Bubba Army Late Models Headline Beginning Of August At Bubba Raceway Park

08032013Ocala, FL- The Bubba Army Late Models return to the 3/8 mile oval in Ocala while the E-Mods, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators join them for an outstanding night of racing.

Anthony, Florida’s Rich Pratt has taken his Groeb Farms #0 to the lead in the championship, but he has yet to win in a few years in the Late Model division. Pratt has shown the speed necessary to win, but two-time winner and defending champion Mark Whitener needs his third win in the Dave’s Towing #58 so he can close the 37-point gap to Pratt. A further 22 back is St. Petersburg’s not-yet-a-teenager Tyler Clem, a Tony Stewart Racing Developmental Driver. Clem, already a winner in the Limited Late Model ranks, has been brilliant in his Elder Ford of Tampa #14 and no one would be surprised if he soon becomes the youngest winner in North American Late Model racing. Dover, Florida’s Jeff Mathews has moved his Night Hawk Towing #33 into fourth and he sits only 71 behind the leader. Kyle Bronson continues to chase the NeSmith Touring Series Rookie of the Year (and championship too) in his Brandon Ford #40B, but he is fifth in the standings at Bubba Raceway Park. (more…)

East Bay Victorious Over Mother Nature After Six Weeks Of Rain Outs

1074847_10201747285909779_925227542_oJuly 20, 2013 – Tampa, FL – It has been since May 25th since the last feature winner’s photo was taken in Victory Lane at East Bay Raceway Park. Tonight East Bay was victorious as cars and fans were able to attend The Clay By The Bay to hear the sounds of motors roaring down the front stretch and cars going side-ways through the turns on the 1/3 mile track. Five classes were on hand tonight as the Gagels, Open Wheel Modifieds, Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Street Stocks, Outlaw Fours, V8 Warriors and the Florida Old Time Modifieds were on hand to put on a show for the hungry fans.

First feature of the night went to the Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Street Stocks with Dennis Wilson, Jr and Thomas Burnside winning their heats. For the feature it was David Barwick, II and Tommy Hill making up the front row. Tommy Hill led the first lap until the caution came out as Billy Barstow spun in turn four. Hill would lead the next two laps until Jeff Rodgers and Mike Wilson tangled on the back stretch bringing out the second and final caution of the race. Tommy Hill would go on to cross the finish line first but was later dq’d in tech for the wrong tires. Hill from Clewiston made his return after five years and had borrowed tires from a fellow competitor. Buck Woodhouse who finished second was declared the winner with Thomas Burnside, Dennis Wilson, Jr., William Burnside and Jeff Rodgers rounding out the top five. (more…)

Big Night Of Racing This Weekend At Bubba Raceway Park

07202013Jim Rouse, Ocala, FL- The Bubba Army Late Models will take their shot at the 3/8 mile as will the Scorpion Racing Products UMP DirtCar Modifieds, E-Mods, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks, and the Rent-N-Roll Gladiators this Saturday night.
Rich Pratt still has a stranglehold on the Late Model points standings with a 35-point advantage over two-time winner Mark Whitener. “The Magic Man” sits another twenty-two up on Tyler Clem, the young driver that continues to impress at just ten years old. Jeff Mathews is up to fourth over good friend Kyle Bronson. Bronson won our season opener and has been as high as third in the Nesmith Touring Championship standings. Who will strike next in the Late Model division?
Charlie O’Neill is using consistency to stay ahead in the UMP Modified division, but his gap is down to three markers over Jeff Mathews. Mathews finally lost his streak of wins last time out, but he still leads the division in wins. Scott Kurtzner is only twenty-eight behind O’Neill, and Bryan Bernhardt- the Modified rookie- is only three behind Kurtzner in the tightest championship battle in recent history in the UMP Modifieds. Rich Pratt rounds out the top five. (more…)

ORLANDO SPEEDWORLD GRAND REOPENING AUGUST 3RD WITH TBARA SPRINT CARS

Orlando Speedworld LogoOrlando SpeedWorld has been undergoing a restructuring and will re-open on August 3 with theTBARA Sprint Car program rained out in June as the featured attraction. Bob Watson, formerly of Lee USA Speedway in New Hampshire, has taken over the reins as General Manager and will be bringing a number of changes to the SpeedWorld facility in order to present a “family friendly” show for the fans.

A firm schedule has not been set as of yet, but plans are to move all racing activity to Saturday nights. Watson says that in a conference call this week with himself, track owner Ozzy Moya and New Smyrna Speedway owner Robert Hart, Hart gave his blessing to moving the SpeedWorld show to Saturday night. Schedules will be set so that no conflicts will exist between the scheduling for the two tracks. SpeedWorld will hold two open practice sessions on Wednesday evenings, July 24th and 31st before returning to racing action on August 3. On the schedule along with the Sprint Cars will be the Legend Cars, Super Stocks, Strictly Stocks and Bandoleros. Further details will be made available shortly.

Bubba Raceway Park Returns To Action With 360 Sprints On Tap

BRP BannerJim Rouse, Ocala, FL- The Bubba Army 360 Sprint Cars return to the 3/8 mile in Ocala this week-end, as do all the fans and employees after a well deserved week-end off to enjoy with friends and family. The Hobby Stocks and Limited Late Models will join them, and the 1-800-ASK GARY Thunder Stocks will battle for a $500 prize. There is also a Kid’s Bike Race scheduled.
Robbie Smith has yet to win at the 3/8 mile, but he is our current points leader- if only be eight points- over “The Captain” Tony Agin who is also winless. In fact, the whole top 5 is winless as both of our winners (Matt Kurtz and Danny Martin, Jr.) have been hit-or-miss in 2013. Terry Witherspoon sits twenty-two out, but has rookie Andy Cobb breathing down his neck with just two points separating them. AJ Maddox is mired thirty-seven back after some bad luck, but it may be a hit-or-miss year if Kurtz and Martin are the ones to go by.
Tyler Clem, still happy to have a double digit age, is the Limited Late Models points leader with a runner-up finish to Tim Powers and a win last time out. Clem can’t breathe easy as Jason Pope is just eleven back and Chuck Jackson rides a further eleven down the board. Powers is fourth, fifty-eight back, and Nevin Gainey sits fifth with half of Clem’s tally as his points score. (more…)
