OCALA, FL – Ronny Lee Hollingsworth is on a roll in NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Rock Auto.com Speedweeks Presented By Racecar Engineering action at Bubba Raceway Park.  Right Foot Ronny made it two straight on Wednesday night with a win in the 40-lap main event driving the Sparks Motorsports Special.

Hollingsworth claimed his ground in the Bubba Raceway Park Victory Lane and hoisted the $2,000 check after taking a 2.340 second margin of victory over Walker Arthur of Forest, VA, who finished second in the Cecil B. Arthur Beef Farms Special.  Justin McRee of Cottondale, AL took the third spot in the High Roller Race Cars Special.

After the first two nights of the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series competition, Hollingsworth has a perfect 200 points and holds a 14 point advantage over McRee, who is in the second spot in the points chase with 186.  Hollingsworth made it a “clean sweep” on Wednesday night by setting fast time honors, winning his ten-lap heat race, and taking the main event.

Shan Smith of Dade City, FL was fourth in the Outlaw Race Parts TNT and defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Champion Chase Washington of Houlka, MS finished fifth in the Jerry Inmon Racing Special.  Ryan Montgomery of Fairmount, WV started 18^th in the Central Supply Warrior and finished sixth to earn the Hedman Husler of the Race Award.

Ivedent Lloyd Jr. of Ocala, FL took the seventh spot in the Harrod Logging Special and two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Champion David Earl Gentry of Murfreesboro, TN was eighth in the Eads Farms/Hardy & Associates Warrior.  Jeff Mathews of Valrico, FL drove the CURS Warrior to a ninth-place finish.  Austin Kirkpatrick of Ocala, FL rounded out the top ten in the Sonny’s BBQ Special and was the Rookie of the Race. OCALA, FL – Ronny Lee Hollingsworth of Northport, AL picked up the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series season opener and the first night of the Rock Auto.com Speedweeks Presented by Racecar Engineering at Bubba Raceway Park on Tuesday night.  Hollingsworth led all 40 laps in the Sparks Motorsports Special.

Hollingsworth held off a late-race charge from Kyle Bronson of Brandon, FL in the Brandon Ford Warrior, but “Right Foot Ronny” was able to keep Bronson behind him to take the checkered flag with a .744 second margin of victory and pick up the $2,000 top prize.  Bronson took the second spot with Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA taking the third spot in the AES Racing Special.

Justin McRee of Cottondale, AL finished fourth in the High Roller Race Cars Special and Jeff Mathews of Valrico, FL drove the CURS Warrior to a fifth-place finish.  Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN was sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Special and Jake Teague of Oliver Springs, TN finished seventh in the Wade’s Body Shop Special.

Jason Fitzgerald of Middleburg, FL started 17^th in the M&M Transport Refrigeration GRT and finished eighth to earn the Hedman Husler of the Race Award.  Two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Champion David Earl Gentry of Murfreesboro, TN took the ninth spot in the Eads Farms/Hardy & Associates Warrior.

Shan Smith of Dade City, FL came back from a spin near the halfway point in the 40-lap race to round out the top ten in the Outlaw Race Parts TNT.  Cody Martin of Christiana, TN finished 18^th in the My Racing Graphics.com Warrior to earn the Rookie of the Race Award. (more…)

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series has added two events to the 2013 Touring Division schedule. The series will make its first ever visit to Tennessee National Raceway in Hohenwald, TN on July 26, and then travel to Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN on July 27.

Tennessee National Raceway will host an open practice session on July 25 to prepare for the $2,000-to-win 40-lap race there the next night on July 26. The July 27 race at Clayhill Motorsports will be a 50-lap $2,500-to-win event, and the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series will bring the Ride For Life two-seat dirt late model to benefit the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Race fans at Clayhill Motorsports will have the opportunity to bid at a special auction and purchase chances to win a ride at race speed sitting next to their favorite driver piloting the Ride Car Life race car. All of the proceeds from the highest bids at the driver’s auction and the sale of the ride chances will all go to the local chapter of the American Cancer Society. (more…)

The NeSmith Late Models presented by CrateRacinUSA will travel back to Bubba Raceway Park next week, the same place they finished their 2012 season up less than 2 months ago. Ivedent Lloyd, Jr. will have a busy month and it starts with trying to stay perfect in NeSmith-sanctioned races on his playground. David Earl Gentry, one of NeSmith’s most succesful drivers, will try to avenge his championship runner-up finish while 2012 champion Matthew Turner will hope to be more competitive this time around. Shan Smith and Doug Horton were the 2nd and 3rd place finishers in the 2012 World Championship Finale and will throw their names into the mix once more as they go for the glory, points, and the cash! A 5-day General Admission ticket is $60 while a pit-pass is $30 all 5 nights of racing. CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division opens the 2013 season with the five-race Rock Auto.com Speedweeks Presented by Racecar Engineering on January 28 through February 2 at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, FL.  Rock Auto.com and Racecar Engineering have combined to offer a $10,000 cash point fund.

The action will begin on January 28 with an open practice session, and the first of four 40-lap $2,000-to-win races will be held on January 29.  Three more 40-lap $2,000-to-win races will follow on January 30, 31, and February 1, with the February 2 finale running 50-laps and paying $3,000-to-win.

Drivers that compete in all five NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series events at Bubba Raceway Park will be eligible for the Rock Auto.com/Racecar Engineering $10,000 point fund that will pay back 30 spots in the point standings after the February 2 race.  Those drivers will also be eligible for a drawing of special product contingency awards.

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Tennessee National Raceway in Hohenwald, TN has signed on with the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series beginning fulltime during the 2014 season, with an option to join in 2013 with sufficient interest from competitors.  Tennessee National Raceway will give their Late Model competitors an option to run under NeSmith Chevrolet WRS rules in 2013.

“We are proud to be bringing the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Weekly Racing Series to Tennessee National Raceway in 2014,” Tennessee National Raceway Owner Bill Hibbits said.  “We believe in what the series is doing to help race tracks and late model racing and want to be a part of it.”

Hibbits said Tennessee National Raceway wants to give their dirt late model competitors an opportunity to have the time to change over to the economical Chevrolet Performance 604 Crate Engines that power the cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series.  However, for the 2013 season, the track will make concessions for those competitors wishing to run by the NeSmith rules. CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series has announced its 2013 Touring Division schedule with 21 confirmed dates over nine weekends at 13 different tracks in seven different states.  The NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS will return to ten tracks from the 2012 season, and will visit three new tracks for the first time.

Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, FL will bookend the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division schedule by opening and closing the season with two blockbuster events.

The first stop of the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series season will see five races in five nights for Speedweeks from January 29 through February 2.  The 2013 season will conclude with the 100-lap $10,000-to-win 9^th Annual Chevrolet Performance Parts World Championship Race on November 28-30.

The five-race series will feature a separate point with cash and contingencies worth over $20,000 and paying back 30 spots.  The first four Speedweek events at Bubba Raceway Park from January 29 through February 1 will be 40-lap races that pay $2,000-to-win, and the finale on the fifth night on February 2 will be 50 laps and pay $3,000-to-win. CARTERSVILLE, GA – The 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Champion Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA has been named the Southern Race Week Radio Dirt Late Model Driver of the Year.  The Southern Race Week Radio Show is syndicated to 28 radio stations throughout Georgia and Alabama.

This award is the latest of accolades Turner has received since winning his first NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Championship at the series’ season finale on December 1 at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, FL.  Turner edged out two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Champion David Earl Gentry of Murfreesboro, TN by ten points.

The week after winning the title, Turner and his #10 Hedman Husler championship-winning race car made the trip to the International Motorsports Industry Show (IMIS) in Indianapolis, IN, where the race car was displayed in the IMIS Hall of Champions.  Turner was also honored, with many other National Racing Champions at a special reception on December 5 at Lucas Oil Stadium.

“Our team has worked hard to win this championship, but we haven’t had much time to let it all sink in, as it has been so humbling and overwhelming to be honored like we have with the Southern Race Week Driver of the Year Award, and be in the Hall of Champions at the IMIS Show,” Turner said.  “When you think about all of the great drivers in Georgia and Alabama they could have picked for the Driver of the Year Award, and then to be recognized with guys like Cup Champion Brad Kesoloski, and World of Outlaws Champion Donnie Schatz at the IMIS Show, plus rubbing elbows with Tony Stewart, just shows how far we’ve come as a team, and how far the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series has come as a series over the past eight years.” (more…)
