DeCaire Dominates the field at 4-17 Southern Speedway to take second series win of the year

DeCaire Dominates the field at 4-17 Southern Speedway to take second series win of the year

Story from Pavement Pounders Dave Sink:

DECAIRE SPRINTS TO 417 SOUTHERN SPRINT WIN DESPITE NO POWER STEERING
February 13, 2021 – Punta Gorda, Florida – Troy DeCaire would not be denied a second consecutive Southern Sprint Car Shootout Series 2021 victory Saturday night despite the loss of power steering in the closing laps of his victory at 417 Southern Speedway.
When the green flag dropped DeCaire wasted no time charging to the front from his outside row two starting position. By the time he crossed the start finish line to complete the first lap, he had firmly established himself as the race leader.
He would go on to lead the 40-lap event wire-to-wire despite two late race double-file restarts that allowed LJ Grimm a brief opportunity to challenge DeCaire. DeCaire would go on to win the event by 1.371 seconds over runner-up Grimm.
In victory lane DeCaire explained he had lost power steering early in the race. ”I don’t know if a power steering line was leaking or something, its all over the car. Maybe I’m just old and got tired. I’m not really sure” explained DeCaire. ”I was struggling. I was getting a lot of wrap in the steering wheel. When I saw that yellow with three or four to go, I wasn’t happy to see that. You worry when you slow down because something might happen, and it might lock up. But the car was really good, and I never touched the wing. I can’t remember when the last time I done that”.
Following DeCaire was Grimm, Scotty Adema, Joey “The Ace” Aguilar, and Mike Tharp rounding out the top five.
With DeCaire’s win, he now finds himself undefeated in 2021 with 3 total winged pavement sprint car victories.
The event was also the only sprint car race contested in the state of Florida Saturday night as USAC Sprint Car events at Bubba Raceway and the “King of the 360’s” final at East Bay Raceway were canceled due to rain earlier in the day.

2. LJ Grimm (88)
3. Scott Adema (67)

5. Mike Tharp (J1)

DAVE STEELE CHAMPIONSHIP 125 TO UTILIZE 2020 LITTLE 500 RULES

DAVE STEELE CHAMPIONSHIP 125 TO UTILIZE 2020 LITTLE 500 RULES

Story From ground Pounders, Dave Sink

January 25, 2021 – Pinellas Park, Florida – Showtime Speedway officials today clarified the rules package for the upcoming February 26-27 “Dave Steele World Non Wing Sprint Car Championship 125”. The event utilized Little 500 rules at last years event and the same will hold true this year, albeit with the 2020 rules package.
Just last week Anderson Speedway officials altered the current Little 500 rules for this May’s event. Due to the lateness of the new Little 500 rules package, Showtime Speedway promoter Robert Yoho elected to stick with the 2020 rules. Many teams may not have had enough time to conform to the updated rules. Under the new Little 500 rules, the noticeable changes were a new weight rule and aerodynamic rules pertaining to body panels.
The tire compounds for the Feb. 26-27, 2021 event were already announced previously and are as follows:
RR – Hoosier 450
LR – Hoosier M-30
RF – Hoosier 2030
LF – Hoosier 2010
2020 Little 500 rules -TYPE OF CARS: Only normal traditional sprint car bodies will be permitted. Supermodified or Roadster type bodies are not permitted. No rear-engine sprinters or wings. NO OFFSET CHASSIS ALLOWED. All cars shall be rear wheel drive only. The rear axle offset shall be determined by measuring from the farthest portion of the wheel to the centerline of the rear axle
centerline assembly. The maximum distance allowed is forty-three inches. The total overall width is seventy-eight inches, front and rear. All cars must be equipped with roll cages. Cars
must have full belly pan. Additionally, all cars must utilize a BLANKET underneath the belly pan. FUEL CELL WITH BLADDER IS MANDATORY. Fuel tanks may not protrude from the body
of the car nor shall it cause lines of car to be altered out of shape or exposed outside the body and must be located in a standard, safe location. All cars must weigh a minimum of 1,300 lbs
before, during and after qualifying and the race without the driver. No starters or clutches are permitted on cars at any time. Methanol ONLY. Gasoline is prohibited.
