Dollansky Rids Monkey at FVP Clash at the Creek

Schatz records fifth straight top-two finish to maintain World of Outlaws points lead

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. – Sept. 15, 2012 – Don’t tell PETA, but Craig Dollansky just knocked the monkey off his back.

Actually, he body slammed the figurative nuisance, which has riddled the snake bitten team during the past two weeks. On a brisk Saturday evening in his home state, Dollansky led all but one lap to claim the FVP Clash at the Creek at Deer Creek Speedway to earn his first podium finish in the last nine events.

It was Dollansky’s eighth World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series win of the season and it helped close the deficit on championship points leader Donny Schatz to 96 points with 10 races remaining.

“To win here tonight in front of one of my hometown crowds, just people that we don’t get to race in front of normally – family, friends and just a lot of great fans in Minnesota – it’s pretty awesome after the heartbreaker last night,” Dollansky said. (more…)

Lathroum Lands Biggest Payday of Career in USA 100 at Virginia Motor Speedway

JAMAICA, VA (September 15, 2012) – Jamie Lathroum of Mechanicsville, MD a former track champion at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway captured the biggest victory of his racing career on Saturday Night. He took home the $20,000 first place in the 33rd Annual USA 100. Lathroum took over the lead on lap 18 and held off Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN for the win in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned event.

Steve Francis of Ashland, KY led the first 15 laps of the race until Lathroum forged under him coming off of turn four. Francis then jumped the cushion and was forced to stop on the track before contact with the inside guardrail. On the restart, Lathroum picked up the lead, but a big wreck in turn four involving four cars changed the complexion of the top five.

Lathroum maintained the top spot with Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL and John Blankenship of Williamson, WV running in third. Lathroum built his lead over Pearson and Blankenship as the drivers approached the halfway mark of the race. (more…)

Tom Hessert Takes Second Career ARCA Win at Salem

Chris Buescher Extends Points Lead and Wins France Four Crown

(SALEM, Ind.) – After taking three races off after the halfway point of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season and effectively removing himself from championship contention, Tom Hessert’s goal was simple: Win.

That’s just what Hessert did in the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA Fall Classic presented by Federated Car Care at Salem Speedway, leading the final 78 laps for his second ARCA victory.

Hessert (No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet) was excited to win not only in a race supported by his primary sponsor, but also at such a historic track. He made clean start after clean start on restarts as the race wound down.

“I’m really into the history of our sport and hearing all about Salem and all of the guys who raced here, I’m glad I got to be one of the guys to go to Victory Lane here,” Hessert said. “The track just kind of worked out for us. We were all on the right tires at the right time. I knew if we could maintain with whoever was behind us for the first 10 laps (of a run), we could eventually inch away and that’s the way it ultimately worked out for us. Federated’s been our sponsor for the year, so it’s really, really cool.” (more…)

Sebetto Gets Late Race Pass of Blaney for Fremont All Star Win

FREMONT, OH (9-15-12) By Brian Liskai  All it took was one very little mistake by Dale Blaney on a restart with four laps to go Friday at Fremont Speedway and Bryan Sebetto was there to pounce. Sebetto executed a perfect slide job in turns three and four to take the lead and went on to score his 22nd career win at  The Track That Action Built.  While the win against the University of Northwestern Ohio All Star Circuit of Champions is the third of his career, it was the first for Sebetto s car owners Randy and Lisa Hammer.

Blaney came into the weekend at Fremont having won all four of the UNOH All Star events at the track in 2012. But, Sebetto gave notice in the dash that he was going to be a force to be reckoned with on the opening night of the Jim Ford Classic weekend presented by All Pro Cylinder Heads. Sebetto hounded Blaney the entire distance of the six lap race and Blaney knew come feature time he would have his hands full with Fremont Speedway’s 2011 champion and the recently crowned Kistler Racing Products Fremont Attica Sprint Title (FAST) champion.
