Desoto Speedway
A pair of familiar faces found their way back to victory lane during Saturday night’s racing action at Desoto Speedway.
In Saturday’s 30-lap Winged Sprint Car feature, Shane Butler raced from fourth to first in the opening laps and was in a battle with Dave Steele for the lead when Butler made a dramatic move under two lapped cars and into the grass – coming out ahead of Steele and the rest of the pack.
Butler and Steele threaded their way through heavy traffic for the next 20 laps. Steele used a lapped car as a pick to get by Butler for the lead with just three laps to go.
Brighthouse Series Challenge Limps to a Finish
Joe Winchell, driver of the #82 Super Late Model, was quick to thank “everyone for not giving up on me. I love racing here.” in Saturday night’s final leg of the Brighthouse Challenge Series winner’s circle. A cool breeze greeted the eight drivers as they removed their stock car short track racing gear and climbed out of their cockpits after 100 long laps on the 1/4 mile asphalt track.
Many cars fell out early and failed to complete the 100 laps… but pulling into Winner’s Circle behind Winchell was 15 year old Tyler Scofield in the #07. Scofield is a second generation Super Late Model driver at Showtime and the 2013 Pro Truck Series Champion. Dad Jeff is content to sit back and spot for his ambitious and talented son who consistently rakes in Honor Roll in his High School studies. (more…)

Trey Starks wins USCS Florida Final
Ocala, Fla. – Saturday, October 17,2015 – (Chris Seelman photo)- At one point in Saturday night’s 30-lap finale to the United Sprint Car Series Florida State Championships at Bubba Raceway Park it appeared as if home state driver Danny Martin Jr. was going to walk off with a weekend sweep.
However, circumstances got in the way – and opened the door for a first-time United Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters winner
19-year-old Trey Starks, from Puyallup, Wash., inherited the lead from Martin after the latter blew a right rear tire entering turn one with seven laps to go and endured three agonizing restarts inside of the final five laps before he could pull into the www.rockauto.com USCS Victory Lane.

by Scott Lockwood
Joe Boyd took his first win in over a year and a half at Desoto Speedway on Saturday night, taking a dominating flag-to-flag victory in the first race of the Turner Tree and Landscape Super Late Model Triple Crown Series 100-lap feature event.
Front row starters Richie Anderson and Tyler Scofield got together on the opening lap, allowing Joe Boyd to go from third to first by the time the field came out of turn four. Boyd set sail while Mike Franklin, Michael Atwell and points leader Dylan Bigley battled for the second spot. Atwell tapped Franklin in turn one on lap 17, spinning Franklin and bringing out the caution. Atwell was sent to the rear of the field.
