Here at Karnac and sunshine State racing we want to honor our class champions from all classes all over the state and help you know more about them and their accomplishments.

Tonight we celebrate Jeff Guilbault Sr. the 2020 4-17 Southern Speedway and events and Showtime speedway points Champion. Join us in Congratulating him and his team and find more information about Jeff below.

Congratulations Jeff

I was born into racing in 1975 in Springfield MA. My family raced sk and tour mods . Reggie rugerio and many others like steve park drove for my uncle .

After a Couple mini stocks starts in 1992 I was hooked as a driver. In 1994 my younger brother and I had pieced a 1976 camaro together. It won 4 races and rookie of the year and the Hank Thorton hard charger award at Desoto Speedway . I floundered around for 4 years in the street stocks winning a few races a year.

I was a young man raising two boys and really had a hard time funding racing. In 1998 I backed down to the mini stock class because of the financial burden of the street stocks .

That’s when I met my wife we had another child. We raced strong in the pro trucks from 2001 to 2005 winning many races all around the state . However the kids were getting bigger. We could now afford to race but they were into stick and ball sports so we decided to hang it up.

In 2009 we went to watch little brother race because he was quickly becoming a bad ass racer himself. Well that was it, weeks later we were building a race car to come back out . Our first race back was April 2015 and what used to be easy was now real hard. The competition was tough and I got my butt kicked a few times.

One Friday morning in June 2015 I had a severe heart attack and now was sidelined for another year . I still had the race truck and worked as I could as i healed. In 2016 we won the pro truck championship at Desoto . We sold that truck in 2018.

It has been a dream of mine to have something that wasn’t a simple street stock type car. The fast growing sportsman class fit our budget . we spent all of 2019 building the car we have today. It actually won on its first night out this year. It was my first win in 15 years. My last win was my last race when i stopped in 2005. My 2 daughters finally got to see me win and live the excitement of that. It is and always will be the highlight of my racing career.

We finished the year off with 2 feature wins and a pair of track points championships. The championships were at 417 and Showtime speedways.

I’m looking forward to 2021 with my family and friends at the track.

Same looks but a different class for Billy Bigley Jr.

Same looks but a different class for Billy Bigley Jr.

It has been a few years since Billy Bigley Jr. has raced full time after stepping back from the late model to help concentrate on his Son’s Dylan and Corey’s racing, but that all changed last weekend at 4-17 Southern Speedway. Billy had not raced in over a year when he raced in honor of long time friend Richie Anderson in his late model for his memorial race. Dylan and Corey have been keeping the Bigley name going with success in both the trucks and the late model this year.

Billy has been focused most of the year concentrating on promoting a race in his Dad’s honor the Bill Bigley Sr. Memorial and what a turn out that race had.

Billy said earlier this year he had the idea to take an old chassis they had sitting around the shop and make a sportsman car out of it to just go have some fun. Well after thrashing the last few weeks with family and friends the car was ready for it’s debut last Saturday.

The Car had not flashy surprises it was the normal Bigley Motorsports flat black with bright neon orange numbers with yellow trim and as always no sponsor stickers on the side. The car did have the all familiar stability of being good once Billy got behind the wheel. Qualified in the top 5 and finished the race 3rd for the first time out.

Billy was surround by his family and friends in victory lane after the 3rd place finish with a big smile on his face as he knew he still had what it takes to compete with the best of the best. He thanked his family and all hid friends that helped make his return to the track possible. He gave a Special Thanks to Mike LeMaster and said the night would probably not have happened with out him.

His Son Dylan will drive the car next at 4-17 Southern Speedway in the 10 to win Frostbite 200 in January.

Merry Christmas and Thank You From all of us at Karnac and Sunshine State Racing

Well how do we sum up 2020 life without using the words dumpster fire.. At the start of 2020 life was good. We were rocking and rolling then Covid happened. We were not sure what that meant for our race families. For the people who owned small businesses. For our racetracks who work tirelessly to keep the gates open. But thankfully we were able to continue racing after a short break and I think everyone will agree it was the thing that kept most of us sane during the craziness.
2020 turned out to be an amazing year for us here at Sunshine State Racing with the addition of Karnac. Then joined forces with Black Sails Racing who brought our fans a whole new level of BADA** coverage!!! We are so thankful for them joining us and loving our fans as much as we do.
Thank you to each and everyone of you who support us religiously week in and week out.
Thank you to all the tracks who allow us to bring racing to you and trust us to promote all their events. We appreciate you so very much.
Thank you to every single marketing partner who has helped Robert and I this year. Thank you to our go pro guys who have kicked butt with amazing footage all year! We literally could not do this without you.
Thank you to our drivers and their sponsors who let us invade your space week in and week out. We have the best drivers in the world and appreciate y’all letting us showcase you!!
Who would of thought 2020 would of brought us actual broadcasts, NBC GOLD, Bigley Memorial, sell out crowd and beyond amazing finish and so much more.
We work hard because we love this sport and will continue working to grow the sport and showcase each and everyone of you.
(We are working on 2021 schedule now so tracks message us what events you want covered!!)
Thank you all so much for an amazing 2020 and cannot wait to see what 2021 has in store for our race family! We love you guys!!
Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Holidays !! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! See ya soon!!!
Your Team SSR

Auburndale Speedway Makes Schedule Changes for January in cooperation with other tracks to bennifit the racers

Auburndale Speedway Makes Schedule Changes for January in cooperation with other tracks to benefit the racers.

Auburndale Speedway 12/14/20 – Attention all drivers and fans !
We want to announce a change in our schedule for January 2021. We were made aware of a conflict with a Sportsman event being held at 417 Southern Speedway Jan. 30th. This date was never posted on the 417 Schedule, or website info which was checked when we made and put out our 2021 schedule at the first of October. We were made aware that Ronnie Bacelo who apparently is helping to promote the event, had posted it on his page in June of last year, then recently it was again posted and began being promoted. This is not a place where Rick Bristol looked when working on the 2021 schedule. He checked the various tracks to see if they had posted any 2021 schedules and looked at big event dates from 2020 that may be on the same date area for the new season and made our schedule. In cooperation we are going to flip flop our two dates Jan. 23rd and 30th. So our Sportsman race will move to the 23rd and the Super Late Model opener will now be the Jan 30th date which also helps with a conflict with a race at Watermelon Capital in GA for Super Late Models. So please check our Website for the update along with our recently added Big Figure 8 event Feb. 12-13th !
We are hoping that in cooperating that courtesy would be returned as the 2021 schedules are being made or a phone call to discuss trying to avoid conflicts would be made. We are working hard to make 2021 a great season at Auburndale Speedway !
