BIG EIGHT DIVISION SHOW FRIDAY NIGHT AT ORLANDO SPEEDWORLD
Race fans will get their fill of action Friday night at Orlando SpeedWorld as eight classes are scheduled to be in NASCAR Whelan All-American Series competition.
Friday’s program will feature the Pro Late Models, Modifieds, Legend Cars, Mini Stocks, Sportsman, Super Stocks, Strictly Stocks and Bandoleros. It will be just the second race of the year for the Pro Late Models, Sportsman Cars and the Legends.
A rainout on April 19th canceled the second appearance for both the Pro Lates and Sportsman while the Legend Cars have not raced since opening night, April 5, but look to have more Legend races added to the schedule in the coming months. Alan Bruns won the opening race for the Pro Late Models and is expected to be at the ready to make it two in a row. At the April 19th rainout, Bruns also had his Modified in the pits as well. Young Daniel Conlin, Jr. won in his first career outing in his new Sportsman car but expect him to have a host of new challengers this week. (more…)
Full Throttle Speedway returns to action on Saturday night May 18th when a host of some of the best Super Late Model Drivers sponsored by, Turner Tree and Landscaping, are expected to come and do battle for 75 Green Flag Laps, on the 3/8-mile high-banked oval. Fans will get an opportunity to meet their favorite Super Late Model drivers and get autographs during the intermission period.
Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL – After a wash-out on May 11th, Bubba made the call to re-schedule the race for this up-coming week-end and he’s added an extra division! The NeSmith Crate Late Models, Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Modifieds, Bubba Army Hobby Stocks, Rent-N-Roll Gladiators, and now the 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks will take to the 3/8 mile for some action. The Bigwheel Race will also be run at Intermission. Don’t miss this big show!
Carol Andrews, Auburndale, FL – We had a good field of cars Saturday Night at Auburndale Speedway, the winners in each division are as follows:
St. Pete’s Bowman grabbed the lead at the start and was followed closely by Cape Coral’s Steve Arnold. Six laps in, L.B. Skaggs got around Wayne Jefferson for third and started closing on Arnold for second. Four laps later, Jefferson and Eric Rudd got together in the middle of the back stretch, sending Jefferson into the wall and ending his night.
May 11th, 2013 – Tampa, FL – Eagle Jet Top Gun Sprints made their first appearance of the 2013 Season with 19 cars ready to battle for their feature event. Also racing tonight were the Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds, Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Street Stocks and the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers.
As luck would have it, a light rain shower hit Orlando SpeedWorld just before the 8 pm start time but, after a delay of about an hour, the NASCAR Whelan All-American Series show went on as planned. The rain hit at just the wrong time as there was no sunshine or wind to help dry the track so it was up to track crews and the drivers to get the job done. A few adjustments were made to the program including scrapping the heat races to insure the show would end at a decent hour.
Orlando SpeedWorld returns to regular NASCAR Whelan All-American Series racing action Friday night with a six division program headed by the Super Late Models. Deland’s Rich Clouser led a strong 14-car field to the checker in the SLM feature two weeks ago and hopes to cash in again this week in his Sanford Auto Dealer’s Exchange Special wrenched by Bobby and Danny Sears. Expect Clouser to have a big group of challengers including young Anthony Sergi of Geneva and Cocoa’s Dusty Cornelius among others. Joining the Super Late Models will be the E-Modifieds, Pro Trucks, Super Stocks, Strictly Stocks and Bandoleros. Pit gates open at 4 pm, grandstands at 6 pm and racing starts promptly at 8 pm. General admission is $12 with all kids 12 and under admitted free of charge.
