After a rainout last Friday night that was just a precursor of a very wet weekend in Central Florida, Orlando SpeedWorld is back in action this Friday and the weatherman is promising a Chamber of Commerce forecast this time. It was announced this week that the track is stepping up its effort to attract a bigger field of cars by raising purses providing the race teams Increase their participation. If 15 or more cars are entered, the purse for the top three positions will double for that class. This affects all classes with the exception of Super Late Models, Strictly Stocks and Bandoleros. Providing there are 15 cars entered, the purse for the Modifieds, E-Modifieds and Pro Trucks will increase to $500-320-220 for the top-three finishing spots. The Mini Stock purse for the top three would increase to $400-200-160 and the Super Stocks would see an increase to $300-160-140. The Super Late Model purse will remain the same, plus they will be the class eligible for national and regional points in the NASCAR Whelan All-American Series.
Information on the Pro Plate Model purse will be forthcoming. Competing this Friday night will be the Super Late Models, E-Modifieds, Pro Trucks, Mini Stocks, Strictly Stocks and Bandoleros. Although the Strictly Stocks normally just race for a trophy, the track is putting up $100 this week plus is bringing back the “Fan Fun Race” where fans can donate into the purse as well and be eligible for nice door prizes for doing so. Pit gates open Fiday afternoon at 4 pm, grandstand gates open at 6 pm and racing begins at 8 pm. Adult admission is $12 and kids 12 and under are admitted free of charge.
