Nick Hoffman Makes It a Weekend Sweep at Oakshade

Series Returns to Action on July 29 and 30 at the Fairbury American Legion Speedway

071616HoffmanOakshadeWAUSEON, Ohio – July 16, 2016 – Saturday’s DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals feature at Oakshade Speedway was again the Brian Ruhlman and Nick Hoffman show – and again, it was Nick Hoffman who came out on top.

Ruhlman started on the front row and quickly pulled to the lead. It took Hoffman slightly more time to clear for second, but once he did, the two leaders pulled away from the field.

A mid-race restart gave Hoffman the shot he needed – when the green flag flew Hoffman took the highline and battled around Ruhlman. Hoffman maneuvered through traffic late and held off Ruhlman through a restart to sweep the weekend double-header at Oakshade Raceway.

The win is sixth of the season for Hoffman who leads the series points going into the final events. (more…)

Schatz Scores his Third Kings Royal Title and 15th World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series Victory of the Year

071616SchatzKingsRoyalVLROSSBURG, Ohio – July 16, 2016 – It has been nearly a decade since he last stood in victory lane at the Kings Royal, but Donny Schatz looked like a natural as he was crowned King Donny XXXIII – his third Kings Royal title since 2007 – on Saturday night at Eldora Speedway.

“This is unbelievable,” Schatz said. “It’s been a challenge here all weekend and it’s one of them places, we felt like we’ve been good at the Royal and we’ve maybe just done the wrong things. But not tonight. We were awesome all night. These guys got the car qualified well, got through the Heat, the car was awesome in the Heat races. It’s such a blast.” (more…)

Nick Hoffman Scores in Oakshade Opener

Returns to Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals Victory Lane for the First Time Since July 5

071516HoffmanOakshadeWAUSEON, Ohio – July 15, 2016 – Nick Hoffman had some work to do in the opener of the first ever DIRT Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals double-header at Oakshade Raceway on Friday night as had to battle past a hard-charging Brian Ruhlman and Cory Daugherty to score his series-leading fifth win of the tour.

The current points leader started back in the field but made easy work of several of his competitors. Cory Daugherty put up a several lap fight but Hoffman battled around. Then he started to reel in Ruhlman as Ruhlman closed in on the tail of the field.

Through traffic, Ruhlman opened a lane on the bottom for Hoffman to get around. Ruhlman tried to run him back down but Hoffman held him off. Through the closing laps and a late restart, Hoffman continued to be the class of the field.

“That was a huge stepping stone toward this deal,” said Hoffman, of Mooresville, N.C., about his pursuit of the DIRTcar Modified Nationals championship “After last night, I thought we had a really good piece and then made the wrong adjustments before the feature and just got our butt kicked. We were really good tonight. Ruhlman ran me hard in the feature but I knew I had the perfect racecar for this type of condition. We’ve just got to get another one tomorrow, keep everything in one piece and see what we can do.” (more…)

Three for Jason Feger with Oakshade Win

With an Insurmountable Championship Points Lead, Bobby Pierce Feels Relief

71516FegerOakshadeWAUSEON, Ohio – July 15, 2016 – Jason Feger rebounded Friday night at Oakshade Raceway, beating Ryan Unzicker who get the better of him the night before and claiming his third DIRTcar Summer Nationals win of the season.

Feger started on the outside pole and jumped out to the early lead but Unzicker ran him down and battled past him on lap 15. Feger, not wanting a repeat of the night before at Merritt, wheeled the car into turns one and two on lap 16 and took back the top spot.

Through the remaining distance Feger had his hands full with Unzicker right behind, but this time it was Feger celebrating in victory lane.

“I told him he got his (victory) last night, so he had to share,” Feger said of Unzicker. “I knew the top was good, but it’s just a lot easier to make a mistake up there… I felt like I was better up the track, but I figured, if somebody’s gonna pss me, I’m gonna make them go around me on the outside.” (more…)

Richards Reels-in No. 10 at Ogilvie

Clanton Finished Second after Starting Ninth

071316_Ogilvie_RichardsOGILVIE, Minn. – July 13, 2016 – Josh Richards held his pointer finger high in the sky Wednesday night, repeating his victory lane celebration in the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series for the 10th time this season at Ogilvie Raceway. It was his 68th career series win.

“It was tough, I’ll tell you,” Richards said. “I want to thank the track guys. It’s a beautiful facility and I wasn’t expecting it to be this nice. It’s a great place to come. I didn’t think we’d have 10 [wins] this year and this early.”

Richards, who led the field into the green flag for 50 laps, never lost his top spot. Within the first 10 laps, Richards widened the gap between him and the field with his No. 1 Valvoline/ Seubert Calf Ranches Rocket car; the other two cars in the podium positions began to separate themselves as well.

On lap nine, Richards caught-up to the back of the pack only for the race’s first caution to follow on the next lap.  On the restart, Rookie of the Year contender Tyler Erb took the highest line on the 3/8-mile oval, passing Eric Wells. Wells prevents a slippery slope, slamming the door on a charging Steve Casebolt. By lap 15, Richards extended his lead to 3.66 seconds. (more…)
