Caleb Holman Breaks Through to X-1R Pro Cup Victory Lane at Southern Nationa

calebholman_win_snmpMooresville, NC 7/15/13– So far this season Edelbrock Victory Lane has only been graced by two X-1R Pro Cup Series veterans in Clay Rogers and Mark McFarland. Rogers won the series’ first three events followed by McFarland taking care of business in the last two outings. Saturday night, Caleb Holman another longtime series supporter, piloted his #75 Food Country USA Chevrolet to a dominating victory; leading 141 laps of the NolesCabinets.com 200 at the Southern National Motorsport Park. The win came in just his second start of the 2013 season after blowing an engine on lap nine in his last outing at Motor Mile Speedway on June 8th.

“We had a pretty decent piece when we unloaded and then Butch (Miller) and the entire crew went to work on it throughout the day in practice to make the handling last over the long run and it looks like what we did worked,” explained an excited Holman in Edelbrock Victory Lane. “I settled in for second just to see how things were going to play out, and then I decided I need to see what we had over the final laps leading up to the halfway point, so I would know what to expect after the halfway break. Luck must have been on our side because we redrew the pole at the break and never looked back.” (more…)

Kay goes Back-to-Back with Deery Win at Davenport

Justin-Kay1DAVENPORT, Iowa (July 5) – A rare Friday night show during the regular weekly point season for IMCA Late Models resulted in a not-so-rare occurrence: Another repeat winner in the Deery Brothers Summer Series.

Justin Kay topped another 50-lap feature that ran green to checkered at Davenport Speedway. He’d raced to his tour career first win in Tuesday’s caution-free event Independence, then backed that performance up with another $3,000 victory at his home track.

Brian Harris, winner of four consecutive Deery events going into the Indee show, took runner-up honors behind Kay for a second straight night.

Andy Eckrich, hard charger Stephan Kammerer and Todd Malmstrom rounded out the top five.

Eckrich started on the pole and led the first two circuits before Kay, who had started third, zoomed by on the quarter-mile. The battle was clearly for second as Kay pulled away in lapped traffic.

Eckrich, the 12th starting Kammerer and seventh starting Harris swapped second before Eckrich settled in just before midway. Harris finally caught up and swiped the spot back on the last lap. (more…)

Mark McFarland Welcomes Himself Back to X-1R Pro Cup Series Victory Lane at Motor Mile Speedway

htc250_vl_mm smallMooresville, NC (06/09/13): The date was July 19, 2008 when Mark McFarland last visited Edlebrock Victory Lane at an X-1R Pro Cup Series event. Saturdaynight, for the first time this season, a driver was strong enough to break championship point’s leader Clay Rogers undefeated streak. Veteran Mark McFarland used his pole position and a little bit of luck on his side to win the Heritage Truck Centers 250 at Motor Mile Speedway. Rogers and rookie Brady Boswell were hot on his heels in the final lap before crossing the line in second and third respectively.

“First off it’s really special for us because the guy that owns this car, his shop is just right down the road”, said McFarland in victory lane. “This is his home track and we’ve always run good here, but have never been able to give him a win. Being able to win at Motor Mile Speedway is really special for him, me, and our entire team. Ron Fasion and this entire JMI Motorsports team made this happen, and worked their tails off to get this thing together in time. We didn’t decide we were coming untilWednesday night and had to rent a motor from Tyler Young (fellow Pro Cup competitor) just to get here. It just shows you how good this small team is.” (more…)

Clay Rogers Takes Advantage of Second Green-White-Checker Finish to Pass Mark McFarland for the Win at Kingsport

kingsport_race_pic2Mooresville, NC 5/20/13– It took two green-white-checker attempts to get the finish of Friday night’s MAHLE 250 at the Kingsport (TN) Speedway in the history books, but it was well worth it for the fans that braved the two and half hour rain delay. Clay Rogers took his #16 Lamb & Robinson Ford Fusion to the outside of Mark McFarland on the final lap of the race to score his third win of the season in the first three events of the 2013 X-1R Pro Cup Series season schedule.

“I was running Mark (McFarland) down there at the end but I figured I’d run out of time, and luckily we got that caution to setup the green-white-checker finish. I was doing all I could on the outside and I guess the #56 got into him and loosened him up and that gave me enough room to get back to the line first for the win,” explained Rogers in victory lane. “People think we’ve been winning these races just by showing up, but every time they get tougher and tougher and this team always brings the best piece we can to the track and rises to the challenge. It feels good to be standing here right now, and to be able to take home this awesome MAHLE piston trophy. It’s definitely one of the coolest ones I’ve ever won.” (more…)

Dale Pope Back In Victory Lane At East Bay Raceway Park

Pope-5-4-13-WinnerMay 4th, 2013 – Tampa, FL – It looked throughout the week that Mother Nature was going to play spoils for Saturday nights racing, but it was another cool night of racing here at East Bay Raceway Park. Five divisions were on hand with the Limited Late Models, Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds, V8 Warriors, Street Stocks and the Florida Old Time Mods ready to put on a show for the fans.

First feature of the night went to the Street Stocks with Brian Morgan and Garry Sheffield winning their heats. For the feature event it was Thomas Burnside and Roberto Morfin, Sr. making up the front row. When the green waved it was Burnside leading lap one until the first caution came out for several cars spinning and David Barwick, II tagging the back wall ending his night. Burnside would continue to lead until the next caution waved on lap nine as Michael Eaton spun in turn one. On lap ten it was Hunter Gustafson slapping the front stretch wall then spinning in turn one collecting Mike Wilson. On lap eleven it was Brian Morgan taking over the top spot after starting in the fifth position and going on to win the feature. Rounding out the top five were Thomas Burnside, Dennis Williams, Ronnie Heard and Dennis Wilson, Jr. (more…)
