SPENCER, Iowa – Sept. 11, 2012 – Donny Schatz capitalized on a strong West Coast swing to not only regain the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship lead, but to hold the largest margin of the season as the series returns to the Midwest this weekend.

On the strength of seven straight top-five finishes, Schatz is riding a 72-point advantage over Craig Dollansky, who is promoting Friday’s 6th annual Arnold Motor Supply Shootout at Clay County Fairgrounds. NASCAR driver Brad Sweet claimed his first career World of Outlaws victory at the 3/8-mile oval in June.

On Saturday, the Outlaws will compete in the FVP Outlaw Showdown at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn. Steve Kinser won last year’s event at the 3/8-mile oval after Joey Saldana landed in Victory Lane the previous two seasons. (more…)

Southern All Stars roll to Cleveland for Grant Adcox/Coca-Cola Stars and Stripes 40 on 9/15

HUNTSVILLE, AL (September 8, 2012)—The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series will head back to the Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, TN for the Grant Adcox Memorial / Coca-Cola Stars and Stripes 40 on Saturday Night September 15th.

The event, which was scheduled to be run on July 14th will feature the SAS Late Models for the fourth time this season at Cleveland competing for $3,500 to win. In previous visits to the Cleveland Speedway this season there have been three different winners with wins going to Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN during the Shamrock in April, Skip Arp of Georgetown, TN claimed the TN memorial race in May then Billy Ogle Jr. claimed the Budweiser Jean Johnson Memorial event in August.

Two-time series champion Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN in the Outlaws Race Products GRT special leads the series points heading into Cleveland over Mike Weeks of Friendsville, TN then Shan Smith of Dade City, FL is third in series points, William Thomas of Phenix City, AL is fourth and defending series champion Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, TN is fifth. Strong Group of Entries for ARCA/CRA Super Series JEGS 100 at Gresham Motorsports Park Saturday

Salem, IN (September 11, 2012) – The ARCA/CRA Super Series will head south for the JEGS 100, one of its Southern Tour events, this Saturday at Gresham Motorsports Park, located in Jefferson, Georgia. Gresham Motorsports Park, formally known as Peach State Speedway, went through a multi-million dollar renovation three years ago that made that facility the premier short track in the country and is the home for the World Crown, one of the top template Super Late Model events in the country.

Saturday’s event has attracted a stellar field of late model competitors led by top late model racer and Georgia native Bubba Pollard. Pollard got the win in last year’s CRA event at Gresham, taking the lead after passing early leader and fellow Georgia native T.J. Reaid on lap 58. Pollard would hold off a hard charging Augie Grill first and then Reaid in several late restarts to get the victory, one of 19 in a late model last year. (more…)

Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Set for USA 100 at Virginia Motor Speedway this Weekend

WAYCROSS, GA (September 10, 2012) – The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series returns to action this Friday and Saturday, September 14th and 15th at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, VA. The 33rd Annual USA 100 is on tap with a top prize of $20,000, an increase of $5,000 from last year’s event.

Activity will get underway on Friday night with Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Red Buck Cigars Time Trials followed by two-25 lap qualifying races. On Saturday night, there will be a pair of B-Mains and the 50-lap, $20,000-to-win USA 100 feature event. Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN is the defending race winner.

Virginia Motor Speedway will offer fans a great show at very affordable ticket prices at one of the nicest facilities in the country this weekend. Adult two-day tickets are $35.00 while seniors (60+) are $28.00; military (active and retired) are $25; students 7-17 are $15.00 and children Under 6 are FREE. Two-day Pit passes will be $50.00. The competitor gates open at 3:00 p.m. while the spectator gates swing open at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and 4pm on Saturday. Hot laps are set to start at 6:30 each night. (more…)

Kaeding Claims Antioch Thriller With Last-Lap Slider on Schatz

Schatz’s seventh straight top five pushes his Outlaws championship lead to 72 points

ANTIOCH, Calif. – Sept. 10, 2012 – Looking for some good entertainment? Just watch Tim Kaeding.

In perhaps the pass of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series season, Kaeding slid championship points leader Donny Schatz in turn four on the final lap to earn his fourth Outlaws win of the season on Monday at Antioch Speedway. The packed grandstands erupted for the San Jose native, who reciprocated the affection.

He egged them on by popping a wheelie down the frontstretch after taking the checkered flag. And if his last-lap pass and wheelie weren’t enough, Kaeding was as entertaining in his postrace interview. (more…)

Pat McGrail Charges to DIRTcar 358-Modified Asphalt Series Win and Championship Title

Sunday’s Triple 50s at Airborne Park Speedway Spell Victory for McGrail

PLATTSBURGH, N. Y. – September 10, 2012 – Pat McGrail steered his DIRTcar 358-Modified to victory in the final 50-lap segment at Airborne Park Speedway Sunday, winning the day’s Triple 50s and taking home the DIRTcar 358-Modified Asphalt Series Championship.

In the first of three 50-lap segments that made up the DIRTcar 358-Modified Asphalt Series finale, McGrail drew the tenth starting spot.  Series opener winner Todd Stone took the initial lead an survived a caution-ridden first half of the race, but McGrail caught up and was second by lap 25. Stone went on to win the first segment, but McGrail’s strong second-place finish kept him in the running for the feature win. (more…)

UARA-STARS Head Back for Round 2 at Kingsport Speedway

Hendersonville, NC (9/10/12) –With only five races left, UARA-STARS championship contenders will take full advantage of the 170th event at Kingsport Speedway, September 14th.

Travis Swaim and Dillon Bassett are neck-in-neck in the current points standings with Sean Rayhall, Scott Turlington and Jake Morris, Devin Jones, Roger Powell, Brandon Jones, Tyler Laing, and Ben Rhodes following to compose the top ten.   Swaim is looking to gain his first UARA victory at Kingsport.  Swaim has four Sunoco Pole awards to his credit and a consistent run in the top five for all but two events this season.

That elusive first win is something he is determined to attain, the sooner the better for Swaim.

Young Dillon Bassett is leading the Rookie standings but not without pressure from ten other rookie competitors. (more…)

Triple Crown to Include $30,000 Bonus Point Fund

NAPLES, ME (September 10) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry and Autodrome Chaudiere owners Dany Lagace and Kevin Roberge announced today that PASS will sanction the Autobus La Quebecois Triple Crown at the speedway located in Valley Junction, Quebec in 2013.  The Autobus La Quebecois Triple Crown will pit the best Super Late Model drivers from across North America in a series of three events with a purse totaling $123,000.  And, as an added bonus, drivers who compete in all three Triple Crown events will vie for their share of a bonus points fund totaling $30,000.  PASS and Autodrome Chaudiere’s combined effort will be one of the most lucrative endeavors in asphalt short track racing and looks to benefit both racers and fans alike. Schatz Sails to Ninth World of Outlaws Win at Scenic Calistoga

The four-time champion now leads the points race by a season-high 50 points

CALISTOGA, Calif. – Sept. 9, 2012 – It shouldn’t be a surprise that Donny Schatz parked in Victory Lane on Sunday at Calistoga Speedway.

Schatz continued his recent tear in dominating fashion, leading all 25 laps to record his ninth World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series win of the season and his second at the scenic half mile.

The victory was the latest highlight in a hot streak that dates back to late July. Schatz has recorded six wins and 15 top fives in the last 17 points races, including a current streak of six consecutive top-five finishes.

The success has also built a 50-point advantage in the championship standings, which is the largest difference between first place and second all season.

“We’re on attack mode,” Schatz said. “These guys definitely got their game face on. They’ve got an awesome machine behind me and we’ve got our motors running really good, so we’re happy.” (more…)

Esh Defends Posse Turf Against UNOH All Stars, Wins Tuscarora 50 at the Port

PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012) By Brian Liskai   Doug  The Hammer  Esh defended the PA Posse s home turf against the invading University of Northwestern Ohio All Star Circuit of Champions Saturday at Port Royal Speedway to claim the 45th Annual AB Auto Glass Tuscarora 50.

Esh, from Lancaster, Pa., had to hold off a charging UNOH All Star driver  Dangerous  David Gravel to earn his first career UNOH All Star victory.

Esh s first win of the season was worth $11,450 for Esh.

But it was Owasso, Ok. native Daryn Pittman who took home the big money.

With his sixth place finish, Pittman claimed the UNOH All Star s $20,000 check for winning the series  Eastern Region Championship.

Also, with his 10th place finish, Chad Layton was crowned the Port Royal Speedway 2012 champion.

Esh blasted around the Port s top shelf aboard his Leach s Automotive/Macri Concrete #30, and for a stretch of 11 laps he had the field right where he wanted them as the competition was bogged down in the lower and middle grooves. (more…)
