Devin Gilpin Ready For Another Shot At DIRTcar Nationals by Summit Glory During Feb. 11-18 UMP Modified Action

Two-Time Defending UMP Modified National Champion In Search Of First-Ever Triumph At Florida’s Volusia Speedway Park

DIRTcar LogoBARBERVILLE, FL – Jan. 30, 2014 – Devin Gilpin’s 2013 DIRTcar UMP Modified national championship season was downright spectacular, but it didn’t start in especially memorable fashion.

And that blemish on an otherwise impeccable campaign will serve as extra motivation for Gilpin when he returns to Volusia Speedway Park – the site of his rare ’13 struggles – from Feb. 11-18 to tackle the UMP Modified portion of the 43rd DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment.

Yes, Gilpin, 23, of Columbus, Ind., has some unfinished business to take care of at the sprawling half-mile oval outside Daytona Beach, Fla.

“Volusia wasn’t much fun for us last year,” bottom-lined Gilpin. “We only raced two nights. We had some trouble, there were a couple rainouts and, with my grandma not doing very good (battling cancer back in Indiana), we decided to just go home (early).”

Gilpin, of course, had entered the 2013 DIRTcar Nationals by Summit with high hopes. Coming off a 2012 season that saw him record 36 feature wins en route to his first-ever UMP Modified national title – and with memories of a strong third-place finish in the ’12 DIRTcar Nationals by Summit finale at Volusia adding to his confidence – he had visions of a career-first victory in the Sunshine State dancing in his head. Return To Rocket Chassis Has McCreadie Bullish About 2014 World of Outlaws Late Model Series Championship Prospects

New Yorker Ready To Kick Off Season Feb. 14-16 At Bubba Raceway Park & Feb. 20-22At Volusia Speedway Park

012413_TMac1CONCORD, NC – Jan. 24, 2014 – Whether Tim McCreadie can raise his game sufficiently to make a serious run at the World of Outlaws Late Model Series championship in 2014 remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: he isn’t lacking for confidence as he plunges into the chase.

When the national tour’s ’14 campaign kicks off with the Bubba Army Dirt Late Model Winter Nationals on Feb. 14-16 at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Fla., and the DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment on Feb. 20-22 at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla., McCreadie fully expects to be in the title conversation.

“I wouldn’t go out on tour if I didn’t think we had a shot at winning the championship,” Watertown, N.Y.’s McCreadie asserted with steely-eyed resolve. “That’s always the focus. Now, it hasn’t worked out that we’ve been a contender the last few years, but we’ve always thought we had good enough cars and help to win a championship and it’s no different this year.” (more…)

Double file restart procedure changed for 2014 ARCA Racing Series, starting in Daytona

arca-logo-2010(TOLEDO, Ohio) – Officials from the Automobile Racing Club of America have announced the adoption of a revised “double file restart” procedure for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards 2014 season. The new rule will be in effect starting with the Lucas Oil 200 presented by MAVTV American Real at Daytona International Speedway Feb. 15.

Here’s how it will work: Following a caution period and pitting cycle, series officials will verify the running order and position cars in proper order. When the starter gives the “one lap to go,” signal, cars will line up in two columns for all restarts in the “double file” format after they cross the start/finish line, unless otherwise directed by ARCA officials. The leader will have the choice of which lane he or she will restart. Previously, ARCA’s double file restart placed lead-lap cars in the outside lane and all lap-down cars in the inside lane with no lane choice for the leader.

“I think it’s a good change,” said Cunningham Motorsports driver and ARCA veteran Tom Hessert. “The goal of any series is to make the races more competitive and more exciting and this will do that.” (more…)

Champion Pittman Seeks Repeat Win When World of Outlaws STP Sprint Cars Invade Tucson for NAPA Wildcat Shootout

‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ rolls March 8 into Arizona’s Tucson International Raceway

The action is always fast and fierce on the banked 3/8-mile oval in southern Arizona. Daryn Pittman held off Joey Saldana to win last season in Tucson. Pittman used the victory to extend his early-season points lead en route to winning the 2013 World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series championship for Kasey Kahne Racing.

“I really love Tucson,” Pittman said. “I told Kasey last year I was really excited about Tucson. I had never won there before, but it’s a really a fun track that suits me. It’s pretty flat and wide and somewhere I really enjoy.”

In addition to the on-track action, NAPA Auto Parts is now title sponsor of the event and, in conjunction with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series, will enhance the entire race experience for fans during the series’ only trip this season to Arizona. Also, fans can get $5 off their race-day ticket purchase by bringing a valid receipt from any area NAPA Auto Parts store.

Steve Kinser, the 20-time World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series champion who is celebrating his “Salute to the King” season, earned a victory in March 2007 at Tucson.
