FASTRAK and Friendship Motor Speedway Have a Magical Weekend Reunion After 3 Years

219Elkin, North Carolina – The Friendship Motor Speedway is a 4/10th mile clay oval nestled off I-77 in the “Tarheel State” of Elkin, North Carolina. It’s seen its great share of racing throughout the decades whether it was an asphalt track or now currently the famous dirt clay oval everyone has come to enjoy. This previous weekend the FASTRAK Racing Series better known in the Southeast/Mideast Region as the FASTRAK City Chevrolet Touring Division competed for Round #3 in the Southeast/Mideast 2013 Points Championship hunt. The $2,000 to win event was a reunion for Les Wooten with Friendship Motor Speedway and FASTRAK Companies International. The last time FASTRAK was there was in October of 2010 in a race event in the Grand Nationals series.

Over 30 drivers convened to the 4/10th mile track on a beautiful “spring” Saturday afternoon. “The crowd turnout was the biggest it’s ever been in 2 years for an event after Les Wooten did financial tallies on the weekend, FASTRAK at Friendship was a huge success.” stated Jerry Farley – Race Director/Announcer at Friendship on FASTRAK Weekly LIVE National radio show Tuesday night to the public viewers. The racing was “fast, furious and exciting” to boot. (more…)

I-77 Raceway Park Allows Teams in All Regions to Qualify for World Championship in 2013

200Ripley, West Virginia – I-77 Raceway Park is a 3/8-mile dirt oval track that has been putting race fans on the edge of their seats since the mid-1970s. Dirt track racing the way it should be on a red clay track in Ripley, West Virginia. During the start of the 2013 race season there were talks about having the steel-head late models program associate with the crate late models of FASTRAK at I-77 Raceway Park. However, there has been such a tremendous response the past few races it’s becoming successful as one division.

It’s also exciting that I-77 Raceway Park is the only track that will allow the FASTRAK competitors to run either in the Northeast or Southeast region of their choice also, something that’s never been done at any track before. The quest for the 2013 FASTRAK World Championship which consists of a Quarter Million Dollars purse begins with running the minimum of 15 races to qualify in to the “Biggest Single Weekend Grass Roots Payout in the Country”. REUTIMANN MOVES UP TWO POSITIONS IN SPRINT CUP SERIES OWNER POINT STANDINGS

Daytona 500 - Practice

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (April 30, 2013)  David Reutimann and the No. 83 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Toyota team came home 22nd on Saturday night at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway in one of their best performances of the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season.  The team fought hard all night to move up in the running order, and ultimately gained two positions in the championship owner point standings.

Throughout the race weekend, Reutimann and the No. 83 BK Racing team worked hard making changes to their Camry and picked up nearly two seconds from opening practice to secure the 22nd starting position for the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway.

Racing into the night, the team had to leave room to adjust the handling of their No. 83 Burger King / Dr. Pepper Camry as the race progressed on Saturday night.  With the race scheduled to include 400 laps and at least seven pit stops, the BK Racing team knew they had plenty of time to work on their car.  When Reutimann called in to report a tight condition early in the race, the team devised a plan to loosen the handling and continued to make adjustments during each pit stop. Bubba Pollard Prevails in Battle of Hometown Stars at Gresham

Pollard Holds Off Fellow Georgian T.J. Reaid for Second-Straight Southern Super Series Win

Gresham 1JEFFERSON, GA (April 27, 2013) – Two Georgia drivers battled under the lights Saturday night at Jefferson, Georgia’s Gresham Motorsports Park, both desperately wheeling their cars to pick up the Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco victory in their backyard.  In the end, Senoia’s Bubba Pollard would win the Racing Radios 125 presented by Schoenfeld Headers after a fierce, but clean, battle with Acworth’s T.J. Reaid.

As a result, Pollard remains undefeated in Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco competition.  He captured the inaugural race victory at Tennessee’s Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville three weeks ago and his win Saturday was a popular one judging by the warm ovation fans gave him as he climbed out of his No. 26 JEGS.com Ford.

“Racing clean, that’s what racing is all about,” a smiling Pollard said after hoisting the trophy in victory lane.  “He (Reaid) bumped us a little bit through turns three and four coming to the checkered.  That’s expected.  That’s racing and that’s how I like to race.  I have a lot of respect for him to race me that way.” (more…)

Wells Avoids Wild Late-Race Scramble To Capture First-Ever World of Outlaws Late Model Series Triumph At Duck River Raceway Park

Tour Rookie Inherits Lead With Three Laps To Go After Richards, James & Eckert Tangle With Lapped Car

20130421-093450.jpgWHEEL, TN – April 28, 2013 – Eric Wells will never forget his first-ever World of Outlaws Late Model Series victory.

The tour rookie from Hazard, Ky., inherited the lead on lap 47 when the top-three cars were swept up in a tangle with a lapped machine, then outran defending WoO LMS champion Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky., to capture Sunday night’s 50-lap A-Main at Duck River Raceway Park.

“We had a pretty good car from the drop of the green,” said Wells, who earned a career-high paycheck of $10,800. “I don’t think I had the car to win if not for the misfortune of (the top three), but sometimes you gotta have luck on your side and tonight we did. I couldn’t be any happier to win a World of Outlaws race this early in our first season (as a regular).”

Wells, 24, suddenly found himself in the top spot after race-long leader Josh Richards of Shinnston, W.Va., second-place Scott James of Bright, Ind., and third-place Rick Eckert of York, Pa., crashed together on the homestretch while lapping Mark Gant of Savannah, Tenn. The Bluegrass State driver sidestepped the scramble and never flinched over the final three circuits of the rough-and-tumble race, pulling away in his father David’s Team Zero by Bloomquist mount to defeat Lanigan’s Rocket by 0.696 of a second.
