SpeedWeeks Ends Quickly

By- Jimmy Rouse, Bubba Raceway Park Media

The UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions and the Hobby Stocks battled hard as SpeedWeeks came to a close.

No one could’ve written a better script for the finale. Lap 1 saw Howard O’Steen and Mark Maresca spin out of turn 4 to slow the Hobby Stock feature. Doran Cheney would do the same 5 laps later. The top 3 of Tim Gay, Devin Walker, and Brian Morgan were slowed on lap 17 a total of 3 times. First when John Clark stopped in turn 1. Second for Grady Christian’s spin out of turn 2. The final when Jeff Barrett and John Clark spun out of 4. The lead never changed hands with a feel-good story win for Devin Walker. Gay was 2nd with Morgan, Kevin Durden, and Rodney Wright behind him.

A 30 lap feature saw Kistler Engines Fast Qualifier Dave Gravel start 4th after his 12.894 second lap. On lap 5 the leader, Tim Shaffer, ran into lapped traffic, literally, and bounced off the turn 1 wall ending his night. (more…)

Blaney’s Victory at Bubba Raceway Park is 85th UNOH All Star Win

OCALA, FL (2-24-12)By Brian Liskai Dale Blaney sees every race as an opportunity to learn something. On Thursday at Bubba Raceway Park, The Low Rider had to settle for a second place run on a narrow track. Friday, when given the opportunity once again to start up front, he took the experience from the previous night, and grabbed the early lead and went on to his 85th career victory with the University of Northwestern Ohio All Star Circuit of Champions.

Weve been up front all weekendthe cars been good. Last night I just didnt get the jump on Danny (Lasoski) and the track was narrow and there was nothing I could do after that. Ive been lucky enough to qualify well and put myself in a position to start up front. Qualifying has been the name of the game down here, said Blaney beside his George Fisher owned, Ti22 Performance backed machine. (more…)

World Of Outlaws Race 1

By Jimmy Rouse, Bubba Raceway Park Media

2-16-12 – The World of Outlaws Late Models and the Florida Mini Sprints battled on the clay for 60 combined laps in a night with just 4 stops.

The FMSA hit the clay for 20 laps with just 1 stop for Richard Burchettn when he slowed on lap 4. Jim Young ran the field ragged to take the win he had been so close to last week. Gavin Thomas put the Todd’s Tomatoes Team 2nd with his 68T with David Pleaugh 3rd in his Stallard. Tyler Ross and Luke Thomas completed the top 5.

World of Outlaws Late Model action was incredible with a front row of Josh Richards and Darrell Lanigan. Lanigan took the early advantage with Richards and Shane Clanton battling for the leftovers. With 15 laps down the lapped cars became trouble for Lanigan and bunched the field up. Richards couldn’t take advantage but stayed with the #29 until lap 27 when Jared Hawkins blew a left rear tire. After a lap Tim Fuller flipped the 19 in a horrific way but climbed from the wreckage unharmed. (more…)

Ninety-Two One-Thousandths

By Jimmy Rouse, Bubba Raceway Park Media (02-12-12)

Blink your eyes. You missed it. USAC and the Florida Mini Sprints had fantastic races with one separated by less than one-tenth of a second for the win.

The Mini Sprints had some excitement right out of the gate when in heat action Sheldon Kinser, Jr., son of the former USAC champion of 1977, 1981, and 1982 that he’s named after, hit the wall and had a tumble with Rudy Nonnemacher. Both drivers were unharmed and the 2JR didn’t quite quit until it was on it’s side in the infield. On lap 3 Jody Mackenzie’s 18 fell on it’s side but Mackenzie drove it back to the pit area. Jon-are Kunstbrook, driver of the 3-wide life team car, had a bad start which brought the yellow out again. On lap 9 Eddie Moss, Jr., the winner of Thursday’s feature, spun on the back and he would go no further. (more…)

UMP DirtCar Open-Wheel Modifieds Finale

For the final time this SpeedWeeks the Modifieds and Amsoil V-8 Thunderstocks took to the clay for glory and cash!

2-4-12 Jimmy Rouse, Bubba Raceway Park Media  – The Amsoil V-8 Thunderstocks started off on a bad note for 2 big hitters as Mike Stalnaker found himself shedding pieces and Davey Kinsey had a tire go down. However, 25 laps is a long race and you can never count a driver out. Grady Christian took the lead from David Miller, Jr. on lap 2 and held it for a while, even through the lap 6 caution when hard-charging Kinsey and Vaughn Woodall made contact sending Woodall’s 3W around. The accident also collected Richard Calmes, Justin Durbin, and the 2nd Woodall car of Marlon Durbin. (more…)
