Tennessee Racer Overcomes Penalty to Score $47,000 Crown Jewel Triumph

ROSSBURG, OH – Sept. 6, 2014 – Nothing could stop Scott Bloomquist from claiming his fourth World 100 trophy Saturday night at Eldora Speedway. Not a lap-19 penalty that dropped him from the lead to the tail of the field. Not a steady Dale McDowell looking for an Eldora crown jewel sweep. And not slower traffic during the race’s closing laps.

Bloomquist’s No. 0 Sweet-Bloomquist machine was unstoppable at the historic half-mile oval as it carried the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer through the field for a $47,000 victory in the 44th running of the DIRTcar UMP-sanctioned event.

“I believe everybody got to witness the fastest race car in the world right there,” Bloomquist, 50, of Mooresburg, Tenn., told the Eldora Speedway crowd, which for once was nearly unanimous in applauding a driver who usually polarizes fans. “We talked this week in the shop; I told everybody I was gonna win this race this weekend and here it is.”

Advancing from his fifth starting spot, Bloomquist first took the lead from McDowell on lap 19 only to be penalized for an unapproved window net and sent to the tail of the field when the caution waved on the following lap.

Kentucky Driver Claims Selinsgrove’s National Late Model Open for Second Straight Year

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Aug. 31, 2014 – Darrell Lanigan made sure his stellar 2014 World of Outlaws Late Model Series campaign will be remembered as one of the best ever on the national tour with a dominating victory at Selinsgrove Speedway on Sundayevening.

The two-time series champion and current points leader scored his 15th WoO LMS victory of the season at the historic half-mile oval, tying his own single-season win record set during his championship-winning season in 2012. Lanigan paced every lap ofSunday’s 50-lap A-Main, earning $10,650 for his second straight victory in Selinsgrove’s National Late Model Open.

“This definitely means a lot,” Lanigan said of the record-tying performance that marked his series-leading 68th career WoO LMS victory. “We go every week to win a race so to get that many wins just shows how great a car we have and how hard we’re working. New York Driver Charges from Sixth to Claim Half-Mile Oval’s Showdown on Sand Hill Main Event

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Aug. 30, 2014 – Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., charged forward from his sixth starting spot and overtook polesitter Shane Clanton of Zebulon, Ga., with five laps remaining in Saturday’s Showdown on Sand Hill A-Main at Selinsgrove Speedway on his way to his third World of Outlaws Late Model Series victory of the season. The 40-year-old McCreadie earned $8,650 in the first leg of the national tour’s doubleheader at the historic central Pennsylvania dirt track.

McCreadie, the 2006 WoO LMS champion, pulled away through the final laps of the 40-lap race, crossing the finish line with an advantage of 2.121 seconds. His 28th career WoO LMS victory marked his first trip to victory lane at the sprawling half-mile oval.

“It took me a little while to get going, but once I did, I think being able to move around early starting where I did helped me later,” said McCreadie, who chased down Clanton in his Sweeteners Plus Rocket Chassis as the two leaders raced through traffic during the race’s closing laps. “I don’t think Shane knew the track had changed that much, but it was a great night for Sweeteners and the whole program.” (more…)
