Bub McCool Gets First Career Southern All Star Win At Magnolia Governors Cup

COLUMBUS, MS-The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series sanctioned the 12th Annual Governors Cup at Johnny Stokes Magnolia Speedway and Vicksburg, MS., driver Bub McCool worked his way from his third starting spot to get his first Southern All Star win and a $10,000 payday.

Randy Weaver and Riley Hickman were top qualifiers in White Performance/Schaeffer Oil By Ed Lowe group qualifying on Friday night. In Hoosier Tire qualifying heats it was Weaver who took the win over Billy Moyer Jr., Neil Baggett and Henry Cooper. Heat number two was won by McCool over Chad Thrash, Wendell Wallace and Brian Rickman. Heat number three was won by Hickman over Scott Dedwylder, Stacy Taylor and Rick Rickman. Fourth heat race was won by Hunter Rasdon over Clay Fisher, Dylan Ames and Eric Cooley. Those 16 drivers were locked into the 60 lap main event.

Saturday night in PPM Racing Products B Main action Jamie Tollison took the first one over Justin McCree and Grant Pearl, with Chase Washington taking B Main two over Dane Dacus and Johnny Stokes. Provisional’s went to Dillon Tidmore & David Seibers. (more…)

NIPPER FINDS THE CHEVY SUPER SERIES TO HIS LIKING AFTER PENTON WIN

nipperVLpen071715 PENTON, AL – Jordy Nipper of Gray, GA made his maiden voyage with the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series a successful one by driving the Scotty’s Muffler Rocket to victory on Friday night at Penton Raceway. Nipper took the lead from his outside front row starting spot at the start of the race and never looked back, leading all 40 laps.

Nipper found the Chevy Super Series to his liking both from a performance and an economical standpoint. Nipper has found that with the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series, it is possible for a driver to spend less and earn more.

“I really like the engines in this series with the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series and our Chevrolet Performance CT 525 Engine gave us good power,” Nipper said. “I’ve been running Limited Late Models for the past few seasons, and we’ve wanted to try this series for a long time. This series is a lot easier on the wallet and we’ll be running the Chevy Super Series a lot more.”

Tyler Crowder of Lamont, FL finished second in the Crowder Excavating Special after earning the pole position for the race by setting fast time among the 34 entrants with a lap in 14.294 seconds. Chad Wallace of LaGrange, GA was third in the Wallace Racing GRT, and Chase Edge of LaFayette, AL took the fourth spot in the Edge’s Gas Company Special.

Adam Martin of Talladega, AL drove the Seals Insurance Special to a fifth-place finish and was the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Race. Ricky Culpepper of Hamilton, GA was sixth in the H&M Auto Care Rocket and defending Chevy Super Series National Champion Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN finished seventh.

Jake Knowles of Rome, GA took the eighth spot in the Coosa Heating and Air Rocket and Mario Gresham of Rome, GA finished ninth in the Gresham Race Parts Special. Matt Dooley of Brooks, GA rounded out the Top 10 in the Scott’s Auto Machine Special. (more…)

Eddie Van Meter Conquers Anderson High-Banks With JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Victory In Anderson 100

43rd running of the Stoops Freightliner Redbud 300 weekend kicks off in Central Indiana

DSC_4744-copy-800x415 Anderson, Indiana (Friday, July 17, 2015): The fifth anniversary 2015 season for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance continued on Friday, July 17th as the series kicked off the prestigious 43rd Running of the Stoops Freightliner Redbud 300 weekend at Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana. The Anderson 100 Presented by JEGS.com would highlight the first night of the two-day weekend at fast 1/4 (0.250) mile high-banked paved oval. Their companions within the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Series Powered by JEGS were also on hand and kicked off the race weekend earlier in the evening with a 75-lap main before the JEGS/CRA cars hit the track.

The JEGS/CRA contingent has visited the Central Indiana speed plant every year of their existence and has provided some exciting racing action. This year’s 100-lap main was no exception. When the checkered flag flew over the field, ARCA/CRA Super Series veteran, Eddie Van Meter, who ironically was making his first career JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour start, took the lead for a second time on lap 45 and the Indianapolis, Indiana veteran would fended off points leader, Dalton Armstrong to win his second Late Model race of the year at Anderson to go with his ARCA/CRA win on April 26th. Shane Stewart Crowned at Wild 32nd Annual Kings Royal

Sweeps the Kings Royal weekend at Eldora Speedway

071915_Eldora_VL ROSSBURG, Ohio – July 18, 2015 – Neither rain nor Donny Schatz could keep Shane Stewart down on Saturday night as the Larson Marks Racing driver scored the biggest win of his career and was crowned ‘King Shane’ in a Kings Royal no one will soon forget.

“This is an awesome, awesome weekend,” Stewart said in victory lane. “I don’t even know what to say, it’s an unbelievable feeling.”

Mother Nature wreaked havoc early on as the skies opened up on Eldora Speedway just after the first Heat race of the night got underway. The rain persisted off and on for the next two hours and with track work, pushed the rain delay past four hours. By the time the track was back in racing condition, it was just past 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

Nearly three hours later and in front of packed house at Eldora, the green flag fell on the 40-lap Kings Royal feature with Tim Shaffer and Donny Schatz on the front row. Schatz dominated through the opening laps as Stewart charged through the field from a 14th place starting position. (more…)

Three-Time Defending Series Champion Overtakes Briggs Late at Deer Creek Speedway to Earn First WoO LMS Victory of 2015

By Joshua Joiner, WoO LMS PR – Returning to the World of Outlaws Late Model Series after a one-race hiatus, Lanigan, the three-time and defending series champion from Union, Ky., led the final 13 laps of Saturday’s NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50 at Deer Creek Speedway to score his first WoO LMS victory of the season.

Driving a second Wayman McMillan-owned Black Diamond by Club 29 Race Car as a teammate to Morgan Bagley, the second-starting Lanigan overtook polesitter Boom Briggs of Bear Lake, Pa., on lap 38 and led the remaining distance to earn $11,900 for the 71st WoO LMS victory of his career and his third consecutive Gopher 50 triumph.

“This is definitely special to come back up here in Morgan’s car and get the win,” said Lanigan, who after struggling through the first half of the WoO LMS season pulled his own race team off the national tour following July 9’s event at Hibbing (Minn.) Raceway to refocus the team and his Club 29 Race Cars business. “It just shows what kind of equipment we’ve got. We’ve did a lot of testing this year for everybody else and it’s kind of got us behind a little bit. We’re gonna go back and build us a new car like Bagley’s here and go from there.” (more…)

Spectacular Silver Dollar Nationals Finish; Bloomquist Wins

Bloomquist Silver Dollar Winner GREENWOOD, NE (July 18, 2015) – Scott Bloomquist held off a late race charge from Jimmy Owens to win the 5th Annual Silver Dollar Nationals at I-80 Speedway on Saturday Night. It was Bloomquist’s second straight Silver Dollar Nationals victory. He earned $32,000 for his efforts in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and Lucas Oil MLRA sanctioned event.

Bloomquist sailed by Jonathan Davenport for the lead on lap 31. Davenport later dropped out of the race with mechanical issues. Owens was gaining rapidly on Bloomquist in the closing laps and came within inches of getting by Bloomquist coming out of turn 4 for the final time, but Bloomquist managed to cross the finish line just ahead of him. Jesse Stovall charged from 19th to finish third, followed by Gregg Satterlee, and Jared Landers.

“We had a good car all night, we were able to pass the 6 car [Davenport] and not a lot of people have done that recently. We were a little worried about the track early on. They went out and worked on it before the feature and we could run anywhere on it. I was able to move my car around pretty easily. Traffic was not too bad of a problem. I want to thank the crowd for coming out tonight and the Kosiski family, they do a heck of a good job promoting this place.” (more…)

Shane Stewart Gets His Knight’s Tale at Eldora Speedway

Dominates the Knight Before the Kings Royal to Score Fifth World of Outlaws Victory of the Season

071715_Eldora_VL ROSSBURG, Ohio – July 17, 2015 – In spite a qualifying draw that sent him out last, there was little doubt Shane Stewart was the driver to beat at Friday night’s Knight Before the Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway.

After qualifying third, Stewart won the Dash and started on the feature pole. Through two attempts to get the race started, Stewart built healthy leads on his nearest competitor. Sammy Swindell worked to catch the Larson Marks Racing driver as they fought their way through traffic but was never able to get much closer than a couple of car lengths.

In his mirror, a familiar foe emerged for Stewart – Donny Schatz. The two drivers, who have found themselves often battling in the first and second positions as the season has worn on, were poised to do it again Friday night.

On a restart on lap eight, Schatz threw a Hail Mary and drove his No. 15 Bad Boy Buggies car high against the wall in turns one and two. The daring move gave him two positions and moved him into the fourth spot. He battled past Daryn Pittman, then in third on lap 17 and then set his sights on Swindell who he caught and passed six laps later. (more…)

Iowan Mitchell Wins ARCA 150 at Iowa Speedway Home Track

Mitchell Iowa (NEWTON, Iowa – July 17, 2015) – Mason Mitchell brought out Superman again. And, that meant he was headed to victory lane.

Mitchell, who grew up in West Des Moines, Iowa, won the #ThisIsMySpeedway150 at Iowa Speedway Friday night, winning at the .875-mile facility that he considers his home track.

“This is unbelievable,” an emotional Mitchell said after the race. “This was the whole reason we came to this race. These guys worked too hard to come home second. I didn’t care how much damage this car had, I wanted that checkered flag.”

Two late race cautions caused the race to extend beyond its advertised 150 laps. Mitchell, in the No. 78 Karl Chevrolet, passed Kyle Weatherman on the final lap, which was lap 159, for the win. Weatherman finished second in the No. 22 Crosley Brands/Cunningham Motorsports Dodge, his second runner-up finish at Iowa Speedway in three years. His Cunningham Motorsports teammate Tom Hessert, driving the No. 77 Barbera’s Autoland Dodge, was third. Austin Cindric, in the No. 99 AutoZone Ford, was fourth. Matt Tifft completed the top five in the Federated Auto Parts No. 52 Chevrolet.

Austin Wayne Self finished sixth in a car owned by Mason Mitchell, Blake Jones finished seventh in the No. 38 Asphalt Services of Tenn./Blake Jones Racing Ford while ARCA Racing Series point leader Grant Enfinger finished eighth. Also earning top 10 finishes were Todd Gilliland in the Renton Coil Springs No. 55 Toyota and David Levine in the MOMO-TraqGear-Ford Performance Ford. (more…)

Davenport Shines in Lucas Oil Show-Me 100

Jonathan Davenport Show-Me 100 WHEATLAND, MO (July 12, 2015) – Proving why he is the number one-ranked dirt late model driver in the nation, Jonathan Davenport captured the 23rd Annual Lucas Oil Show-Me 100 presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com on Sunday night. Davenport took the lead at the start of the event led all 100 laps to score the $30,000 victory. The event was sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and Lucas Oil MLRA Series at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO.

Davenport’s ninth LOLMDS victory of the season extended his championship points lead to 240 points. Scott Bloomquist fought from 16th to finish second. Chris Simpson was the OPTIMA Batteries Hard Charger of the Race after storming from 31st to finish third. Jimmy Owens came from 25th to finish fourth, with Jesse Stovall capturing fifth at the finish.

Davenport only lost the lead for a brief time when Stovall pulled a slide job on him in turn one late in the race, but Davenport forged ahead to retake the lead shortly after. He went unchallenged the remainder of the race.

“The wait to run this race was worth it. Our car has been so good this year. I would like to thank Kevin and LeRoy Rumley. LeRoy builds our engines, and when Kevin went to Longhorn Chassis to work with the Labonte Brothers a few years ago, it has completely turned that program around.” (more…)

Saldana Holds Off Schatz on Green-White-Checkered Finish to Win Cedar Lake Outlaw Sprint Car Showdown

Victory is First in Team’s 22-Year History at Cedar Lake Speedway

071215_SP_CedarLakeVL NEW RICHMOND, Wis. – July 12, 2015 – Amidst the jubilant victory celebration on Sunday night at Cedar Lake Speedway, the team owner found his driver, embraced him and said thank you. In an impressive 35-lap charge to the checkers, Joey Saldana erased 22 years of frustration for Minnesotan Dan Motter by putting his #71M machine into victory lane at the Wisconsin dirt oval for the first time in World of Outlaws Sprint Car competition.

Winning was far from easy. On a night when red-hot Donny Schatz, already a 20-race winner this season, earned the pole for the feature, Saldana started fourth, quickly grabbed third, then boldly charged past Schatz and into the lead on lap six with a deep run in turns one and two.

Schatz kept the pressure building in traffic until Rico Abreu slid Schatz and came after Saldana. A mechanical issue with two to go forced Abreu out of the affair and put Schatz on Saldana’s tail for a green-white-checkered finish. (more…)
