It hosts the fourth round of the Kasey Kahne Challenge on Tuesday, Aug. 14
McCOOL JUNCTION, Neb. – July 24, 2012 – Although the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series has only competed at Junction Motor Speedway once, it has been a highlighted date on the schedule this season.
The semi-banked, 3/8-mile oval hosts the World of Outlaws for only the second time on Tuesday, Aug. 14, for the fourth-and-final round of the NAPA Auto Parts Kasey Kahne Challenge Presented by Mid-Nebraska Land Developing, A&L Sales & Service and Friesen Chevrolet.
Craig Dollansky leads the points for the Challenge going into the final race with a 38-point advantage over Kraig Kinser. Joey Saldana is third – 40 points behind Dollansky.
“It was a fantastic place,” Lucas Wolfe said. “It was a great track, a great facility. It’s a new modern spot, so I’m glad we’re getting to stop again this year.”
Wolfe set quick time and established a track record in qualifying, and finished fifth in the feature that night. While Brooke Tatnell claimed the event, Kasey Kahne Racing driver Joey Saldana earned the KSE Hard Charger Award after piloting from 17th to seventh.
“If my memory is correct, it was one of the biggest crowds they’ve ever had,” Saldana said. “I didn’t win the race or do anything stellar like that, but I remember it was a good run for us.
“That area in the Midwest, they definitely thrive for sprint car racing. And Kasey putting on the event, we definitely want to run good.”
