Travis Varnadore Wins Final Donnie Tanner Memorial Late Model Race

Dec. 17th, 2011 –It was the final night of the 2011 Season as two Championships were left to decide and the final Late Model event of the year going to the Donnie Tanner Memorial Series race #4 paying $3,000 to win.

The first feature of the night went to the Outlaw 4’s. Jesse Brown held an eighteen point lead over second place Nick Hebrank. Hebrank started on the pole with Brown starting in the ninth spot. When the green flag dropped, Billy Howard shot to the front after starting in the fourth spot. Howard was leading when the second caution came out on lap four for debris. But it was also bad news for Brown as he took his car to the pits and never returned, but still held the points lead. (more…)

East Bay DART Winternationals News and Notes

WAYCROSS, GA (December 15, 2011) – For the 8th consecutive year, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will sanction the DART Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL. The 36th Annual DART Winternationals will be held from Sunday, February 12th to Saturday, February 18th. This year’s events at the famed “Clay by the Bay” will kick off a little later than usual, moving back to the second full week in February. Each night, holtaps will begin at 6:00PM, with a full show to follow. The decision to push back the start times will serve fans and competitors well, allowing local fans to catch more of the action each night. Travelling fans will get to explore the greater Tampa Bay area and see the sights before heading to the track. For the competitors, the new start times will allow less laps on the track while the sun is still beating down on it, keeping the track nice and tacky all night long. (more…)

Hammond Wins Reutimman Foundation 50 At East Bay Racway Park

Dec. 10th, 2011 –Four divisions were on hand tonight for the next to last night of the 2011 Season. Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds ran a 50 lap feature event for the David Reutimann Foundation.

David held his annual charity auction last night at the Silverado Country Club in Zephyrhills. One of the prizes to bid on was a ride along with David in the 2-seater Late Model. Eric Kovach was the lucky winner and got his ride during intermission. Eric was seen waving to the crowd almost each lap. One lucky fan also was awarded as tickets were sold and over $500 was raised for David’s Foundation. Troy “Sox” Dittebrand was the lucky winner. Dittebrand, the current point leader for the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers division. (more…)

Jonathan Davenport Wins NeSmith World Championship At East Bay Raceway Park

Dec. 3rd, 2011 –Mark Whitener from Middleburg, FL set fast time at 15.758 on Friday night. Heat races were run on Friday night to determine the top 18 to be locked in the A Main for tonight. But before the 100 lap $10,000 to win, other classes were on hand.

Before the feature events two B-Mains were run and the top two from each of them went on to the A-Main. The first B-Main went to Chip Brindle picking up the win with Mark Banal finishing second. Both advanced to the A-Main. The second B-Main went to Tim McCreadie with the win and Jeff Smith finishing second. (more…)

Jesse Brown Wins Budweiser 20 Lap Outlaw 4 Feature Event At East Bay Racway Park

Dec. 2nd, 2011 – 53 cars were on hand tonight to try and qualify for the $10,000 to win, 100 lap feature event for Saturday night. After qualifying was done, Mark Whitener from Middleburg, FL set fast time at 15.758.

Six heat races were ran to determine the starting order for tomorrow’s feature.

Robbie Smith Wins Final Top Gun Sprint Race at East Bay Raceway Park

Nov. 26th, 2011 – Four divisions were on hand tonight here at East Bay Raceway Park.  The first feature of the evening went to the Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Limited Late Models. Just four points separated the top two in points. Scotty Williams was in first over second place Jason Pope. In the heat race, Williams had some problems and took his car to the pits. When the feature started, it was Scotty Williams who took the early lead with Pope chasing him. Several cautions came out bringing Pope just two cars back. On the last restart Williams was back out in front and by lap ten, had a straight away lead over Shane Koperda. Williams went on to win his fifth feature win of the season and winning the Championship by a mere two points over Jason Pope. (more…)

Scotty Williams Wins Budweiser 20 For Limited Late Models At East Bay

Nov. 12th, 2011 – Six divisions were on hand tonight once again here at East Bay Raceway Park. After tonight’s events, there will only be four weeks of racing left for the 2011 Season.

The first feature of the evening went to the Outlaw 4’s. J.R. Baker and Jesse Brown made up the front row for the feature. Jesse Brown took the early lead with Billy Howard hot on his bumper. Howard took the lead from Brown on lap four and Brown appeared to have mechanical issues which brought out the caution and headed into the pits. When the green flag waved again, Howard was on a mission and never looked back picking up his first feature win of the season. (more…)

Buzzie Reutimann Wins Budweiser 20 For Open Wheels Modifieds At East Bay Raceway

Nov. 12th, 2011 – Six divisions were on hand tonight here at East Bay Raceway Park. At Intermission, it was an Autograph session with the Old Time Mods. Kids of all ages came to see the cars from the past along with the men who drive them.

The first feature of the evening went to the Street Stocks. Jeff Rodgers and Locke Brown won the heat races ealier in the night. Mike Eaton and Garry Sheffield made up the front row for the feature. At the drop of the green flag, Mike Eaton took the early lead with Rodgers closing in. First caution came out and brough Rodgers right on Eaton’s back bumper. (more…)

Billy Boyd, Jr. Wins Final Night Of East Bay Sprints At East Bay Raceway Park

Nov. 5th, 2011 – Six divisions once again were on hand tonight here at The Clay By The Bay. At Intermission, was the popular Fan Participation races with a ten cars ready to battle. When it came down to the two lap final race, it was Todd Ford against Fred Long. Ford picked up his second win in a row after winning last month’s Big Jim Bargo Memorial Race.

The first feature of the evening went to the Outlaw 4’s. Stephen Hohlbaugh and Raymond Folwell won their heat races early on and made up the front row for the fifteen lap feature event. When the green flag waved, Folwell quickly took the lead going into turn one. On lap five, birthday girl Megan Rae Meyers, Kyle Worden, J.R. Baker and Chris Zimmerman got caught up in an accident in turn four, sending Meyers and Zimmerman to the pits. When the race resumed, Folwell lead the race to the checkered flag with a great battle for second between Brittany Yates and Jesse Brown. Yates crossed the line second with Brown third. Jamie Burrows fourth and Hohlbaugh fifth. (more…)

Dave Schmauss Wins Third Race In Donnie Tanner Series For Late Models

Oct. 29, 2011 – Six divisions on hand tonight here at The Clay By The Bay. At Intermission, drivers gave out candy to kids of all ages for Halloween with a kids costume contest for 12 & under.

The first feature of the evening went to the Street Stocks. Thomas Burnside and Donnie Reed won heat races early in the night. When the green flag dropped for the feature, Jarod Gay quickly grabbed the lead with Donnie Reed, Jeff Rodgers and Locke Brown once again battling for the front spot. Reed was able to make his way around Gay on lap six and showed why is the defending Champion of the Division.  Gay held on to second place while Rodgers held onto third. Locke Brown finished fourth and Jason Burnside rounded out the top five. (more…)
