Ah, But It Isn’t Over Until The Check Is In Hand

The Buddy’s Home Furnishings/Sunoco United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series raced with the RaceCar Engineering Late Models in the 2nd annual Mike Peters Open while Buddy’s Limited Late Models, Hobby Stocks, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunderstocks, and even spectators raced for glory in their respective divisions.

Limited Late Models ran a very clean and very quick race with the only caution falling on lap 1 for Eddie Gainey’s driveshaft. On lap 8 JO Nobles flew past Forrest Gough as they negotiated traffic and driver #18 kept flying all the way to the checkers. Gough came home 2nd with Bubba Clem yet again a solid 3rd. Adam Higginbotham and Kevin Mills completed the top 5. (more…)

Bruce Harvey Back In Victory Lane At East Bay Raceway Park

Open-Wheel action was featured at East Bay Raceway Park with both the East Bay Sprints and Gagel Open-Wheel Modifieds taking to the track along with the Street Stocks, Outlaw 4’s and the Motorstats.com 4-Cylinder Bombers.

The Street Stock feature event had some of everything for a race fan to enjoy. The race got underway with the 69x machine of Jim Baker in control, but brought out the caution as he went around on his own coming off turn 2. (more…)

T. J. Duke Dusts Super Late Model Field at Citrus County Speedway

T.J. Duke started his weekend at Citrus County Speedway on Friday night. Duke scheduled a test session to shake down a brand new car his team had just purchased. This would be no ordinary car, this new ride was purchased from none other than the “King of Florida short tracks”, Dick Anderson. Sliding into the same seat that has been occupied by such a racing legend, can often be a difficult task, but Duke proved to be ready for the challenge Saturday night.

18 Super Late Models registered for their 35 lap feature event, all hoping to take home the checkered flag. After the fan determined 2 row invert, Todd Brown (23) would find himself on the pole position, with Duke (28) along side for the start. (more…)

Night One Complete

4-13-12 – The RaceCar Engineering Late Models ran the Mike Peters Open while Buddy’s Home Furnishings Limited Late Models, Barfield Law Group Mini Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators battled as well.

Limited Late Models saw Cory Howard spin on lap 8 as JO Nobles, Eddie Gainey, and Bubba Clem run 1-2-3. With 2 to go CJ Waldron spun which caused the restart that derailed JO Nobles Sunday drive. The rear end of the 18 broke giving Gainey the lead. Gainey held on over Adam Higginbotham, Clem, David Showers, and JO Nobles. (more…)

Ryan Pancoast “Nails” Both Street Stock Wins

It was a Saturday night that SouthWest Florida had a lot of Events going on along with a Nascar race and dark clouds rolling in over the Speedway and it did not look good. The loyal Punta Gorda Speedway fans came out to watch some of the best short track racing around and they were not disappointed. The sky cleared and the Late Models Sportsman pulled onto the track for their qualifying that saw the 13 of Aaron Williamson set fast time with 16.074.

The parade lap started the night off and joining the vehicals was the Royal Order of Ponce de Leon Conquistadors ship (the Palencia) that was filled with the kids who got to ride around the track. (more…)

Florida United Pro-Truck Series heads to Auburndale April 21st

4-12-12 – The Florida United Pro-Truck Series rolls into the tight little quarter mile known by many as “The Dale”. Auburndale Speedway hosts race two on the series Saturday night April 21st. All Compressor & Equipment Inc. will sponsor this event with bonus money throughout the field as they did in race one. Racecar Engineering has bonus certificates for 1st, 5th, 10th and 15th place finishers as well. There is a $50 Fast qualifier bonus from All Compressor & Equipment as well.

Tim Sozio grabbed top honors in race one at Desoto over a 21 truck field. Some great racing was seen as well as a few first race bugs, but overall fans and officials were very pleased.  (more…)

Series Procedure Changes, and more for FUP Late Model Series !

4-11-2012 – The FL United Promoters Series announced some changes for the series today. “After listening to the competitors who have competed this season we felt that changes were needed to increase the car count” stated series director Rick Williams. “The racers have expressed their thoughts on the tire impound rule & the tracks opening early on Sat. morning making it a very long day”.  (more…)

Two Days Of Mike Peters Open Action!

4-9-12 – The RaceCar Engineering Late Models headline Friday night’s show while the Buddy’s Home Furnishings Limited Late Models, Barfield Law Group Mini Stocks, and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators take to the track for their turn to win on the Mike Peters Open week-end!

Ivedent Lloyd, Jr. leads the standings after 3 weeks of action, however, he may not be able to race after his eventful out of state race last week. Richard Ferry comes off of a feel good win and sits just 9 points behind Lloyd. Bo Allen and Bryan Bernhardt are top 5 competitors and have come close to victory so far in 2012 and could finally break through on a big stage. (more…)

Zehr Wins at Orlando Speedworld

April 6th, 2012 – After the excitement of the previous week’s Bright House Challenge series race it was back to regular weekly division racing at Orlando Speedworld and the serious business of winning the track championships was first and foremost in every racer’s mind. With the first month of the new season in the books early favorites are emerging while new cars continue to appear as others return to their shops to be tweaked and improved based on early performances.
