The UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions the university in Lima, Ohio recently announced their partnership with Americas Series will compete in 50-52 events in 2012.

HINES, DARLAND RESUME “ACTIVE” VICTORY LEAD BATTLE

Tracy Hines and Dave Darland will resume their battle for the all-time USAC National feature victory lead among “active” drivers when the 2012 USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Series opens February 9-11 at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Fla.

“Bubba’s Winter Dirt Games” will feature three complete nights of sprint car action on the exciting 3/8-mile dirt oval. The races are the first of nearly 50 on the 2012 USAC AMSOIL calendar.

Hines sits atop the “active” lead with 77 total wins (41 in Sprints, 28 in Midgets and eight in Silver Crown). Darland is just one back with 76 (34 in Sprints, 28 in Midgets and 14 in Silver Crown). Hines ranks seventh on the all-time USAC list, while Darland is tied with Jack Hewitt for eighth. (more…)

Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Announces Record 3.2 Million Dollars Up for Grabs in 2012

WAYCROSS, GA (January 30, 2012) – Officials of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series are pleased to announce that the series will offer drivers over 3.2 million dollars in cash and contingencies in 2012. The amount is a new record for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Since its inception in 2005, the series maintains its place as the premier national touring dirt late model series in the country.  In 2011, the series averaged an industry high of 49 cars per event. Record-breaking crowds watched many of the most exciting races of the year. The 2012 series schedule includes 46 events in 19 different states at some of the top racing facilities in the country.
 
Drivers that compete on the series in 2012 will be racing for more than 2.5 million in purse monies alone. The series also added a purse increase to all the $10,000 and $20,000 to win shows in 2012. (more…)

Top Gun Awards Banquet

Top Gun Sprint Series crowned their 2011 champions at an awards banquet held at the Ocala Municipal Golf Course in conjunction with Bubba Raceway Park’s awards banquet. 

In its third season, the series honored the top ten drivers with unique Eagle trophies, cash awards and contingency product awards.  

Points champion Danny Martin, Jr. was followed by Mark Ruel Jr., Tim George, Jimmy Ballew, Matt Kurtz, with Robbie Smith, A.J. Maddox, Rich Alexander, Ryan Partin and Terry Witherspoon rounding out the top ten.  (more…)

V8 StockCar is now the “Crane Cams V8 StockCar Road Racing Series”

Crane Cams and the V8 StockCar Road Racing Series announced today that they have joined forces. Crane Cams, an iconic and pioneering name in the performance and racing industry, will become the title sponsor for the V8 StockCar Road Racing Series for 2012. The Series will now be known as the Crane Cams V8 StockCar Road Racing Series. Crane Cams, founded in 1953 has become legendary for its’ powerful precision ground cams, innovative valve train components and technically advanced ignition systems

FUP Late Model Series announces director and officials !

Orlando FL 1-18-12 – The Florida United Promoters Late Model Series heads into the 2012 season with a renewed optimism and new staff.

The series has added the services of Rick Williams as a series and race director for the 2012 season. Rick comes to the series as a well known fuel supplier for Florida short tracks, and for past touring series since 1986. Rick traveled with the All-Pro series in the late 80’s then with the Florida Pro Series in the 90’s. Rick is a family man, his wife Brenda of twenty nine years and children Lauren 26 and Ricky 24 are his driving force.  (more…)

United Promoters Late Models Ready for Second Season

Rookie Run Was Impressive, But Goals are Bigger for 2012

Elgin Traylor, 51 Operations Manager – A few years ago, the now-defunct Sunbelt Super Late Model Series was the place for drivers to race at different venues across the state of Florida.  One of their big venues was USA International Speedway in Lakeland, FL and raced at more facilities such as New Smyrna, Orlando, Auburndale, Ocala and more.  In 2008 both USA International Speedway and the series ended and a major touring Super Late Model Series in Florida were no more.

Fast forward to 2011.  A rookie series, the Florida United Promoters Late Model Series, had a strong debut at tracks throughout Central Florida.  (more…)

Mark Martin Testing at New Smyrna this Week

CORNELIUS, N.C. — This week’s tests at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway and Daytona International Speedway mark the first two tests for Mark Martin and his No. 55 Aaron’s Dream Machine race team. Martin begins his 30th NASCAR Sprint Cup season driving the No. 55 Aaron’s Dream Machine in 25 races for Michael Waltrip Racing. Martin believes the work done this week is an important step toward running well at Daytona and the rest of the 2012 season.

MARTIN ON THIS WEEK’S TESTS: “These tests aren’t incredibly important from the car hardware side. It’s more important for us as a new group working together to work through the areas like communication, flow, learning everyone’s names, routines and things like that. Reutimann returns to Truck Series with RBR

The ’04 ROY will run up to 15 races that are companion events with Cup schedule

David Reutimann, the 2004 Truck Series rookie of the year, plans to return to the series in 2012, agreeing this week to run up to 15 races in the No. 92 Chevrolet for Ricky Benton Racing, mainly companion events associated with his part-time Cup schedule with Tommy Baldwin Racing.

Team spokesman Rick Benton said Saturday that talks began in earnest after the team hired crew chief Jason Overstreet in early December.

Along with the Truck schedule, David Reutimann will run part-time for Tommy Baldwin Racing in the Cup Series.

“We heard about [Reutimann’s] situation after being released from Michael Waltrip Racing,” Benton said. “Our crew chief, Jason Overstreet, had worked with David several times back early on. So they’ve got a relationship there, so we just kind of thought it might be a good possibility to put that deal together. (more…)

Johanna Long Moves to ML Motorsports to Pilot the No 70 Chevrolet in 2012 and 2013

ML Racing announced today that Johanna Long will drive the No. 70 Biomet – Foretravel Motorcoach Chevrolet Impala for the 2012 and 2013 NASCAR Nationwide Series.

Long, a Pensacola, Fl native is the winner of the 2010 Snowball Derby. She began her NASCAR career in 2011, driving a limited schedule in the Camping World Truck Series for Panhandle Motorsports.  Long qualified in the 5th place position in her first start at Daytona. Her career best finish to date was 11th place at Texas Motor Speedway.

Long will join a team that is owned by Mary Louise Miller, one of the few female owners in NASCAR. Miller is known as a big supporter of women in racing. At nineteen, Long becomes the youngest female driver to compete in the Nationwide Series, and she will be competing for Rookie of the Year in 2012. (more…)
