Salem, IN. (August 30, 2016) – The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance will return to action this Sunday on the famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway as part of the Labor Day Weekend World Stock Car Festival, one of the biggest stock car events held each year in Central Indiana. The weekend will feature exciting racing action from the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS, JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance, Broaster Chicken ICAR Top Speed Modifieds, Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, CRA Street Stocks, Vores Touring Compacts and Thunder Roadsters. Camping will be available all weekend and there will also be the annual Sunday night party in the pavilion featuring live music.
The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour drivers will be eager to race, there last event was on August 6th at Spitzer Motor Speedway. The series last two scheduled events on August 13th at Auto City Speedway and August 20th at Columbus Motor Speedway were both canceled because of weather. In a rough season affected by weather, the series has lost four events because of weather cancellations so far this season.
Series point’s leader Cody Coughlin, the series 2013 Champion, tops the list of entries for Sunday’s event. Coughlin has two series wins so far this season including Salem Speedway on June 18th and Anderson Speedway on July 23rd. Coughlin has a second place finish, a third place finish and a fifth place finish in the other three series events contested so far this season. Coughlin is also the points leader in the ARCA/CRA Super Series were he has a series leading three wins so far this season. Coughlin is also competing in selected NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events during the 2016 season for Kyle Busch Motorsports.
2013 and 2014 ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Travis Braden is entered driving for 2015 series Car Owner Champion Bill Burba, who is also entered in a team car. Braden won the Bud St. Amant Memorial 125 at Spitzer Motor Speedway, it was the first CRA win for Bill Burba Motorsports. Braden’s first ever CRA win came in a JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event at Winchester Speedway in October of 2011.
Current second place in series points Jack Smith, the defending winner of this event, is entered. Smith is the Crew Chief for Coughlin and is looking forward to getting back in the car after a hard crash that ended his day early at Spitzer Motor Speedway. Smith’s Labor Day Weekend victory last season was the first of three victories he got in the series last four events of 2015.
Other top CRA drivers entered are 2014 series Champion Dan Leeck, Brandon Oakley, Phil Bozell, Andy Bozell, Dakota Stroup, Austin Kunert, Jon Beach, along with a great group of VanDoorn Racing Development Rookie of the Year drivers lead by rookie point’s leader 13 year old Michael Clancy Jr., Jack Dossey III, Hope Hornish and Joshua James.
Ohio’s Colin Nickolai, a former CRA regular, is entered to make his 2016 series debut. Huntington Beach, California driver Zane Smith is entered. Smith, like Coughlin, will be doing double duty this weekend, also competing in the ARCA/CRA Super Series event on Monday afternoon.
There will be an open practice for all divisions on Saturday, pits open at 10am, and rotating practice will go from 1pm until 5pm. There will be security at the track all weekend so teams can leave their equipment in the track. Pits open on Sunday at 8am, practice will begin at 10am with qualifying starting at 3pm. Racing action on Sunday will begin at 5pm and will include heat races for the ICAR Top Speed Modifieds, CRA Late Model Sportsman, CRA Street Stocks, Thunder Roadsters and the Vores Touring Compacts. The Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour will be the first feature of the night and will be followed by a 20 lap feature for the Vores Touring Compacts. The traditional Sunday night party will begin after the racing is completed.
Pits open on Monday at 10am. The first of six feature events will start at 1pm with the 20 lap Thunder Roadsters feature, then the 40 lap CRA Late Model Sportsman feature, then the 100 lap ARCA/CRA Super Series feature, then the 40 lap ICAR Top Speed Modifieds feature, then the 20 lap Vores Touring Compacts Outlaw feature, with the 40 lap CRA Street Stocks feature ending the day.
