FL United Promoters Series Season Finale

The Florida United Promoters Series will hold the season finale Regal Kia-Chevy 150 on Sat. December 8th, 2012 at Auburndale Speedway, this event was originally schedule for 200 laps at Desoto Speedway. We have been working very hard to make this our biggest race to cap off a very exciting season, said series director Rick Williams. Although we were planning to finish at Desoto we just couldn’t make it work, and we were able to move it to the “Dale”, added Williams.

With only twenty points separating Steve Dorer and Jesse Dutilly for the championship, this race will determine who will win the 2012 FUPS Championship and claim the $5,000.00 from the points fund. Along with Dutilly and Dorer will be Jonathan Guy on his home track who sits in 3rd place in the points race. Joining the top three will be series regulars, Daniel Webster, Anthony Campi, Anthony Sergi, Kevin Macy, Joe Winchell, David Green, David King, Eddie King, and many others.

Jake Perkins the FUPS 2011 Rookie of the Year who sits 4th in the point standings will join in the hunt for his 1st win with FUPS. Perkins Motorsports will also field a second car for the return of local NASCAR racer David Reutimann. Thanks to some scheduling adjustments we were able to have David come compete with the best drivers in Florida for this event, and are expecting more teams from the north after the “Derby” added series officials.

Lanigan Collects $100,000 World of Outlaws Late Model Series Championship Check For Second Time At Sunday Night’s Awards Banquet

CONCORD, NC – Nov. 4, 2012 – Darrell Lanigan’s dream season on the World of Outlaws Late Model Series officially came to a close on Sunday night.

The 42-year-old star from Union, Ky., was crowned the 2012 champion of the renowned national tour – and collected a $100,000 points-fund check – during Sunday’s annual WoO LMS ‘Night of Champions’ Awards Banquet at the Great Wolf Lodge.

Lanigan rewrote the circuit’s record book en route to becoming the second two-time WoO LMS titlist since 2004. He established new standards for wins in a single season (15), consecutive victories (six) and alltime triumphs (41), leaving the typically reserved driver even more at a loss for words.

“Wow…what a year!” Lanigan told a filled ballroom when he was called to the stage to accept his championship honors. “Unbelievable, just unbelievable. That’s all I can say.”

Lanigan seized the points lead with a victory in the 2012 season opener on Feb. 11 at Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Ga., and never relinquished it, becoming the first driver to remain atop the standings from start-to-finish. His final championship margin of 228 points over 2011 titlist Rick Eckert of York, Pa., was the largest in series history. (more…)

Schatz Crowned at the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Banquet on Sunday

His fifth championship nets a prize of $150,000 as top four earn more than $325,000

CONCORD, N.C. – Nov. 4, 2012 – Donny Schatz was crowned the 2012 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion at the season-ending banquet Sunday evening at the Great Wolf Lodge Convention Center.

He received a check for the $150,000-to-win championship – his fifth since 2006 – at the event, which honored the 11 full-time Outlaws as well as the marketing partners for the World of Outlaws.

“The fact that we ran second a lot and third a lot, and that’s what wins championships – is what you do on the nights when you can’t win,” Schatz said. “This ranks up there as one of the hardest fought ones. We had some of the lowest lows and the highest highs.”

Craig Dollansky finished second in the standings, which was his best result since 2006. Sammy Swindell, who led the series with 13 feature victories, placed third and Joey Saldana ended fourth – his eighth top-five finish since 2002. Steve Kinser, who is a 20-time champion and the winningest driver in the series, garnered his unprecedented 31st top-five result. (more…)

Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky., who finished third, was presented his second career World of Outlaws championship trophy in a confetti- and fireworks-filled ceremony moments after Owens stood on the winner’s stage.

Owens, 40, certainly didn’t have his amazing feat diminished by the dual Victory Lane celebrations. He earned plenty of recognition from the standing-room-only crowd of over 14,000 and the national television audience that watched the PEAK World Finals by NAPA on the SPEED cable network.

“Words can’t describe how much it means to win these two races this weekend,” said Owens, who has been victorious a record five times in 12 WoO LMS A-Mains contested during the PEAK World Finals by NAPA since the event’s birth in 2007. “It just means so much to me to pull this off. Blaney Beats Attrition at PEAK Motor Oil World Finals Presented by NAPA

Schatz crowned with his fifth World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship

CONCORD, N.C. – Nov. 3, 2012 – The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series finished the season with a bang. And a smash. And a clank.

In front of packed grandstands and a television audience on SPEED, Donny Schatz claimed his fifth championship on Saturday evening at the Sixth annual PEAK Motor Oil World of Outlaws World Finals Presented by NAPA Auto Parts. However, Schatz’s season ended in a wreck as he was one of seven drivers who either crashed or sustained an issue while racing in the top 10 at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

A night after a flat tire ended his night while competing for the win, Dale Blaney survived the attrition to record his second Outlaws victory of the season.

“The last race of the year, to win down here in front of this crowd and everything, it’s pretty cool,” he said. “We had a little bit of luck … but our car was really good. I’ve got a little bit of talent, but a lot of luck is a lot better.” (more…)

Hearn Caps off Stunning Season with Finale Victory

PEAK World Finals presented by NAPA adds another big race to Hearn’s list of wins for 2012

CONCORD, N. C – November 4, 2012 – Brett Hearn’s performance late in the 2012 Super DIRTcar Series season has been anything but anticlimactic. He capped off a stunning season Saturday, Nov. 3, with a victory in the series finale during PEAK Motor Oils World of Outlaws World Finals presented by NAPA Auto Parts at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

Hearn’s season went from good to great in August after returning from an illness-related two-race hiatus to start 23rd in the field and charge to the win at Lebanon Valley Speedway for Mr. DIRT Track U. S. A. From then on it kept improving, with his sixth VP Small Engine Fuels victory at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, a win in Orange County Fair Speedway’s Eastern States 200, and this most recent victory takes Hearn’s great season to another level.

“We worked hard to get here,” said Hearn, of Sussex, N. J. “I’ve wanted to win this race for quite a while, for the last few years we’ve been coming here.”

Drawing the fourth spot on the starting grid, Hearn was in a good position to earn a strong finish. However, the competition was tough, with multi-time Australian V8 Modified National Champion Peter Britten starting on the pole, Jimmy Phelps, second in points, starting second, and two-time series champion Matt Sheppard starting third.
