Gambles were the theme for the RaceCar Engineering Late Models, Scorpion Racing Products Modifieds, Buddy’s Home Furnishings Limited Late Models, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunderstocks, and Barfield Law Group Mini Stocks.

First out were the Scorpion Modifieds with a thrilling 20-lapper. David Reutimann led lap 1 but could not check out on Rich Pratt and Garret Stewart. On lap 8 “The Killer” Kyle Bronson spun and made contact with “Gunslinger” Stewart. “Gunslinger” would keep his position of 3rd behind leader Reutimann and Pratt. Bronson had moved up to 6th after 3 laps when Jim Passino spun the 34 machine and nearly collected Ron Burgess who did receive his spot back. Up front “Reuti” continued to lead “Gunslinger” and Pratt who had recently traded spots. On lap 16 Larry Mott spun the Z06 in turn 4 setting up a 4 lap dash between Reutimann, Stewart, “4-Time” Jeff Mathews, Bronson, and Dalton Lanich. Pratt fell out under caution with a broken rear-end ending a solid night. With just 2 laps left Ron Burgess and Buzzie Reutimann made contact which broke the right front of the 00 ruining a 6th-place for Buzzie after starting from the tail. Shaun Daugharty lost handle of his 00D and made contact with Larry Mott’s Z06. Debris flew all over the front stretch bringing out a quick red flag. Both drivers involved were okay. A 1-lap fight occurred which saw Reutimann hold off the field. Bronson jumped up to 2nd with Stewart, Mathews, and Chuck Gustafson, Jr. behind.

Barfield Law Mini Stocks had a 10-lap battle which saw Buddy Pope dominate. No troubles for 2nd place “Charging” Charlie Staats. “Rockin” Reid Christensen finished 3rd after bringing out the only caution for a solo spin on lap 3. Dean Kinsey finished 1 lap down in 4th.

RaceCar Engineering Late Models started with “The Grim Reaper” Bo Allen scaring the field as “The Magic Man” Mark Whitener battled up from 4th. On lap 8 of the 25-lapper Win Ingersoll spun in turn 4 right in front of Allen and Whitener. Whitener used his tricks to steal the lead at the restart and promptly disappeared from Allen and Jeff Mathews. That lead vanished on lap 10 after Stanton Mills spun in turn 2 as JO Nobles made heavy contact with the turn 3 wall. Whitener and Allen were having fun up front as Jason Fitzgerald went from 6th to 3rd in a lap and a half. A lap 15 caution for Richard Ferry and “Cheddar” Christian Augspurger set up Whitener, Allen, and Fitzgerald up front. “The Magic Man” could not be beaten though “The Grim Reaper” and Fitzgerald gave a good effort. Jeff Mathews and Stanton Mills rounded out the top 5.

Buddy’s Limited Late Models went 20 hard-charging laps that started off with JO Nobles up front and Kevin Mills (who was part of a crash in his heat) at the back in a Thunderstock! Lap 6 was the first caution when 2nd place Christian McGillivray spun and got tapped by Steve Shead. Up front Nobles led Steve Shead and Forrest Gough. The next caution was for his brother Caleb McGillivray when he lost control of the 2X on lap 8. Meanwhile David Showers had jumped up into the top 3. Steve Shead broke the right front off of his 10 on lap 9 leaving Nobles to hold off David Showers and David Showers, Jr. Eddie Gainey’s rough night continued when he nearly flipped his 8 and brought the yellow out on lap 13. That left Nobles to hold off Carter Stokes, the Showers family, and debut driver Tyler Clem. On lap 15 Stokes took the lead from Nobles and a tussle ensued. On lap 18 Tyler spun ruining a good finish but still a great debut drive for #14. Stokes would lead with 2 to go but Nobles, Senior, Junior, and Paul Shead were in tow. Nobles stole the win back and Shead passed Junior for 4th in a fantastic finish.

ASK GARY Thunderstocks ended the night with a bang. Jason Gamble led the race up until the Eddie Woodall caution on lap 5. “Flash” Jonathan Appleby pulled away through 4 minor late race cautions and beat Brian “Still Winless” Mullins, John Thorpe, Gamble, and the very strong Daniel Keene.

Next week the RaceCar Engineering Late Models, Scorpion Racing Products Modifieds, and 1-800-ASK GARY Thunderstocks return while the Hobby Stocks and Rent-N-Roll Gladiators come back after a week off. For more information you can go to www.bubbaracewaypark.com or call the Speedway at 352-622-9400!
