Super DIRTcar Series in Granby Postponed

Race Rescheduled for Saturday, September 8

GRANBY, QUÉBEC – July 23, 2012 – A hot and humid day greeted race fans and drivers for the fifth race of the Super DIRTcar Big Block Series presented at beautiful Autodrome Granby. The pits were full and 40 Big Block Modifieds had time to test the track and were ready to take their time trials sessions when inclement weather moved into Granby forcing promoters Dominic Lussier and Jean-François Tessier to cancel tonight’s show.

The Super DIRTcar Big Block Series will return to Granby on Saturday, September 8, as the DIRTcar Pro-Stock Series will also be on the racing card. The schedule for that day is forthcoming.

The tour remains in Quebec for one more night as they will travel to Autodrome Drummond tomorrow night to compete in round 6 with another 100-lap feature on hand.

Shaffer Dominates Fonda Field for Second Straight UNOH All Star Win

FONDA, N.Y. (July 19, 2012) By Brian Liskai– In racing, a lot of drivers say you need some LUCK. But, many also know the definition of LUCK is when preparation meets desire. The later describes the Aaron Call/Janet Holbrook Motorsports sprint car and driver Tim Shaffer.

“The Steel City Outlaw” claimed his second consecutive University of Northwestern Ohio All Star Circuit of Champions feature Thursday in front of a capacity crowd at Fonda Speedway. It was Shaffer’s fourth series’ victory of 2012. Shaffer led all 30 laps for his second straight victory at Fonda, having taken the win at “The Track of Champions” in 2011.

“Definitely, you have to be lucky, it all comes into play,” Shaffer said beside his Kistler Engines, J&J Auto Racing, VRP Shocks backed #83. “You have to have luck but you have to have a great car here. If you don’t have a great car here, I don’t care where you start; you end up in the back in a hurry. It is a tough track. When it gets slick you have to be patient but aggressive. It worked out for us again tonight.” (more…)

The Pennsylvania native picks up his first World of Outlaws feature win of the season

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – July 21, 2012 – Vindication. Atonement. Redemption.

Cody Darrah doesn’t mind what his performance on Saturday is called because he ended the night covered in confetti in Victory Lane. Sandwiched between those signature wins at a home track located a little more than a half hour from where he grew up, Darrah’s life has been a roller coaster.

“It’s awesome to be back home and it’s even better to be on the frontstretch,” Darrah said. “I got my first World of Outlaws win at this race in 2009 back in my dad’s car. It’s been a long road since then. We’ve had struggles.” (more…)

Outlaws Ready for Action at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55

Seven of the Top Eight World of Outlaws Have won at the High-Banked Track

PEVELY, Mo. – July 20, 2012 – It’s quickly become a signature event on the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series because of the fast-paced, action-packed racing at the high-banked, third-mile Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55.

“It’s always a big action track,” said Sammy Swindell, who has won at the track three times. “There’s usually a lot of cars running close together. It’s small enough that you never really get away from people, so it’s a tough race. If you’re not racing with somebody, you’re in traffic with somebody. You’ve got to be on your toes the whole time there.” (more…)
