Moyer Masters DIRTcar Summer Nationals Chris Smith Memorial at Paducah International Raceway

2013_HELL_TOUR-300x196PADUCAH, Ky. — June 28, 2013 — Billy Moyer led the final 22 laps of the 40-lap Chris Smith Memorial on Friday night at Paducah International Raceway for his first DIRTcar Summer Nationals victory of the year.

Moyer, of Batesville, Ark., started the A-main in third behind polesitter Tyler Reddick, who dominated the first half of the feature. Moyer caught Reddick and eventually passed him on lap 19. He then stretched his advantage over the remaining laps, and held off a late challenge from Ryan Unzicker, to end a winless streak that dated back to March and capture the $10,000 payday at Paducah International Raceway.

“It’s been a long time coming,” said a relieved Moyer in victory lane. “We’ve had a horrible year, but we haven’t given up. We just keep working hard. My guys work their tails off. We keep trying things and sometimes you go backward before you go forward.” (more…)

Kaeding Claims Another World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Bullring Win

Californian holds off Schatz for his sixth victory as slidejobs fly at LaSalle Speedway

20130608-141535.jpgLASALLE, Ill. – June 28, 2013 – Tim Kaeding powered to victory on Friday night at LaSalle Speedway for his sixth World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series victory of the season.

Kaeding, of San Jose, Calif., started on the pole but had to fend off several drivers’ attempts to knock him off his perch. The field had to endure four attempts to start the event before completing a lap. Kaeding and Aussie James McFadden, who was making his first World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series start of the season, led the field to the green flag each time. McFadden would have jumped out the lead on the first few attempts, but on the final start it was Kaeding capturing the advantage.

After getting the jump on McFadden, Kaeding had to keep the new track record holder, Paul McMahan, at bay for several laps. McMahan started the night by setting quick time with a 10.330 before a strong run in the feature. McMahan held second for several laps before five-time champion, Donny Schatz, started to make the bottom of the track work and moved up to the second spot. Schatz assaulted Kaeding anytime the pair encountered the slightest bit of traffic, but the Californian would not surrender the lead. (more…)

Speedway. Preston Seratt started on the pole for the A-Main, but looped his car in turn one on the opening lap, making slight contact with Kenny Wallace. Lucas Lee led the remaining 15 laps of the race, holding off a late-race charge from Bart Richardson to capture the $1,000 checkered flag. (more…)

2013_HELL_TOUR-300x196ATWOOD, Tenn. – June 27, 2013 – Brandon Sheppard, with a little bit of good luck, scored his fourth victory of the 2013 DIRTcar Summer Nationals “Hell Tour” Thursday night when leader Shannon Babb’s car broke with two laps remaining at Clayhill Motorsports.

Sheppard sat on the pole and led the race’s opening 18 laps before surrendering the lead to Babb, who then dominated the next 20 laps and looked as if he was going to cruise to his second win of the season. However, Babb’s car quit on him with two laps remaining and Sheppard slipped by Babb and held off Dennis Erb Jr. to secure the $5,000 checkered flag for the second consecutive year at Clayhill Motorsports. 062713_Lerner1VLSARVER, PA – June 27, 2011 – Josh Richards was a man on a mission Thursday night at Lernerville Speedway.

It also got him back on track after a winless four-race swing through New York and Canada that he ended with an uncharacteristic 13th-place finish on June 25 at Canandaigua (N.Y.) Motorsports Park. Matt Cooper Rides Cushion to Victory in the 2013 Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals at Clarksville Speedway

20130613-163224.jpgCLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — Matt Cooper raced side-by-side with Trent Young for the last handful of laps on Wednesday night before outdueling him on the final straightaway and claiming the $1,000 checkered flag in the eighth points event of the 2013 DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals tour.

Victory At Cornwall Motor Speedway Gives Lanigan Sweep Of World of Outlaws Late Model Series Doubleheader In Canada

Defending Tour Champion Inherits Lead From McCreadie, Beats Resurgent Clint Smith To Finish Line

062313_CornwallVLCORNWALL, ONT – June 23, 2013 – Stick a maple leaf on Darrell Lanigan’s car and call him the King of Canada.

The defending World of Outlaws Late Model Series champion from Union, Ky., completed an undefeated trip north of the border with the national tour on Sunday night, outrunning the resurgent Clint Smith of Senoia, Ga., down the stretch to capture the 50-lap A-Main at Cornwall Motor Speedway.

“I kind of like coming up here to Canada,” said Lanigan, whose $10,650 triumph backed up his WoO LMS score three days earlier at Brighton (Ont.) Speedway. “We always seem to run well at these tracks up here.”

Lanigan, 43, benefitted from a dose of good fortune to win his series-leading sixth race of 2013. After race-long leader Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., had his full straightaway edge over Lanigan wiped out by a lap-28 caution flag, the restart saw McCreadie slow on the homestretch due to a broken driveshaft and spin into the infield – a dramatic turn of events that handed the top spot to Lanigan for good. Simpson Scores First DIRTcar Summer Nationals Victory at Tri-City Speedway

062113_SN_TriCity_VLPONTOON BEACH, Ill. – June 21, 2013 – Chris Simpson passed Brady Smith for the lead on lap 18, then led the remaining 22 laps en route to his first DIRTcar Summer Nationals “Hell Tour” victory on Friday night at Tri-City Speedway.

With a field of 43 cars in attendance, Simpson of Oxford, Iowa, started the race from the fourth position and ran third for the first 10 laps. Then he changed his driving line and ran down pole-sitter Brian Shirley, who was running second. Simpson was definitely in the right groove because after he cruised past Shirley, he went by Smith and captured the $10,000 checkered flag.

“I jumped up to the top early there and wasn’t too good,” Simpson said. “So I just ran that momentum line. I bought this car from Brian Birkhofer and I’ve watched him win a lot of races running that line. It worked for us tonight.” (more…)
