Marlar Hopes Pursuit Of Victory On World of Outlaws Late Model Series Is Over After Sunday (March 24) Visit To Duck River Raceway Park

Tennessee Standout Focused On Defeating WoO LMS Stars In National Tour’s Inaugural Event At Quarter-Mile Track In His Home State

20130315-150746.jpgWHEEL, TN – March 19, 2013 – Mike Marlar knows all too well what it feels like to lose a World of Outlaws Late Model Series A-Main, so it’s no surprise that he harbors a burning desire to experience the ecstasy of a Victory Lane appearance on the national tour.

There could be no better time for the veteran standout from Winfield, Tenn., to finally realize his goal of a World of Outlaws triumph than this Sunday evening (March 24) when the renowned full-fender circuit visits Marlar’s home state for a 50-lap, $10,000-to-win spectacular at Duck River Raceway Park.

Indeed, it’s checkered-flag-or-bust on the WoO LMS this weekend for Marlar, a 35-year-old talent who has come tantalizingly close to victory several times on the series over the past two years while driving for Bryson Motorsports.

“Actually, this weekend we’re going out of our way to go Outlaw racing because I just really want to win an Outlaw race,” said Marlar, who plans to precede his assault on Duck River by entering WoO LMS events on Friday night (March 22) at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., and Saturday night (March 23) at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Miss. “After coming up short (of a World of Outlaws A-Main score) a few times, after having a few near-misses, we’re really hungry to win one. MERIDIAN, MS – March 17, 2013 – Finally, Bub McCool has the luxury of a World of Outlaws Late Model Series event in his backyard.

The renowned national tour will makes its inaugural visit to Whynot Motorsports Park on Sat., March 23, giving McCool, 35, of Vicksburg, Miss., his first chance to battle the World of Outlaws stars in his home state since becoming a circuit regular last year.

“It’s definitely nice to have an Outlaw show so close to the house,” said McCool, who will seek to keep the $10,000 first-place check for Saturday night’s 50-lap WoO LMS A-Main from leaving Mississippi. “We’re on the road all year with the Outlaws, so, for a weekend anyway, we don’t have to go so far. It makes things a little easier.”

Dollansky Claims First Victory of the Season at Thunderbowl Raceway

He has at least one win each of the past 10 WoO STP Sprint Car Series seasons
20130317-135307.jpgTULARE, Calif. – March 16, 2013 – There were some fist pumps and a couple of shouts; high fives and loud smiles. But the significant moment was a likely long, long exhale.
Ok, it’s not like Craig Dollansky was a team on the bubble for the NCAA tournament. But his World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series feature victory on Saturday at Thunderbowl Raceway was much needed in the tireless effort toward momentum.

Coming off arguably his most successful racing season, Dollansky struggled in the first seven races of this season. He entered Saturday ninth in the championship points standings, hadn’t led a feature lap and had only three top 10s and no top fives this season.

Kaeding King at Treacherous Thunderbowl Raceway Once Again

He picks up his second straight World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series win at third mile

20130316-121422.jpgTULARE, Calif. – March 15, 2013 – It wasn’t the typical place a race fan would imagine Tim Kaeding was headed after yet another victory.
Visibly exhausted and likely sore, Kaeding mustered a smile and laugh when describing his postrace celebration plans after ending his Victory Lane celebration surrounded by a packed grandstand of his biggest supporters on Friday night at Thunderbowl Raceway.

“Sit in an ice cold bath,” he said.

It was an elbows-up type of night during the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series opener at the high-banked, third-mile oval, which featured more cars on two wheels than a typical motorcycle race.

That fit right into Kaeding’s style and background, even if the track known to be rough was the roughest ever. (more…)

LITTLE ROCK, AR – March 14, 2013 – Wendell Wallace understands the significance of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series event on Fri., March 22, at I-30 Speedway.

It was Wallace, after all, who stood in Victory Lane nearly 16 years ago the last time a national dirt Late Model tour visited the quarter-mile, high-banked oval known as ‘Hammer Hill.’

“I-30 is way overdue to have a big Late Model show,” said Wallace, an accomplished driver from Batesville, Ark., who will celebrate his 47th birthday on Saint Patrick’s Day. “I can’t believe (I-30 promoter Tracey Clay) ain’t had one in so long, but that’s making this World of Outlaws race an even bigger deal. I think she’ll pack the place (on March 22).”

Wallace will be one of the entrants chasing the checkered flag in the 50-lap WoO LMS A-Main, which boasts a $10,000 first-place prize that matches the winner’s purse Wallace received for capturing I-30’s last major full-fender affair, a Hav-A-Tampa/UDTRA Dirt Late Model Series event on Aug. 1, 1997. CHICO, Calif. – March 13, 2013 – Silver Dollar Speedway is a demanding race track. It takes precision, skill, experience and sometimes, cojones.
The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series will kick off the second half of its spring swing throughout the West at the high-banked, quarter mile on Saturday, March 23, for the Mini Gold Cup.

“Chico is a pretty challenging place,” Chad Kemenah said. “You never know what you’re going to get. I don’t think you ever go there two days in a row and see the same thing. That place there, you leave there in a good mood or you leave there just mad at the world.” (more…)

The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series debuts at the 3/8 mile on Friday, March 2220130313-202434.jpg

STOCKTON, Calif. – March 13, 2013 – There aren’t many better ways to break in a new track than to host the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series.
That’s exactly what Stockton 99 Dirt Track is doing on Friday, March 22, when the premier sprint car series in the country will welcome another track to the California fraternity.

“As long as we can get more race tracks in California I think that’s great,” Jason Sides said. “It’ll be good to go there and see what it’s all about. I hear it’s a big track so another big track in California like Calistoga, that’d be great.”

Stockton 99 Speedway, which is located on the San Joaquin Fairgrounds, recently added the big 3/8-mile dirt track to the impressive facility. Stockton 99 Dirt Track was built in the infield of the old horse racing track at the fairgrounds and it joins a quarter-mile paved track, a karting track and a drifting track on the property. Strong Start Has McCreadie Anxious To Resume Action On World of Outlaws Late Model Series

Tripleheader Weekend March 22-24 In Arkansas, Mississippi & Tennessee Next Up For National Tour

CONCORD, NC – March 6, 2013 – Tim McCreadie is finally home in upstate New York following a near month-long, season-opening racing odyssey in the Southeast. But as much as the 38-year-old dirt-track star relishes a break in his schedule that provides time to work on his racing equipment and hang out with his girlfriend Karen and toddler son Gavin, he’s admittedly already eyeing his next trip south.

McCreadie is, quite simply, feeling too bullish about the upward trajectory of his racing fortunes to sit idle. He has a smile on his face and a spring in his step as he prepares for the upcoming World of Outlaws Late Model Series tripleheader that features 50-lap, $10,000-to-win A-Mains on March 22 at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark.; March 23 at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Miss.; and March 24 at Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, Tenn.

“I think our team is headed in a positive direction,” said McCreadie, who is in his second season campaigning Warrior Chassis cars bearing the colors of Carl Myers’s Sweeteners Plus Racing operation. “We’re close to where we want to be and that has me excited.” (more…)

Pittman Prevails at Wildcat Shootout Presented by NAPA Auto Parts

20130310-165444.jpg

TUCSON, Ariz. – March 9, 2013 – You don’t need to be a teacher to give Daryn Pittman a grade at the head of the class.
Heck, he gives himself an A+ so far this season with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series and rightfully so.

Pittman, who won the season opener after accepting an offer to drive for NASCAR star Kasey Kahne during the offseason, became the first repeat winner of the season on Saturday in front of a near capacity crowd at Tucson International Raceway during the Wildcat Shootout Presented by NAPA Auto Parts.

“It’s been an A+ for sure,” he said. “I think all of us are really disappointed in our first night at (Las) Vegas. That was our first humbling experience as a team, but nobody was down. We got messages all night from each other, just stay positive and come back the next day. And we rebounded with a solid night at Vegas the second night.

“This is a tough sport and a grueling year that we know can turn around in a hurry. So we’ve just got to stay focused, go into the next race and try to win.” (more…)
