Michael Head Jr Memorial Next Up For Southern All Stars
FAYETTEVILLE, TN – The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series returns to action on Saturday night August 13th at the Talladega Short track for the 19th Annual Michael Head Jr Memorial, a 40 lap $4,000 to win race that honors the son of 1991 Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series Champion & Hall of Fame member Mike Head. Michael Head Jr was killed in a carjacking in Atlanta, GA., and was just starting his career in racing when the tragedy happened. “This has always been a big event for the series as well as Talladega Short Track,” said GM Lynn Acklin.
Past winners of this event include Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN., who has won the event four times, Mark Mears of Decatur, AL., who has three wins, Danny Peoples of Margaret, AL., two times as well as William Thomas of Phenix City, AL., and Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN. COLUMBUS, MS – The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series returned to the Magnolia Speedway in Columbus, MS., for its annual visit at the 13th Annual Cliburn Truck Lines Governors Cup and three time Southern All Star series champion Riley Hickman of Cleveland, TN., got win #2 on the season and also a $5,000 payday in the 50 lap main.
FAYETTEVILLE, TN—The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series spent the July 4th weekend in the Peach State of Georgia and Toccoa, GA., driver Casey Roberts picked up his second & third wins the season as he took the win in the Roscoe Smith Classic at the Senoia Raceway in front of a full house Saturday night. Roberts battled side by side and swapped the lead with Riley Hickman until Roberts took over the top spot for good on lap 11 as Roberts slid under Hickman and then checked out of the rest of the field to get the win, the 7th of his Southern All Star career.

EASTABOGA, AL–Saturday night three time Southern All Star Champion Riley Hickman finally got to where he has been trying to since the season started and that is first place in 2016 and that he did as he led all 42 laps to get the $4,200 check in the B J Parker Memorial at the Talladega Short Track. Hickman got his first Southern All Star win of the year and his 5th in his Southern All Star career, which moved him into the top 20 in all time wins, tying him with drivers Jerry Inmon, Buddy Morris, Johnny Stokes, Bill Frye, Earl Pearson Jr & Billy Moyer.
FAYETTEVILLE, TN–The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series will be back in action this Saturday night May 21st for the 4th Annual Scott Sexton Memorial at the Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, TN., for a 52 lap $5,200 to win event . The event honors Sexton who in his short Southern All Star career collected 10 wins that all accounted for $10,000 wins the most by one driver in series history. Past winners of this event include 2014 Ray Cook of Murphy, NC, 2013 Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY., and in 2012 Chris Madden of Gray Court, SC.,
SENOIA, GA–The Southern All Star Dirt racing Series returned to the Senoia Raceway Saturday night for the first time since 1987 and before a standing room only crowd Shane Clanton of Zebulon, GA., took the win worth $5.125.
FAYETTEVILLE, TN–The Southern All Star racing name last appeared at the Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA., was when the track was paved, well the asphalt series ceased operations after the 2005 season and the track at Senoia returned to dirt and so the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series will be back in action at the track for the second Annual Billy Clanton Memorial 50 lapper that will pay $5,025 to win and $400 to start Saturday night May 14th.
