NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR SEPTEMBER 24

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The point lead changed hands three times in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 26 competition and ended up with Chase Washington of Houlka, MS and Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA tied at the top of the list with 798 points apiece.  The Hottest Point Battle in Racing now heads to the 27th and final week of the season for the $10,000 prize.

While the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point battle is still to be decided, one championship was settled in Week 26 action.

Neil Lee of Flowood, MS in the JWH Equipment GRT swept the Double Features on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS and Chad Washington of Greenville, MS drove the Washington Body Shop GRT to his first win of the season on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS.

Those three wins gave GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR their fifth and second straight NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Championship.  With five races remaining in the 2012 season, GRT Race Cars has a six win advantage over two-time champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL.  GRT has 34 NeSmith Chevrolet WRS wins this season and Trak-Star has 28 wins. NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 25 PREVIEW

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 25 of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will see seven races at five tracks in four states.  With three weeks left in the season, Chase Washington of Houlka, MS and Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA are tied for the point lead, and five other drivers still have a mathematical chance to win the $10,000 Championship.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 25 competition begins on Friday night at Malden Speedway in Malden, MO with a Double Feature event.  The first feature race will be the Week 24 make-up race and the second feature will award Week 25 points.  Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS will also host a Friday night Week 25 event.

Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS will present NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Double Feature events this Saturday night.  The first feature race will the make-up race and will award points for Week 7, and the second feature race will be the regularly scheduled Week 25 race.  (more…)

NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR SEPTEMBER 4

Trosclair Beats Hurricane Isaac To Reclaim Point Lead

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA made a very eventful week a successful one by reclaiming the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point lead after a Week 23 win at Albany Motor Speedway in Albany, GA driving the J. Dunning Sandblasting and Painting Special.  It was the 22nd win of the season for Trosclair and his 11th 50-point win.

With five NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 23 races rained out due to Hurricane Isaac and its remnants, Trosclair had to make a 900-round trip to Albany, GA and win the race to net two points.

Just the fact that Trosclair made the long trip to race shows how bad he wants to win the $10,000 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Championship, but under the circumstances that he went through to pull it off are remarkable, and could prove to be the difference between first and second-place in the points chase. J-MAC DOES IT AGAIN WITH NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS WIN AT THE MAG

COLUMBUS, MS – Justin McRee of Cottondale, MS won the Black Ice 40 for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division on Sunday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway.  It was the third win of the season for J-Mac, and his second in as many nights driving the High Roller Race Cars Special.

McRee held off a mid-race challenge from two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Champion David Earl Gentry of Murfreesboro, TN, who took his Eads Farms/Hardy & Associates Warrior to the high side, and passed McRee for the lead on lap 21.  McRee took back the lead one lap later, went to the high side of the track, and checked out on the field.

“We checked out early running the bottom of the track, but when I saw David Earl up on the high side, I knew it was time to get up there,” McRee said.  “That’s where I need to be anyway because this is a High Roller Race Car that we built in our shop.  We’ve been working with it all season, and I think we’ve got it where we want it.  The next phase is to build some to sell.  This car is for sale.”  (more…)

McREE TAKES WHYNOT NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS WIN AND GENTRY TAKES POINT LEAD

MERIDIAN, MS – Justin McRee of Cottondale, AL drove the High Roller Race Cars Special to his second Whynot Motorsports Park NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series win of the season on Saturday night in the 7th Annual Coca-Cola 50.  McRee took the lead on the second lap and then never looked back.

Mike Boland of Cuba, AL started 14th and drove the Lee Racing Trak-Star to a second-place finish after a late race duel with Klint Byers of Calhoun City, MS.  Byers finished third in the Knock Em Out Kennels Trak-Star.

David Earl Gentry of Murfreesboro, TN led the first lap and then finished fourth in the Eads Farms/Hardy & Associates to take over the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division point lead in quest of his third $20,000 Championship.  Gentry now holds a two-point lead over Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA with three races left in the 2012 season. NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLE HEADS TO MISSISSIPPI

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division $20,000 Championship battle heads to Mississippi for two races this weekend, and after over a month off, the drivers are chomping at the bit to get it on.  Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA leads two-time series champion David Earl Gentry of Murfreesboro, TN by 18 points.

Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS will open the double racing weekend with the $2,500-to-win 7th Annual Coca-Cola 50 on Saturday night.  Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS will host the $2,000-to-win Black Ice 40 on Sunday night.  The two races will be Rounds 19 and 20 of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series season.

Turner, Gentry and third-place Larry Harrod of Plains, GA have been title contenders in the past.  Turner had been a championship runner-up, and a third-place finisher in two seasons.  Gentry is a two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Champion and was the championship runner-up last season.  Harrod finished fourth in the 2010 standings when he was the VP Racing Fuels Rookie of the Year.  (more…)

NeSMITH CHEVROLET DIRT LATE MODEL SERIES ADJUSTS WHYNOT RACE

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division race scheduled for this weekend at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS has been adjusted to be the one-day $2,500-to-win 7th Annual Coca-Cola 50 this Saturday night.  The $2,000-to-win Black Ice 40 at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS remains on the schedule for Sunday night.

The Whynot Motorsports Park race was changed from a two-day $5,000-to-win 75-lap race to a one-day $2,500-to-win race on Saturday night due to forecasted heavy rain from Hurricane Isaac that made landfall on Tuesday night near New Orleans.  The storm system is forecasted to leave the area by Thursday. CARTERSVILLE, GA – There is a new point leader after Week 22 of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition.  Chase Washington of Houlka, MS was able to net two points after his 11th win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS driving the Jerry Inmon Racing Special.

Washington now has 795 points and holds a one-point lead over Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA in the battle for the $10,000 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Championship.  Trosclair did not net any points in Week 22 competition, and has 794 points in the J. NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 22 PREVIEW

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 22 schedule of events show nine events featuring a double-feature Friday night show, and a pair of big money Saturday night races.  There are a plethora of point battles from the top of the standings throughout the Top 20.

Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS will open NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 22 competition on Friday night with a double-feature event.  The first feature race will be a Week 17 make-up race, and the second feature race will be the regularly scheduled Week 22 race.

NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR AUGUST 20

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The points battle for the $10,000 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Championship continues to tighten up after Week 21 competition, as Chase Washington of Houlka, MS has closed to within one point of Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA at the top of the points list.

Washington took his tenth win of the season on Friday night at Malden Speedway in Malden, MO to net two points driving the Jerry Inmon Racing Special.  Trosclair was also planning on making the trip to Malden Speedway, but his tow rig broke down, and rainouts on Saturday night and Sunday night prevented Trosclair from attempting to net points.
