UARA-STARS Give Fans a Jaw-Dropping Finish for City Chevrolet 150
Concord, NC (8-6-12) –The UARA-STARS delivered an action packed 150 lap race at Concord Speedway during the City Chevrolet event Saturday Night. While the checkered flag dropped for Garrett Campbell, Sean Rayhall and Dillon Bassett were battling for third but ended up driving vertically on the turn three wall with Bassett going through the outside fence. Bassett was awarded the Pigwire Electrifying Move of the Race Award for his part in this spectatular portion of the event. Both drivers climbed from their cars unharmed.
The City Chevrolet 150 had a total of 12 cautions with four blown motors and plenty of sheet metal ripped off. Garrett Campbell survived all the carnage and came to the finish line first claiming the checker.While most drivers were caught up in misfortune, Circle Wheel/Xtreme Trophies Rookie of the Race Brandon Jones had his best UARA race. The young driver qualified in the top five and raced hard with the other competitors to hold on to that position. 16 Mini Stocks started the night of hot racing action started with time trial qualifying for the Floral City Animal Clinic 50 lap feature for the Mini Stocks. After each driver took their shot at the time clock, Jeremy Sharrone (32) showed he knew the fast way around, taking top qualifier honors with a fast lap of 16.06 seconds. Jeff Eberly (01) would be your second fast qualifier with a lap of 16.18 seconds, and Ashlee Williamson 3rd with a 16.33 second lap. Once qualifying was over, the drivers starting positions were in the hands of the fans, the starting field invert would be up to the fans.
To no ones surprise, the fans wanted a full field invert, leaving your fast qualifier starting in the very last row. Jeff Eisenhauer (73) would benefit from the inversion and start on the pole position alongside Matthew Jenkins (10), who was making his first start of 2012. Eisenhauer would jump out to the early lead, but 3rd starter Shawn Jenkins (43) would make his way to the top spot by lap 3. The first caution flew at lap 16 for the stalled car of Matthew Jenkins, and reset the field for a restart.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Aug. 3, 2012 – It’s finally over. There were hugs and high fives, smiles and tears, greeting a subdued Lucas Wolfe in Victory Lane on a muggy Friday evening at Bloomington Speedway. Wolfe led the final 22 laps to claim his first career World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series feature victory.
Charlotte, NC 7/30/12– Kyle Grissom was declared the winner of the PASS South Southern Sizzler 150 at the Orange County Speedway Saturday night when rain showers moved in on the 3/8th mile track with just five laps remaining picking up his third series win of 2012. Grissom took the lead down the back stretch from the fourth starting position and never looked back leading all 145 laps of green flag racing.
Clermont, IN (July 27, 2012) – Boris Jurkovic and Erik Darnell led the field to the green flag to start the Fatheadz 100 presented by Team Construction at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis. 100 laps later 14 year old Kyle Benjamin became the youngest driver to win an ARCA/CRA Super Series event in dominating fashion as he beat back a challenge from Kenzie Ruston near the half way mark to win by 1.407 seconds. Ruston finished second, Travis Sauter third, Daniel Hamric fourth and Terry Fisher, Jr fifth.
