Firsts And Thirds

By- Jim Rouse, Bubba Raceway Park Media 4-7-12  Scorpion Racing Products Modifieds, Top Gun Sprints, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunderstocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators battled at Bubba Raceway Park with some first timers and returns to familiar places. On lap 1 Brian Jerrels and Mark Maresca made contact and brought the caution out while Howard O’Steen led Mike Stalnaker and Trevor Gamble. On lap 5 Tim Gay passed O’Steen for the lead which he wouldn’t let slip away easy. A few cautions came out in the middle but the final yellow flew on lap 13 when William Edwards found the wall. A 1 lap dash gave O’Steen a chance but Gay held on for another win. O’Steen wound up 2nd, Stalnaker 3rd, Brian Shea finished a strong 4th, and John Clark completed a tough top 5.

After a quick lap 3 caution Mark Whitener made the pass for the lead on Garret Stewart right before Jeff Mathews race ended as his right rear went down and apparently caused more damage than just a tire. After a lap 14 caution for Jason Davis, Tyler Clem, and Larry Mott “The Killer” went after “The Magic Man.” (more…)

3/26/12 – After a one week hiatus to let drivers and crews rest and rebuild the teams are ready to get back at it. RaceCar Engineering Late Model drivers will take to the track for the 3rd time in 2012 while the Limited Late Models embark on their 2nd journey. Thunderstocks and Mini Stocks also join the action for March 31st.

Ivedent Lloyd, Jr. and Mark Whitener have a stranglehold on the RaceCar Engineering Late Models but Bo Allen, Richard Ferry, and Jason Fitzgerald are all ready to attack. Allen ‘s 71 has been quick but “The Grim Reaper” hasn’t quite scared a win out of the competition yet. Whos and Hows

By- Jim Rouse, Bubba Raceway Park Media 3-10-12

Five exciting divisions put on a show not soon to be forgotten. RaceCar Engineering Late Models, Limited Late Models (former Sportsman), Hobby Stocks, Thunderstocks, and Mini Stocks took to the track and more than a few surprises were found along the way.

The Limited Late Models started the night off and on lap 1 Blaise Hetznecker spun while running 2nd which brought the caution out. Forrest Gough led David Ponton and Jerome Dipple but under caution Ponton would not take the inside of row 1 so 5th place Kevin Mills accepted the offer when Race Control let any one willing move up to row 1. Kevin Mills used a 2nd restart to pass Gough for the lead. Mills battled through cautions each time building about a 1.5 second lead after restarts. On lap 19 Ponton and Ricky Land spun setting up a 1 lap dash. Mills nearly left the door open but he shut it as soon as it opened in turn 3 and went on to win on his daughter’s 4th birthday. Eddie Gainey finished 2nd to take home the points lead, Jerome Dipple was 3rd, Jamie Dayhaw 4th, and Wayne ONeal completed the top 5. (more…)

Bo Allen worked hard over the winter as did Bryan Bernhardt and they run in the top 5 in points early. Mark Whitener flashed brilliance and could go all the way next time out.  (more…)
