track racing action. Most of the tracks in Florida were forced to cancel, leaving Citrus County Speedway the place to be. The show started right on time at 6:30 as everyone settled in for a exciting night. (more…)

The First Annual Florida State Late Model Championship

Joining the RaceCar Engineering Late Models were the Scorpion Racing Products, Buddy’s Home Furnishings Limited Late Models, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunderstocks, and a Spectator Race!

First up were the Scorpion Racing Products Modifieds and what a 20-lapper it was! A 7 lap green flag run dominated by Kyle Bronson was stopped when the lapped car of Larry Mott spun in turn 4. A 9 lap run ended when Buzzie Reutimann slowed and was spun by Jason Davis by no fault of his own. The final 4 were green as Bronson held Devin Dixon off for the victory. Jeff Mathews barely held Rich Pratt off for 3rd and Dalton Lanich finished 5th on his birthday. (more…)

Pancoast and Richards Continue Winning Streak

The first feature of the night was the T. Q Midgets were Naples driver Cowboy Rob Kohler ran start to finish as the leader. Hard Challenge from the 7 of Jamie Barnum second and Mike Belusar who passed Chris Gimmler on the last lap for third while David Patterson from Port Charlotte drove on three wheels for most of the race.

Outlaw Modifieds had twin twenty five lap features for the Dan Curl Memorial, were all drivers lined up on the front stretch before the first race and through Frisbees to the fans. Ric Mills led the first six laps till Doug Hopper got by and went on to win the first feature. Mike Endee was on Hoppers bumper while Tom Meyer and Mills were battling for that third spot. Endee finished second while Meyer was third and Mills fourth and Paul Richards Sr, rounded out the top five. (more…)

Wayne Anderson Wins FUPS 100 at Citrus County Speedway

20 of the states best Late Model drivers invaded Citrus County Speedway for race #5 of the Florida United Promoters Series Saturday night. The race program got started with time trial qualifying, with all 20 cars taking their shot at the time clock. Daniel Webster (33) continued his hot streak at the speedway by setting the fast time with a lap of 13.53 seconds. Rounding out the top 5 for qualifying were Jeff Scofield (77), Wayne Anderson (84), Steve Dorer (133), and Anthony Campi (81). The top 8 drivers from qualifying redraw for their starting positions for the 100 lap feature. Dave Pletcher (75), the 8th fastest qualifier, would end up on the pole position after the pill draw.
