Ocala, FL – The Scorpion Racing Products Modifieds, 1-800-ASK GARY Thunderstocks, Buddy’s Home Furnishings Limited Late Models, and the Barfield Law Group Mini Stocks put it all on the line and you may be surprised with the results

Barfield Law Group Mini Stocks started off with the Staats family and Kyle Kruse up front. On a lap 2 restart Kruse and “Charging” Charlie Staats made contact which eventually put both on the rear as Staats had to pit. Buddy Pope would receive the worst as contact with Staats ended his night. Travis Staats and Shirlene Hammond door slammed for the lead- Hammond would spin and retire with damage and Staats would be put to the tail. Nick Kerr, Zach Amundsen, and “Rockin” Reid Christensen would lead with 13 to go. “Rockin” Reid Christensen spun from the battle for 2nd on lap 8 as Harold Brokaw stopped in turn 3 and Kyle Kruse slammed the turn 4 wall. Kruse would finish 5th with Zach Amundsen the first-time winner. Nick Kerr, Charlie Staats, and Reid Christensen would finish in the top 5 with Kruse rounding it out in a 10-lapper.

For 20 laps the Buddy’s Home Furnishings Limited Late Models battled on the clay. Christian McGillivray would lead lap 1 as Tyler Clem spun in turn 3. Tyler had more troubles on lap 2 as he spun it again on the backstretch. On lap 3 Caleb McGillivray got shot out of the sandwich which loosened his 2X. Eddie Gainey and Jeff Mathews got minimal damage while Tyler Clem and David Showers saw their nights end with heavy contact in the McGillivray incident. JO Nobles would steal the lead on the restart before Forrest Gough went reeling to the infield after contact with Eddie Gainey- both would restart at the back. Jeff Mathews was quick and stole the lead on lap 14 from the back row! Mathews would hold on with Nobles, David Showers, Jr., Eddie Gainey, and Forrest Gough the top 5. Mathews, however, was found illegal in tech moving everyone up one spot. Nobles the winner and Christian McGillivray would take home a top 5.

The Scorpion Racing Products Modifieds in the First Annual Florida State Modified Championship put on an amazing 40-lapper as “4-Time” Jeff Mathews roared to the lead from pole position. On lap 9 “The Gunslinger” Garret Stewart found his 2S in the wall after he binded it up out of turn 4. Mathews would lead with “The Killer” Kyle Bronson and Ronnie Chance in tow. A long green run lasted until lap 28 when Todd Neiheiser spun in turn 3 as Bronson passed Mathews for the lead! A red flag would occur to allow drivers to get tear-offs. With just 5 to go Larry Mott slowed in turn 2 giving “The Repo Man” Jeff Mathews another shot at “The Killer.” Bronson won it with Mathews a disgusted 2nd. Wayne Hammond, Ronnie Chance, and Dalton Lanich completed the top 5.

The 1-800-ASK GARY Thunderstocks put on a show for the ages with Jonathan Appleby the leader. On lap 7 Brandon Elwood looped the 28E setting up Appleby with Chad Scranton on his tail. Scranton would make a pass for the lead on lap 8. Davey Kinsey pulled off with overheating issues on lap 13 as Donnie Dobbins stopped in turn 1. The run to the end saw Scranton hold Appleby off to end his streak of wins. Mike Tovet, Brian Mullins, and Dean Jarvis would complete the top 5.

Tomorrow night is the second half of the Florida State Modified Championship! Alongside the Modifieds who will race for $2000 will be the 1-800 ASK GARY Thunderstocks racing for $1000, the Buddy’s Home Furnishings Limited Late Models, Hobby Stocks, Barfield Law Group Mini Stocks, and the Rent-N-Roll Gladiators.
