Mother nature wins at Desoto Speedway
After a great Friday night practice where 15 Supers showed up, we knew it was going to be a great Saturday afternoon of racing if Mother Nature would cooperate. Pits opened up on Saturday and the race teams kept rolling in while it was hot and sunny. Practice got underway and car counts grew to twenty Supers for the Turner Tree & Landscape 100, it was going to be a great race with the stout filed of drivers. Another twenty drivers were also on tap from all over for the 40 lap Mini Stock Race. The rains came after practice but Desoto Speedway did their best to dry the track and get this show in since the Supers were rained out there last trip to the track Aug 22. Track was dry and the Bombers came out for their twenty five lap feature before the Supers would qualify. Kenny Gibson of Venice jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. The battle was from second on back which ended with points leader Randy Spicer taking second and third went to Zach Briggs out of Lakeland. With the track completely dry now, the twenty supers came out to qualify to set the field for the 100 lap featured event. Halfway through qualifying the sky let loose and we were done for the night. Supers will be back on Oct 10th for the first of a three race series at Desoto called the Triple Crown.
