The “Papa John’s 100” for Super Late Models promises another stellar field of the finest Super Late Model teams in the Southeast. 31 Drivers took the Green Flag on opening day just over a month ago, and 100 Laps later, Dawsonville Georgia driver Chase Elliott parked his Ford in Victory Lane, backing up his Snowball Derby Victory 3 months prior. A new Winner will be virtually assured this Friday, as young Elliott has NASCAR commitments in Richmond. Perennial favorite Augie Grill will certainly be one of the contenders, along with Bubba Pollard, Mike Garvey, Grant Enfinger, Casey Smith, and a host of others, including several first timers. As a side note, cars built by Grill’s Grand American Race Cars facility near Birmingham, have won the last 13 Blizzard Series Races at 5 Flags. For this reason, 5 Flags officials have posted a bounty on GARC cars. Any non-GARC built car that can Win on Friday will receive a Cash Bonus.
The Sportsman and Bomber Divisions return this Friday after being off for a month. The action should be hot and heavy in both Divisions as numerous drivers are still scratching and clawing their way. Shana Ard and Gary Goodwin were Victorious on March 30th, and they too will be challenged in their attempts for a repeat.
