Quarter-Mile Oval Annually Produces Some Of The National Tour’s Most Heart-Stopping Racing

Quarter-Mile Oval Annually Produces Some Of The National Tour’s Most Heart-Stopping Racing

GRAND FORKS, ND – July 12, 2012 – Tim McCreadie pretty much summed up the essence of River Cities Speedway after winning the high-banked, quarter-mile oval’s World of Outlaws Late Model Series event last year.

“This place is a bad-ass, racy little joint,” McCreadie raved while standing – drenched in sweat and breathing heavily – in Victory Lane. “It’s a long ways away from home, but it’s fun to come here. If you sleep for a lap or take it easy for a lap, the next thing you know you’re getting passed.”

Indeed, there’s no track on the WoO LMS schedule that has consistently produced wilder, more exciting racing in recent years than River Cities, a whipsaw of a speedway that will host the renowned national full-fender tour for the seventh consecutive season this Friday night (July 13). The evening’s featured attraction, the Seven Clans Casinos 50, boasts a $10,000 top prize and is part of the World of Outlaws circuit’s ‘Wild West Tour’ that visits tracks in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Manitoba.

McCreadie, 38, of Watertown, N.Y., became the latest winner of a WoO LMS thriller at River Cities last year with a drive that left his body physically drained, his Sweeteners Plus wheezing and the track’s fans buzzing. Pounding the blazing-fast track’s cushion for the second half of the race, he passed Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, Wis., for the lead on lap 31 and spent the remainder of the distance battling to stay out front in an event that saw four drivers in contention for the win on the final lap. Madsen Slides to Brad Doty Classic Victory at Limaland Motorsports Park

The Australian Wins his Third Feature in the Last 11 World of Outlaws Events

LIMA, Ohio – July 11, 2012 – Initially, Kerry Madsen was just hoping to survive Wednesday night.

In the end, the Australian stood atop the podium at Limaland Motorsports Park after claiming the 40-lap feature, which was filled with slide jobs and close calls at the Ohio Logistics 24th annual Brad Doty Classic Presented by Racing Optics.

It is Madsen’s third World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series feature victory in the last 11 events and he became the seventh different driver to win in the last seven Outlaws races at the tight, quarter-mile track.

“It was pretty intense in the seat,” he said. “Ironically, I thought if we could get out of here with a top 10 I’d be excited. To get a victory is awesome.”

Stevie Smith, who started on the pole by virtue of a dominating dash victory, rocketed to the early feature lead with Sam Hafertepe Jr. in tow. Madsen, who started on the outside of Smith, passed Hafertepe Jr. for the runner-up position around lap five and began to chase down Smith once the duo entered traffic. (more…)

PASS South Returns to One of the Nicest Facilities in the Mid-Atlantic as Series Invades Motor Mile Speedway

Charlotte, NC 7/9/12– Once again the PASS South Series heads North to the state of Virginia for this weekend’s Motor Mile 150 at the Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Virginia. The 4/10th mile facility has played host to just two PASS South Series events prior to this weekend race. Both drivers that have landed in victory lane at Motor Mile are not expected to be in attendance leaving the door wide open for each and every driver this weekend at the Virginia track.

The combination of the 15 degree banking in the turns and relatively fresh asphalt make for one fast track unlike any other that the series races at all season long. Drivers will battle for positioning throughout the race along the bottom groove making for some great racing much like it did a season ago. Last season Ben Rowe and Jay Fogleman battled lap after lap side-by-side over the final twenty-five laps for one of the best races of the season. Jay Fogleman once again see’s that Motor Mile could put on just as good show this season. (more…)

Eckert Hopes To Leave Rough Stretch Behind With Return To Black Hills Speedway On Tuesday Night

World of Outlaws Late Model Series Set For First Modern-Era Visit To South Dakota Facility

RAPID CITY, SD – July 9, 2012 – Rick Eckert has fond memories of his last visit to Black Hills Speedway nearly a decade ago. He’s hoping his return to the facility on Tuesday night (July 10) for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series ‘Black Hills 50’ will produce more fun times.

Because make no mistake – Eckert, 46, of York, Pa., could use a major pick-me-up in the wake of arguably the most nightmarish two-week stretch of his distinguished racing career.

“We need a lot of positive stuff to happen,” bottom-lined the defending WoO LMS champion, who won the last national touring-series event held at Black Hills Speedway (Hav-A-Tampa/UDTRA series on May 16, 2003). “We need to make some money to help pay for the stuff we’ve torn up and what we’ve broke the last couple weeks.”

Indeed, Eckert went through a meat grinder during the June 22-30 WoO LMS swing through Canada, New York and Pennsylvania that preceded the ‘Wild West Tour,’ which began on Saturday night at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., and continues with the circuit’s first modern-era (2004-present) stop at Black Hills on Tuesday evening. He not only experienced major mechanical trouble with the Freightliner hauler he uses to transport his racing equipment, but also broke three engines in a two-race span. (more…)

The following night’s race at Autodrome Drummond again led to victory for Yetman. Adam finished second, Chip Smith third, Ladouceur fourth, and Ryan Stabler fifth.
