Hagerstown and Roaring Knob up Next for Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series

WAYCROSS, GA (April 21, 2014) – The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will return to action this weekend with two single day shows. The series will travel to Hagerstown, MD on Friday, April 25th for the running of the 33^rd Annual Stanley Schetrompf Founders Day Classic at the historic Hagerstown Speedway. Hagerstown Speedway, known as the “Capitol of Dirt Racing” will host the nation’s best dirt late model drivers, along with an always-stout group of regional drivers for the ninth time in series history. An impressive streak of eight different winners in eight races at Hagerstown is on the line with Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN returning as the defending champion of this event.

The 33rd Annual Stanley Schetrompf Founders Day Classic will include a complete show with Miller Welders Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, and $10,000 to win 50-lap feature event. Joining the LOLMDS as support classes at Hagerstown Speedway will be the Late Model Sportsman, Pure Stocks and Rookie Divisions. Pit gates will open at 2 PM with Grandstand gates opening at 5 PM and Hot Laps scheduled at 7 PM. ARCA/CRA Super Series Ready to Battle at Anderson Speedway Saturday

Salem, IN (April 22, 2014) – The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will return to action this Saturday night at Anderson Speedway, the famous high-banked quarter mile racetrack located in Anderson, Indiana, has hosted more Super Series events than any other track since the series’ first ever event on Saturday, April 26, 1997. Anderson Speedway has hosted a total of 54 series events to date. Former two time series champion Brian Ross is the all-time series victory leader at Anderson Speedway with nine victories.

This will be the only opportunity for the ARCA/CRA Super Series teams to get some racing on the tight quarter mile prior to the prestigious Stoops Freightliner Redbud 300, which has been moved for the 2014 season to Saturday, June 14^th.

Georgia hot shoe T.J. Reaid is entered and looks to claim his third straight Anderson Properties 125 Presented by Great Deals Coupon Magazine after winning the event in 2012 and 2013. Reaid was not only the winner of those two events, but was also the EDCO Welding Fast Qualifier at each one, showing he definitely knows how to get around the fast quarter mile. (more…)

Danny Martin Sweeps Volusia

EagleJetTopGunlogoBlackSmall The Eagle Jet / Top Gun Sprints made their first visit of 2014 to Volusia Speedway Park on Saturday April 19, 2014. There were 19 cars at the track to give fans three heat races and a 25 lap feature race.

Kyle Pitts in the 7 car had the pole for the start of the BROWN & MILLER heat race. Kyle took the lead on the start, and then it was Danny Martin got around him for the win. The 02 of Gene Lasker had the pole for the start of the DMI heat race. Gene and took the race lead and led from start to finish taking the heat win. AJ Maddox in the 3A car had the pole for the start of the LUCAS OIL heat race; AJ took the lead and the heat win.

The 38 of Tony Agin had the pole for the start of the Eagle Jet feature race event, with the 24 of Danny Martin alongside. After a parade lap, the race went to green and it was Tony Agin in the 38 car that took the lead then the 24 of Danny Martin got out front and never looked backed and took the checkered flag, followed by Tony Agin in the 38 car, Matt Kurtz in the 82 car, Mark Ruel Jr. in the 83 car, and AJ Maddox in the 3A car rounding out the top 5.

Auburndale Speedway Hosts the 7th Annual Billy Harvey Memorial 100

This Saturday Auburndale Speedway will host the 7th Annual Billy Harvey Memorial 100, early expected entries include points leader Jonathan Guy, Jessie Dutilly, 2013 FUPS Champion Daniel Webster, Todd Brown, George Gorham, Anthony Cataldi, Steve Dorer, rookie contender Jessica Murphy, Jeff Scofield, Billy Bigley, Dylan Bigley and a host of others. Joining the nights action will be the always exciting V8 Bombers, Scramblers, Mini Stocks, Mod Mini’s and Street Stocks.

Added to the purse for the Harvey Memorial is over $4,000.00 in bonus money awarded by the “Billie Harvey Memorial Fund”. There will be open practice on Friday night 4/25 from 5-10:00pm., pits will be open for parking on Saturday at 10am, with the gates opening at 2:00pm.. Grandstands open at 5pm., qualifying at 6pm. racing starts at 7:00pm.

$3,000 Memorial Pro Truck Race Winner: Mica Williams

Mica ShowTime Speedway (Pinellas Park, FL) April 19, 2014 – Florida Pro Truck driver Mica Williams, captured his first Pro Truck win in the first Southern Pro Am Truck Series’ Larry Moyer Memorial 81 Lap Pro Truck Race at ShowTime Speedway. ShowTime Speedway’s packed house of racing fans and the friends and family of the late Larry Moyer endured the drizzle to watch an exciting Saturday night of Pro Truck racing. Many of Moyer’s friends were in the pits working on the Pro Trucks while some strapped on their helmets to race. Dave Pletcher and Bob Spaeth were two friends that raced in the Memorial Race. Pletcher drove the number 74 Moyer Motorsports Pro Truck, and Spaeth, who drove the number 2 Pro Truck and finished eighth, wore one of Moyer’s old racing suits.

With a light rain drizzle, fourteen Pro Truck drivers started the main feature race to not only battle each other, but also to battle wet track conditions. Mica Williams’ driving skills were showcased as he worked past local fan favorite Jay Zolciak and held off fierce competitors in Becca Monopoli and Jessica Murphy. Williams brought home $3,000, was fitted for a Championship Lug Nut Ring and he earned additional bonus money for leading at the halfway mark. An anonymous and close friend of the late Larry Moyer donated the bonus money for the halfway leader. (more…)

McLeod & Smith Winners at Auburndale FUPS Races

Devin McLeod held off the challenges of 2013 FUPS OWM Champion Travis Roland for the final 25 laps of the Stanfield Mobil Home Movers 75 lap OWM race presented by Performance Plus Carts on Saturday night to take home $3,000.00 for the victory at Auburndale Speedway. McLeod rolled out the sleek shinny #21 and dominated the nights extra distance event, by setting fast time and leading 74 of the 75 laps. Following him across the strip were Roland, Bruce Bennett, Bobby Blake, and Eddie Hartin rounding out the top five.

In the companion Racecar Engineering Sportsman 50 lap event, Michael Smith in a brand new wedge bodied “Hot Rod” also dominated with setting quick time, by luck of the draw started outside front row and drove away for the win. Smith was followed by FUPS points leader Charlie Brown, Jason Rendell, Sammy Cressman, and Jessica Green to complete the top five.

Eagle Jet Top Gun Sprints Return to Volusia Speedway Park this Saturday

Eagle Jet Top Gun Sprints after being rained out on March 29th, will try once again to race at Volusia Speedway Park, Saturday, April 19th. This will be the first of five races scheduled at the high speed ½ mile clay oval.

Shane Kreidler is leading the points after three events by six points over Gene Lasker, with Mark Ruel Jr. trailing by ten points in third place. Ken Laureno is fourth, Brandon Grubaugh in fifth, Danny Martin Jr. is in sixth place, followed by Kyle Pitts, Tony Agin, Rich Alexander Geoff Styner, A J Maddox, Sport Allen, Matt Kurtz, Tanner Witherspoon, David Slawiak, Johnny Alexander, Sean Clark, Darren Orth and Rex Howe. Other drivers expected to be making their first appearance this season with the series are Shawn Murray, Stephen Darvalics, Jimmy Ballew and Brett O’Donnell.

Joining the Eagle Jet Top Gun sprints will be VSP Mini Sprints, Hobby Stocks, Gladiators and V-8 Thunderstocks for an action dilled night of high speed racing.

The pits will open at 4:00 PM; Grandstands will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 7:30 PM.

FL United Promoters Series Sportsman and OWM’s Back in Action at the ‘Dale

This Saturday the FL United Promoters Series Sportsman and OWM will return to Auburndale Speedway for the third race of the 2014 schedule. The Open Wheel Mod’s will highlight the night’s action with the running of the Performance Plus Carts 75 presented by Stanfield Mobil Home Movers paying $3,000.00 to win. Expected to compete in the OWM division are 2013 FUPS OWM Champion Travis Roland, along with Roger Blevins, LJ Grimm, Wayne Jefferson, Josh Todd, Earl Beckner, Billy Bechtelhimer, and many more.

Also on the card for the night is the FUPS Racecar Engineering Sportsman 50. Points leader Charlie Brown and last month’s winner Jason Rendell will try for their second victory of the season, expected to join the field are last year’s champion, Brandon Morris fresh off a victory at New Smyrna Speedway, Bobby Mobley, George Gorham Jr., Matt McCrary, Shelton Bowers, Shawn Harper, Joe Dowdy and many more. V-8 Bombers, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, Scramblers, Mini Cup, Legends, & Bando’s will fill the night’s schedule. Paducah International Raceway Set for Final Leg of Three-Race Weekend in May for LOLMDS

WAYCROSS, GA (April 14, 2014) – The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and Paducah International Raceway are gearing up for a huge weekend of racing the first weekend of May. The stars and cars of the LOLMDS will visit the Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, KY on Saturday, May 3rd, as the final leg of a big three-race weekend in May for the “Spring Showdown”. The event is scheduled as a 50-lap feature event paying $10,000 to win and $800 to start. The single-day event will include Miller Welders Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and the 50-lap feature event. Support classes running in conjunction with the LOLMDS at Paducah include Crate Late Models and the Modified divisions.

Paducah International Raceway is owned by Bob Sargent and several NASCAR Stars, including Tony Stewart, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kenny Schrader. Sargent recently signed an agreement to lease the track to a new operating group and will continue to run a weekly racing program in 2014. PIR is considered the premier dirt track speedway in Western Kentucky for its fast three-eighths mile track, extensive grandstands and luxury suites. Bob Sargent and the new management group are thrilled to have the LOLMDS visit PIR as part of the three-race weekend. (more…)
