The Florida United Promoters Series Super Late Models Return to Auburndale Speedway
The Florida United Promoters Series Super Late Models will return to their “Home Track”, Auburndale Speedway this Saturday October 19th for the running of the REGAL KIA-CHEVY 100. With just a few races remaining for the crowning of the 2013 Champion, the points battle has tighten up between Wayne Anderson who lost twenty five points and was fined after an altercation at Citrus last month and Daniel Webster from Brooksville now only seven points separate them. Third place in the standings forty points behind Webster is Sarasota’s Jessie Dutilly who holds a thirteen point lead over Naples Billy Bigley Jr..

This past Saturday night saw the FL United Promoters Series return to “The Friendliest Track in the South” Citrus Co. Speedway for the running of the Sunoco 100 Presented by Karnac.com. With twenty two Super Late Models and fifteen Legends making the trip to Inverness for another night of spectacular racing in all classes. At the wave of the green, the field chased Sarasota’s Jesse Dutilly for 26 laps as he built a commanding lead before the nights 1st caution can out for a broken radiator on the #47 of Keith Zarvel. Back to racing Daniel Webster worked his way from his 7th position starting spot to overtake Dutilly on lap thirty nine. Webster checked out from the rest of the field lapping everyone but the top five with the help of a long green flag run until lap 74 for a spin by Naples Billy Bigley Jr.. On the restart Anderson SC competitor Eric Stokes collected Daryl Shelnut, George Gorham Jr. and track favorite Scott Grossenbacher going into turn one, all four were done for the night. With Webster in the lead, he was challenged by Mike Bresanhan and series points leader Wayne Anderson who had come from his 11th starting spot. After 3 outside lane restarts Webster’s “Hot Rod” was to strong for Bresanhan and Anderson, at the checkered it was Webster, Bresanhan, Anderson, Jeff Scofield, rookie contender Anthony Cataldi rounding out the top five. In the 6th -10th slots were Herb Neumann Jr., Dutilly, Dylan Bigley, Daniel Keene Jr. & Todd Brown
Wayne Anderson picked up win number six for The Powell Family Memorial 125 and #6 for the FUPS Season this past Saturday at Citrus Co. Speedway. Starting in the tenth position after a slower qualifying speed than he had posted all day in practice, he found the right set up to take the lead on lap 53 of the 125 lap event. Anderson was challenged by Brooksville’s Daniel Webster who dogged him right up to the final lap with some of the best racing seen all year.
This Saturday July 20th the FL United Promoters Series presents the 2nd Annual Bryan Storer Memorial 115 at Auburndale Speedway. This event is hosted by the Storer and Macy Families to commemorate the memory of Brian who raced for many years here in Florida. Last years inaugural event won by Daniel Webster who also was the last winner at Auburndale for the FUPS race on June 22nd will be on hand to defend his victory. He will be chased by FUPS regulars, points leaded Wayne Anderson, Jesse Dutilly, home track “Fast Man” Jonathan Guy, Billy Bigley Jr, Anthony Cataldi, Jake Perkins, Randy Anderson, and many more. The FUPS Legends & Bandolers will be joined by the Mod Mini’s, V-8 Bombers, Scramblers, and Street Stocks for the nights action.
The Florida United Promoters Series after two months without a race, finally got one in at the tight 1/4 mile Auburndale Speedway on Saturdaynight with the running of the Regal Kia Chevy 100. With eighteen super late models on hand there was some good racing going on and Brooksville’s Daniel Webster hung on for his first series win in any touring group. By the inversion of the redraw, Ft. Lauderdale’s Patrick Starpoli started on the point with series regular Jessie Dutilly on the outside of the front row. Starpoli would set sail and lead the first twenty one laps before an ill handling car cost him the lead giving way to Webster. The always smooth young gun Webster took the lead and was never challenged, Dutilly and series points leader Wayne Anderson got close by had nothing for the #33 Webster’s Race Cars Chevrolet. Following Webster across the strip were, Anderson, Dutilly, Jonathan Guy and Billy Bigley who both came from the rear to complete the top five.
After two consecutive rained out events the Florida United Promoters Series will return to Auburndale Speedway this Saturday nightJune 22nd for the Regal Kia Chevy 100. With the May 4th and the Powell Family Memorial two weeks ago getting beat by the weather the FUPS competitors are itching to get back racing on Rex Guy’s tight 1/4 mile track that always generates excitement.
