Fights Off Points Leader, Cody Coughlin in Thrilling Battle Around the Famed 1/2 Mile

88snyderWinchester, Indiana (Sunday, September 1, 2013): The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance kicked off the prestigious World Stock Car Festival traditionally held over the Labor Day Holiday Weekend at the famed 1/2 (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana on Sunday, September 2nd with the running of the Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com.

Trent Snyder, who had three career wins, all at near-by Anderson Speedway coming into the weekend, proved that he’s just as stout on the bigger track as the Glen Ellyn, Illinois driver behind the wheel of his #88 Medwest Associates / Chevrolet started on the pole and led all 100 laps while fighting off current Points Leader, Cody Coughlin over the last 60 laps, to score his fourth career victory in the series and second win of 2013 in only three starts.

“This is amazing. The car was wicked loose for most of the race and it was all I could do to hold off Cody (Coughlin), man is he strong.” The 29-year-old originally from Ironton, Minnesota stated in victory lane. “After the last caution with about 20 to go, I decided to move down to the bottom and the car just came to life. We had been running the top the whole night, that’s where you’re supposed to run here. But we went low and the car was so good after that. I can’t thank this whole crew enough for their hard work to get us here. Man this is great.” He added.

For his efforts, Snyder collected the AR Bodies Cool Move of the Race Award after changing his line around the legendary 1/2 mile which proved to be the winning move. He also scored D.T.S. Drive Train Specialists Halfway Leader Award as well in addition to his winnings and accolades.

Coughlin settled for second, but the Delaware, Ohio driver in his #1 JEGS.com / Chevrolet was able to add to his points lead. The 17-year-old collected the first Hoosier Racing Tire Performance Award as well as the FLUIDYNE Cool Under Pressure Award for his runner-up showing. Howie Lettow Memorial Rookie of the Year Presented by Howe Racing Enterprises Points Leader, 15-year-old Corey Deuser tied a career high finish with a third place effort as the Georgetown, Indiana freshman in his #14 Focus Eyewear / Ford scored the Howe Racing Enterprises Rookie of the Race Award.

Tom Woodin, who earlier in the weekend scored his first career Boyne Machine Company Fast Qualifier Award, moved back into second place in the points in his #72 Rombaugh’s Auto Sales / Ford with his fourth place effort as 2012 Rookie of the Year, 15-year-old Anderson Bowen returned to JEGS/CRA competition in his #29 Copper Creek Hardware / Ford and complete the top five with his fifth place showing.

Veteran Jason Dietsch finished sixth ahead of 14-year-old rookie, Jake Griffin while 17-year-old rookie, Kyle Crump scored both the second Hoosier Racing Tire Performance Award as well as the Racing Electronics Hard-Charger Award with his eighth place finish. 18-year-old rookie Dominique Van Wieringen finished a career high ninth and won the VDL Fuel Systems Hot Lap of the Race Award for turning the fastest lap of the race with 16-year-old rookie, Jaxson Jacobs rounding out the top 10 and picking up the Hedman Hedders Husler Award.

Ali Kern, the current Rookie of the Year Points Leader in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS made her first JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour appearance of the season, but dropped out early and picked up the Hinchman Racing Uniforms Hard-Luck Award. Woodin’s first career Boyne Machine Company Fast Qualifier Award was a 16.121 around the famed 1/2 mile which measures out to 111.656mph.
