Moyer Sweeps Qualifying Night Fast-Time Honors In World of Outlaws World Finals Debut
Veteran Driver Tops 74-Car Field On Opening Night Of Blockbuster Event At The Dirt Track At Charlotte
CONCORD, NC – Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark., made a spectacular debut at the World of Outlaws World Finals, sweeping fast-time honors in both rounds of Thursday’s Qualifying Night program at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.
The legendary driver was perfect in his first-ever World Finals appearance, topping an ultra-competitive field of 74 cars that were signed in for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series portion of the huge tripleheader weekend. The event also attracted 55 winged machines for the companion World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series meet and 49 entries for the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modified action.
World Finals Qualifying Night featured two rounds of WoO LMS time trials – the first to line upFriday night’s heat races and the second to align Saturday night’s preliminaries.
Moyer, 56, turned a lap of 15.413 seconds in Group ‘A’ during the first round of time trials and bettered that with a circuit of 15.304 seconds in Group ‘B’ during Round 2. His clockings were the overall fastest of both qualifying legs, giving him the 17th and 18th WoO LMS fast-time honors of his career. (more…)
Carol Andrews – Auburndale Speedway races on Saturday night were postponed until Sunday afternoon due to rain. We had a good field of cars on hand for the triple 50 lap Florida United Promoters Series race. The winners in each class are as follows:
FAYETTEVILLE, TN—The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series will make its final stop of the year Saturday night November 16th at the Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, TN., for the 25th Annual Budweiser/Joe Lee Johnson Gobbler. A 50 lap $5,000 to win $300 to start event.
The Eagle Jet Top Gun Sprints will invade the Hendry County Motorsports Park on Saturday, November 2, for their third and final Eagle Jet “SHOOT OUT” event. The racing should be action packed with double points being awarded for both the “Shoot Out” and the season points. Each race team will be guaranteed $225.00 to start the feature and anyone not starting the feature will receive $100.00 appearance money.
This Saturday marks the return of the FL United Promoters Series to Auburndale Speedway for the Triple 50’s. Headlining the night’s action will be the Sunoco Open Wheel Mod’s for their final race of the season. Lake Alfred’s, Travis Roland leads the points chase over L.J. Grimm from Seffner, FL. Josh Todd, Norm Dismuke and Wayne Jefferson round out the top five. In the Regal Automotive Group Pro Trucks, Steve Darvalics of Venice will try to hold onto his slim lead with just two races remaining for the trucks. Young Dylan Martin of Lakeland, Jessica Green in the Coulter Motorsports Chevy, Dustin Dunn in the always fast Dodge Ram, and Becca Monopoli of Lakeland are all in the hunt with just 19 points separating the top five. Leading the battle in the Racecar Engineering Sportsman division is Mulberry’s Brandon Morris with Auburndale’s James Wright III on the chase picking up his second win of the season back on Oct. 5th. Bobby Mobley, Cody McDuffie, and Jay Curry round out the top five.
CONCORD, NC – Oct. 21, 2013 – When Mark Richards added the 33rd annual Red Buck Dirt Track World Championship to his team’s racing schedule earlier this year, he assumed his son Josh would be behind the wheel of his familiar Rocket Chassis house car for the 100-lap event at Portsmouth (Ohio) Raceway Park.
PORTSMOUTH, OH (October 19, 2013) – Brandon Sheppard of New Berlin, IL captured the biggest race of his young career winning the 33rd Annual RED BUCK Dirt Track World Championship at Portsmouth Raceway Park on Saturday Night. Sheppard at age 20 became the youngest driver in the history of the DTWC to win the crown jewel event. Sheppard earned $50,000 as he became the 24th different driver to win the DTWC and captured his first career Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory.
The Florida United Promoters Series Super Late Models will return to their “Home Track”, Auburndale Speedway this Saturday October 19th for the running of the REGAL KIA-CHEVY 100. With just a few races remaining for the crowning of the 2013 Champion, the points battle has tighten up between Wayne Anderson who lost twenty five points and was fined after an altercation at Citrus last month and Daniel Webster from Brooksville now only seven points separate them. Third place in the standings forty points behind Webster is Sarasota’s Jessie Dutilly who holds a thirteen point lead over Naples Billy Bigley Jr..
