Owens Survives High Banks Havoc at LoneStar Speedway

20130404-203205.jpgKILGORE, TX (April 6, 2013) – Two-time and reigning Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion Jimmy Owens survived to win the 50-lap High Banks Havoc on Saturday Night at LoneStar Speedway. Owens earned $10,000 for his second LOLMDS win of the season and the 38th of his career.

Owens took the lead from Scott Bloomquist on lap 33 and then held off Bloomquist for the win. Steve Francis finished third followed by Don O’Neal and Jared Landers.

“It is really a weight off of our shoulders to win this race after we had a rough time in Florida. It really was a pretty good race having several different leaders, I saw Scott running a line to avoid the holes and I followed him for a longtime, and finally we were able to pass him,” said Owens.

“You had to have a super good car tonight to withstand the tough track conditions. My crew worked really hard to prepare the car for these conditions tonight and it paid off. We’ve been needing a good points night and we got it tonight. I have to thank my car owner Mike Reece, Reece Monument Company, Gantte Appraisals, Sunoco Race Fuels and everybody else with this race team.” (more…)

Feger Thrills Home State Fans With March To Victory In Saturday’s Illini 100 At Farmer City Raceway

Becomes First Home-Grown Driver To Capture $20,000 World of Outlaws Late Model Series Event

20130317-230751.jpgFARMER CITY, IL – April 6, 2013 – Jason Feger’s dreams met reality on Saturday night at Farmer City Raceway.

The 34-year-old star from Bloomington, Ill., marched to victory in the fifth running of the Illini 100, becoming the first home-grown driver to win the blockbuster World of Outlaws Late Model Series event and setting off a raucous party among his legion of ‘Feger Nation’ supporters in the process.

“This is just awesome,” said Feger, who earned $20,050 for the biggest victory of his racing career. “I almost feel better for my fans than myself because I finally was able to put it together for them here at Farmer City. I’ve always said the hardest thing to do is win a big race at your hometrack because of all the added pressure, and man, we did it.”

Even the extremely windy conditions that whipped across the quarter-mile oval throughout the day and continued after the checkered flag could not dampen Feger’s excitement. (more…)

Golobic Realizes Dream as World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series Winner

He leads the final 21 laps and outlasts childhood hero Saldana at Antioch Speedway

20130406-101608.jpg

ANTIOCH, Calif. – April 5, 2013 – The offseason, weekdays, every night before falling asleep. There is a lot of time spent dreaming and for a young sprint car driver, dreams are the gateway for perseverance.
On Friday at Antioch Speedway, Shane Golobic’s dreams were nothing like reality.

Golobic passed polesitter Jonathan Allard in thick traffic on lap 10 and held off Joey Saldana – Golobic’s favorite World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series driver – to capture his first career victory, which left him talking almost as fast as he drove after an emotional celebration on the frontstretch.

“It doesn’t compare,” Golobic said as a smile engulfed his face. “I always knew it’d be pretty awesome to win one. I didn’t know if I was ever going to get the chance. There’s some guys who win a lot of races and don’t ever get to win an Outlaws race, so to be able to do it is awesome.

“I couldn’t be happier right now. We beat the best. The Outlaws are the best and we beat them. It’s just surreal to even think that we did it.” (more…)
