Bloomer Wins Ralph Latham MemorialUNION, KY (August 11, 2016) – Scott Bloomquist took over the lead on lap five and never looked back as he went on to win the 30th Annual Ralph Latham Memorial on Thursday night at Florence Speedway. The two-time Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion and current point leader earned $30,000 for his victory. It was his first Ralph Latham Memorial win since 2006.

Bloomquist Charges Late to Win NAPA Know How 50

Bloomer NAPA Know HowGRANITE CITY, ILLINOIS (July 15, 2016) – Scott Bloomquist passed Earl Pearson Jr. with three laps-to-go to win the NAPA Know How 50 on Friday Night at Tri-City Speedway. The current Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship Points Leader went on for his ninth series win of the season and he extended his points lead.

Pearson was looking for his first LOLMDS win of the season, and appeared to be heading to victory lane, but a lapped car slowed his momentum and allowed Bloomquist to make the late-race pass. Don O’Neal finished in third, followed by 14th-starting Brandon Sheppard, and Dennis Erb Jr.

Bloomquist and fellow Hall-of-Famer, Billy Moyer staged a terrific race for second during the first half of the race. After the half-way mark, Bloomquist began to close-in on Pearson and with five laps to go was within striking distance of the leader. Pearson got trapped behind a lapped car and could not get around him when Bloomquist snuck under both of them to snag the lead.

In Lucas Oil Victory Lane for the 71st time in his career, the 52-year-old Bloomquist breathed a sigh of relief in taking the win. “Earl was pretty good tonight. He would hit a hole or two in the track like all the rest of us. We just kept digging and moving around a lot. We had to get it going late. The laps were winding down and it was time to go. That lapped car definitely gave us an advantage. We were catching him [Pearson] anyway.” (more…)

Bloomquist Takes Grassy Smith Memorial at Cherokee Speedway

2016news_7-8GAFFNEY, SC (July 8, 2016) – Scott Bloomquist won his third straight Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event on Friday Night at Cherokee Speedway by leading all but one lap of the main event. After a 4-hour rain delay, the standing room only crowd saw Bloomquist take the win in the Grassy Smith Memorial, also marking his 70th career LOLMDS win.

Casey Roberts came home in second, followed by Johnny Pursley, Brandon Sheppard, and 18th-starting Jonathan Davenport.

Chris Madden managed to lead lap 18, marking the only lead change throughout the long battle between himself and Bloomquist. Madden took the lead in heavy traffic much to the pleasure of his home-track crowd, but under the ensuing caution Madden’s right rear tire went flat and he was forced to pit. He never returned to the track.

“I know we have finished later at some tracks,” said the winner after the race that ended at about 3:20 am local time. “At the start, I kind of just settled in on the bottom. I really couldn’t see where the cushion was. I think we were still fast enough and could have gotten it done.” (more…)

Bloomquist Takes Third Straight Lucas Oil Win at Portsmouth

Bloomquist at PortsmouthPORTSMOUTH, OH (July 2, 2016) Scott Bloomquist rolled to his third straight Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory at Portsmouth Raceway Park on Saturday Night. In front of a massive crowd, Bloomquist led all 60 laps of the Independence 60, and now holds a 20-point lead over Jonathan Davenport in the Lucas Oil Championship Standings.

Jared Landers came from seventh to finish second in the Lance Landers Motorsports/Crop Production Services/Sweet-Bloomquist entry. Steve Francis finished third in the Optima Batteries/Tim Logan Racing/Black Diamond Chassis. Completing the top five were Tim McCreadie and former track champion, Rod Conley.

“Everyone has to be pretty tired after driving back home from a race in Kentucky last night. We tore the whole right side of the body off the car last night, so we went back to get this one ready. We have got two good cars now. This is the car I wanted to run here to get ready for the DTWC later this year,” said Bloomquist in Lucas Oil Victory Lane.

“I think we are pretty happy with where we are at. I didn’t realize until later that we broke the track record in qualifying. This car can just get around this track so well. It was good to see Jared come in second. I wasn’t worried with that caution with two laps to go. It was getting a little difficult to pass.” (more…)
