HUNTSVILLE, AL (September 8, 2012)—The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series will head back to the Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, TN for the Grant Adcox Memorial / Coca-Cola Stars and Stripes 40 on Saturday Night September 15^th.

The event, which was scheduled to be run on July 14^th will feature the SAS Late Models for the fourth time this season at Cleveland competing for $3,500 to win. In previous visits to the Cleveland Speedway this season there have been three different winners with wins going to Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN during the Shamrock in April, Skip Arp of Georgetown, TN claimed the TN memorial race in May then Billy Ogle Jr. claimed the Budweiser Jean Johnson Memorial event in August.

Two-time series champion Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN in the Outlaws Race Products GRT special leads the series points heading into Cleveland over Mike Weeks of Friendsville, TN then Shan Smith of Dade City, FL is third in series points, William Thomas of Phenix City, AL is fourth and defending series champion Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, TN is fifth. Take II on Saturday September 8^th at Tazewell

HUNTSVILLE, AL (September 3, 2012)—After Hurricane Isaac made its presence knows over the last few days, the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series and Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN are both ready to get back to the business at hand.

The Fourth edition of the Buddy Rogers Memorial at Tazewell Speedway will be ran this Saturday Night September 8^th paying $4,400 to win and be 44 laps in length for the Feature event, in memory and honor of long time East Tennessee competitor Buddy Rogers. The event was originally scheduled for Sunday Night September 2^nd but Hurricane Isaac wouldn’t allow, thus forcing track owner Gary Hall to postpone the event to its new date of September 8^th.

The event will feature a complete show of Practice, VP Racing Fuels Qualifying, Hoosier Racing Tire Last Chance Showdowns and the 44-lap Feature event. Also racing on Saturday will be the Modified Streets, Pure Streets and Four Cylinders. The Tazewell Late Models will not be in competition that night. (more…)

TAZEWELL, TN (September 2, 2012)—With the threat of inclement weather coming in later today, Tazewell Speedway Owner Gary Hall has decided to postpone the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series-sanctioned Fourth Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial to next Saturday September 8th.

‘I hate to call one this early but with the weather forecast showing the way it is, rains coming in from around 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm plus folks coming from long ways we felt it best to cancel ahead of time to let everyone know’ stated track owner Gary Hall.

The Series will now race next Saturday for the second try at getting the Buddy Rogers Memorial event in at Tazewell Speedway, $4,400 to win for the SAS Late Models plus supporting divisions. This will start the stretch of three straight weeks of racing for the SAS Late Models who will now compete September 8th, 15th and 22nd. (more…)

Buddy Rogers Memorial 44 Visit Marks First Trip by SAS to ‘The Taz’ Since ‘06

HUNTSVILLE, AL (August 26, 2012)—For the first time since June of 2006, the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series will make an appearance to the ‘Bad Fast’ Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN for the Fourth annual running of the Buddy Rogers Memorial, a Labor Day Holiday Weekend Classic on Sunday Night September 2nd.

This will mark the 14th appearance ever by the Alabama based SAS organization to Tazewell Speedway. The SAS first appeared on the Tazewell schedule in May of 1997 with Scott Sexton of Pigeon Forge, TN claiming the event win. The series would run the high banks annually through 2006. When the SAS last visited Tazewell, Chris Madden of Gray Court, SC claimed the event win. Among winners of SAS at Tazewell, that list includes: Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN (twice); Duayne Hommel of Newport, TN (twice); Scott Sexton (twice) and single victories by Skip Arp, Billy Ogle Jr., Mike Head, Chris Madden, Steve Smith, John Thompson and three time SAS Champ Ronnie Johnson.
