Duke Makes it Two in a Row in Citrus Super Late Model Action

14 Street Stocks were all looking to knock Curtis Flanagan (3) off the mountain in their 20 lap feature. Flanagan has taken every feature win this season, but one, and he suffered a mechanical failure in that event. David Kingsbury (73) and Robert Kuhn Jr (92) would occupy the front row for the green flag. Kingsbury would jump out the early lead with 5th place starter John Chance (61) settling into 2nd in the opening laps. Kingsbury and Chance would attempt to put some distance on the rest of the field, knowing that Flanagan would be making his charge to the front. (more…)

Rick Reed of Punta Gorda wins big Road Warrior 50

What looked to be like another rained out night of racing, turned out to be a night of some of the best racing action yet. Practice was just about over when a brief shower came through and put a damper on things and just when the track was dried it rained again. The speedway staff did a great job of pumping water, drying the track and speedway owner Kevin Williams gave the ok to open up and lets go racing.

If you stayed home you missed out on the door to door fast and furious racing action that makes PGS the place to be on Sat nights. (more…)

Pro Late Model 100 Orlando Speedworld – 13th April 2012

By Andy Sandall – FASCAR Media

It’s often said that Friday 13th can make racers do strange things out on the track, but at Orlando Speedworld it seemed to bring out the best in the drivers as they put on a great show across 7 senior divisions and treated the fans to some great racing. Headlining the show would be the 100 lap race for Pro Late Models, but the regular divisions had their fair share of thrills and spills too.

The Pro Late Models are a new division for 2012, representing an updated version of the old Limited Late Model class. Fast qualifier #36 Devin McLeod, his number identifying him as the latest driver to sit in the car made famous by Tim Russell, would start on the front row alongside #127 Kyle Maynard. With the dropping of the green flag it would take the teenager McLeod rake until just the third turn to be in lead with Maynard and #27 Bobby Good dropping behind him. (more…)

Ah, But It Isn’t Over Until The Check Is In Hand

The Buddy’s Home Furnishings/Sunoco United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series raced with the RaceCar Engineering Late Models in the 2nd annual Mike Peters Open while Buddy’s Limited Late Models, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunderstocks, and even spectators raced for glory in their respective divisions.

Limited Late Models ran a very clean and very quick race with the only caution falling on lap 1 for Eddie Gainey’s driveshaft. On lap 8 JO Nobles flew past Forrest Gough as they negotiated traffic and driver #18 kept flying all the way to the checkers. Gough came home 2nd with Bubba Clem yet again a solid 3rd. Adam Higginbotham and Kevin Mills completed the top 5. (more…)

T. J. Duke Dusts Super Late Model Field at Citrus County Speedway

T.J. Duke started his weekend at Citrus County Speedway on Friday night. Duke scheduled a test session to shake down a brand new car his team had just purchased. This would be no ordinary car, this new ride was purchased from none other than the “King of Florida short tracks”, Dick Anderson. Sliding into the same seat that has been occupied by such a racing legend, can often be a difficult task, but Duke proved to be ready for the challenge Saturday night.

18 Super Late Models registered for their 35 lap feature event, all hoping to take home the checkered flag. After the fan determined 2 row invert, Todd Brown (23) would find himself on the pole position, with Duke (28) along side for the start. (more…)
