16 Mini Stocks started the night of hot racing action started with time trial qualifying for the Floral City Animal Clinic 50 lap feature for the Mini Stocks. After each driver took their shot at the time clock, Jeremy Sharrone (32) showed he knew the fast way around, taking top qualifier honors with a fast lap of 16.06 seconds. Jeff Eberly (01) would be your second fast qualifier with a lap of 16.18 seconds, and Ashlee Williamson 3^rd with a 16.33 second lap. Once qualifying was over, the drivers starting positions were in the hands of the fans, the starting field invert would be up to the fans. To no ones surprise, the fans wanted a full field invert, leaving your fast qualifier starting in the very last row. Jeff Eisenhauer (73) would benefit from the inversion and start on the pole position alongside Matthew Jenkins (10), who was making his first start of 2012. Eisenhauer would jump out to the early lead, but 3^rd starter Shawn Jenkins (43) would make his way to the top spot by lap 3. 13 Super Late Models came to the green for their 35 lap feature with Randy Anderson (4) on the pole with his sharp looking new body. Anderson would jump out to the early lead with outside pole sitter Drew Brannon (82) falling into the second position. Brannon would go to work on Anderson for the lead right away, taking away the top spot on lap 6. Brannon would bring 6^th place starter Herb Neumann Jr (98) with him to the 2^nd position. The field would be slowed for it’s 1^st caution at lap 11 for contact between Todd Brown (23) and Steve King (16). (more…)

Karlin Ray’s rookie season in the Citrus County Speedway Pure Stock division has been up and down. While the young driver has shown he has the speed to contend, he had lacked the consistency to run up front. Combine that with some mid season motor problems, and any other rookie may have let that shake their confidence. Saturday night, Ray would return with his new power plant for the first time since his first feature win ever in May. After coming away victorious in his heat race, Ray (72) benefited from the two row feature inversion, starting in the 3^rd position for the 20 lap Pure Stock feature. Sheri Makula (27) would jump to the early lead from her pole position and look to run away from the field. (more…)

Two weeks ago Herb Neumann Jr left Citrus County Speedway with a severely damaged race car after the Florida United Promoters series 100 lap race. Neumann was making a late charge to the front when contact with the front stretch wall ended his night. The front of his racer was so badly damaged, they had to repair and weld parts back on, just to get the car in the trailer.

A short 13 car Super Late Model was lead to the green by pole sitter Eddie King Sr with Scott Grossenbacher  (09) along side. King would jump out to the early lead while Grossenbacher pulled even on the outside to challenge for the lead by lap 2. (more…)

Mother Nature smiled on the state of Florida this week, bringing some much needed rainfall to many parts of the state. Race fans, drivers, and crews were facing an ominous forecast for Saturday, with the chance of rain above 70% for Saturday night. The rains came and continued until 4pm, that’s when the speedway staff went to work, drying the track for a night of short track racing action. Most of the tracks in Florida were forced to cancel, leaving Citrus County Speedway the place to be. The show started right on time at 6:30 as everyone settled in for a exciting night. (more…)

20 of the states best Late Model drivers invaded Citrus County Speedway for race #5 of the Florida United Promoters Series Saturday night. The race program got started with time trial qualifying, with all 20 cars taking their shot at the time clock. Daniel Webster (33) continued his hot streak at the speedway by setting the fast time with a lap of 13.53 seconds. Rounding out the top 5 for qualifying were Jeff Scofield (77), Wayne Anderson (84), Steve Dorer (133), and Anthony Campi (81). The top 8 drivers from qualifying redraw for their starting positions for the 100 lap feature. Dave Pletcher (75), the 8^th fastest qualifier, would end up on the pole position after the pill draw. Citrus County Speedway fans filed the stands for 6 divisions of racing on Saturday night. By the end of the night, many probably left the speedway wondering what had happened in many of the races. An usual night of carnage and destruction plagued a few of the classes, and left the fans on the edge of their seats.

17 Super Late Models were brought to the green flag with Todd Brown (23) and Randy Anderson (4) on the front row for their 35 lap feature. Anderson would jump out to the early lead from his outside front row starting position before a lap 2 caution would slow the field. Anderson would lead on the restart with Brown in 2^nd, and Jim Smith (3) in 3^rd. (more…)
